Third year in service with great reviews and more improvements completed on this beautiful lake house. Basic Cable TV, internet, and Air Conditioning!
Fantastic vacation home in a fantastic location! Major League Fishing area where the bass fishing and other varieties are just outstanding. Three Mile Pond provides excellent habitat for warm water game fishes. Anglers can probe the boulder strewn shoreline and several submerged rocky shoals for small and large mouth bass. Bass fishing here is good, with many fish growing to exceptional size. Pickerel and white perch are abundant and provide good action for both summer and winter anglers. Brown trout are present and add another dimension to Three Mile's diverse fisheries. Because the pond lacks adequate spawning and nursery areas for wild production, the trout fishery must be maintained through an annual stocking program.
Spectacular views of the lake with a perfect mix of relaxing seclusion and fun activities make this a perfect spot for your next vacation. Relax with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine on the deck that wraps around most of the home while watching beautiful sunrises and sunsets overlooking the ever-changing lake. Loons, Great Herons, Eagles, and other abundant wildlife are a common sight to see in this area.
Inside the lake house are a master bedroom, loft bedroom and a pull out sleeper in the living room. Equipped with a newer cook stove/range, microwave and washer/dryer.
Beautiful cathedral ceilings and three sets of sliding glass doors allow not only amazing views, but visually bring in the outdoors and allow easy access to outside! The open concept kitchen, dining area, and living room add comfortable space for all indoor activities. Just perfect.
The water has a sandy bottom with a gradual drop off making swimming very nice here. It may not be conducive for very young ones though unless closely supervised by a responsible adult. You will find a brand new dock as well. The “Watahwaukin” comes equipped with all the amenities needed for a great stay from cooking spices to board games. The Sparkling clean well-water is simply delicious.
From this location you can take a variety of day trips to coastal Maine. Some of the more popular day trips are to Camden, Rockport, Belfast, Boothbay Harbor, Damariscotta, and Rockland ferries to coastal islands. Activities from these locations include Owls Head Museum, Farnsworth Museum, sailing, deep sea fishing and excellent dining at Fisherman's Wharf. Local attractions include golfing, bowling, hiking and a variety of summer festivals and fairs. A visit to "Hussey's General Store" is a must!
The lake house is equipped with Fast Broadband internet with wireless LAN. “Watahwaukin” boasts a full entertainment system that includes television, AM/FM Stereo, Video, CD, DVD and cassette tape inputs along with music and movies to enjoy. The Roku TV adds another dimension to the entertainment system with Netflix, Hulu and other fun capabilities.
Come, Relax and Enjoy!
I am the property manager of The Watahwaukin. I have been a manager of rental units for 21 years and am a native Mainer for 56 years now. I have a profound love and respect for our great state and the rich resources of our lakes, streams, oceans, and mountains. I have worked in all 16 counties and know many vacation areas as a great bulk of our vacation time has been spent in Maine. Our state parks are beautiful, well taken care of, and I just love visiting my local park in Damariscotta. I am a member of MOFGA (Maine Organic Farmers Gardeners Association) with a great appreciation of local, natural foods and supporting my local farms. I am a CSA member of the Sheepscot General, a local organic farm in Whitefield, Maine. I love gardening and canning in the summer and sharing my yield with others. My family are all wood harvesters, a huge industry in this state. I graduated Oak Hill High School with my business honors and am currently working on my Associates Degree in Paralegal Studies. I have lived in East Pittston for 18 years and my hometown of 38 years is Litchfield. I have been married 33 years but we have been a couple for 41. We have two wonderful children who are doing well in life and whom we are so proud of too. I hope you visit the wonderful lake house. I take very good care of renters and love to meet people and talk about their rewarding lives and the beautiful places they come from too. I love our business and can't imagine anything else.
The bird's eye view is so spectacular. The house sits high up overlooking a vast area of lake and beautiful pine trees. It's nicely shaded too. Half of the house wraps with beautiful decking. I love how the living room walks out to the deck facing the lake. The kitchen, dining room, and living room is all open concept. Beautiful, high cathedral ceilings in the dining room and living room. It has a lot of amenities and is in a great location. This lake is renowned for big and small mouth bass fishing.
We loved the song of the loons that were very prevalent at most times of the day. Very quiet and peaceful is what we appreciated most. Loved the Thermos grill that had a griddle and hotplate! The master bedroom mattress was the most comfortable I've slept in. Plenty of comfortable patio furniture and the shoreline was sandy with a gradual decline. Wonderful washer and dryer, the dishwasher was a real plus, and the TV choices were plenty! Will definitely come back.
We had a wonderful vacation week at this lake house. The weather was perfect and the house was perfect for us too. Very spacious and private! Enjoyed the sun on the dock in the morning, moved up to the large deck for lunch and afternoon cocktails and then headed to the fire pit under a full moon, doesn't get any better than that! Enjoyed afternoon trips to Camden and Belfast. Have to go to Hussey's General Store, great experience. Hannaford close by. Also a bonus having a dishwasher, washer and dryer at such a very reasonable rate. Sue was also very pleasant and great to work with!
My family had the most beautiful Christmas at this lakehouse! The house is so cute with an amazing lake view and is situated in a quaint country setting. The house is out of the hustle and bustle, and located conveniently between Waterville and Augusta and also has a large grocery store, a great breakfast restaurant and an adorable local coffee shop a few miles away. The house was very clean and possessed all the amenities that we could have wanted. The great room of the house feels large with its high ceilings and open space plan which was perfect for us (5 people). Our teenager loved her private space in the loft! We encountered very strange weather for Maine in December, experiencing a taste of every season over the couple of weeks we spent there! When we arrived, people were kayaking, the sun was shining and the muskrats were sighted! Days later it began to snow, but the snow melted soon after it hit the ground. The snow eventually moved in and the weather morphed into the white Christmas we all envisioned! Perfect!
The house was warm and toasty from the wood stove fire. We put up twinkling Christmas lights on our 12 foot tall Christmas tree and wondered what it looked like on the other side of the lake. The days where bright and cheerful. The view of the lake was ever-changing and absolutely beautiful. We found that the house was supplied with many games to play, movies to watch and books to read! We listened to music, made crafts, entertained friends, took nature walks, made Christmas treats and even cooked a beautiful lobster dinner on Christmas Eve! Our recommendation is 5 stars and we will absolutely return for another vacation!
The "Watahwaukin" vacation home is secluded, and the perfect vacation spot for those who want get away from it all,but not be totally disconnected. There are two groceries stores nearby, which provides you everything you may need! The property is lakefront and a bit steep, but there are steps and and rails to ease your way down to dock. The water is a nice temperature, dropping gradually, but the weeds were a deterrent for the kids,as well as the algae for swimming. We made use of the canoe and kayak, and fished everyday. There is a wonderful fire pit, which we used of nightly. The house is quaint and I was quite impressed with the cleanliness of the property. The kitchen was quite stocked and appliances seemed new.Washer, dryer and dishwasher was a definite bonus, and I enjoyed the stereo when I made dinner night. The bathroom was small, and there isn't a tub,and the stall not adequate for a larger person, but it was spotless. The grill is propane,a nice addition, but keep in mind it is a tail gating kind of grill, but super easy to clean. There isn't any air conditioning, and one ceiling fan, which is probably fine normally, but we happened to have abnormally high temps the week we were there, and it was quite unbearable, but adding more fans made it considerably cooler. This property offers quite a lot,and pet friendly! I was impressed with all the amenities, cleanliness and extras, you don't usually see in a rental. Plus,Sue is absolute sweetheart to work with.We really had a nice time at the Watahwaukin, thank you!!!
This was a serene, beautiful and comfortable environment at an affordable price ! We enjoyed discovering the nearby towns as well as relaxing in the house. Thank you for letting us take our small dog with us as he enjoyed running around and exploring all the details of the surrounding area. Most importantly, the house included all the necessary items for living. In our previous renting experiences we always had to buy additional items. This house even includes Roku TV (Netflix, Amazon, etc.) . This truly felt like a home away from home and we will always cherish our memories !
On Three Mile Pond in Windsor, Maine, this home has a large living area, fully furnished kitchen, one bathroom, one private bedroom and a loft bedroom. We arrived a bit after check in and the cleaning crew was still there. They were apologetic but it gave me a chance to see how thoroughly they cleaned which gave me comfort. The hardwood floor is a great addition as it was easy to keep the tracked in pine straw under control (we had a good bit of rain). The lake is very quiet--we only saw a few boats. We heard a few loons--there can never be enough loons for me! The outside deck was large and a wonderful place to have morning coffee and late day refreshments with a view of the lake. Down at the dock are a canoe and kayak. We had family stopping in to visit and the living and dining areas comfortably accommodated 6 adults and a toddler. The washer and dryer in the basement were a definite plus! A large supermarket is less than 4 miles from the house. You need to drive to the surrounding towns for restaurants.
Belfast, Maine is approximately 35 miles from Windsor. Belfast is in the heart of Mid-coast Maine and is rich in historic downtowns, fine eateries that serve the freshest Maine seafood, boating, sailing, artful events and much, much more. The City of Belfast is a paradise for boaters. Not only does the City offer a very friendly Maine community atmosphere, for a boater, it is a dreamland. For the golf enthusiast, check out Natanis Golf Course located in Vassalboro just 8 miles from Windsor. Natanis Golf Course is the only golf course in the State of Maine to offer 36 regulation holes.
