About Teresa Busch

We've lived in Juneau for 24 years and consider ourselves to be very fortunate to have found such a beautiful environment and community to call home. We both grew up in Oregon and are now splitting time between the 2 places that we call home. We wanted others to experience the beauty and serenity of our cove when we are away.

There truly is no other place like it.

Teresa Busch purchased this house in 2004

Why Teresa Busch chose Alaska

We purchased Otter Way Cottage after leasing it for a year. When you wake up every morning and no matter what the weather looks like outside you still feel like you are on vacation we knew that was where we wanted to be. The front of the house is all windows and faces the water. There are days you feel like you are watching a nature channel through the windows. With porpoises that play in the cove, eagles, herons, otters and whales you won't want to leave the cove.

What makes this house unique

The million dollar view, the convenient location and the quiet neighborhood will make you fall in love with Indian Cove. Rent a Kayak 5 minutes down the road at Auke Bay Kayak Rentals and paddle out to Indian Island that sits right in front of the Cottage.

Build a bonfire in the fire pit and look for the Aurora. Bar-B-Q on the expansive deck and wait for the tide to go out then walk across the land bridge to the little island and watch the sunset. So many things to enjoy.

What a find!

  • 5 of 5

My film crew stayed here whilst filming in Juneau and they were pretty blown away! Apparently the views were even better than the pictures! The workshop downstairs was a real bonus and perfect for sorting kit.

Teresa was the perfect owner, very accommodating, helpful and clear on instructions; and more than happy to answer any questions I had. I would definitely recommend this place and am already looking at booking the crew back in when they are back in Juneau. Thank you!!!

Owner's Response: Katie, Thank you so much for the wonderful review. I'm happy to hear that all went well with the crew and that they enjoyed their work stay at our cottage. I know that they experienced an unexpected snow fall when they were there and I'm happy that it didn't put a damper on things. We would love to have you back again. Teresa

We loved it!

  • 5 of 5

Otter Way Cottage was perfect for our needs, and we found the place very clean when we arrived! Everything was in perfect working order, and we so much appreciated all the "extras" that were provided by the owners. Our college age daughter loved having her own space on the lower level! The view from the cottage was breathtaking, and it was so peaceful and relaxing having our morning coffee and waiting for the sun to come up. If ever in the Juneau area again, this place would be first on our list! Thank you, Teresa and Rick!

Magestic view & well stocked home

  • 5 of 5

We loved our week at Otter Way cottage. The home was warm and inviting with modern appliances and incredibly well stocked. The kitchen was a pleasure with many amenities I did not expect. The views were incredible. It was the perfect space for my husband and I to get away for a week of relaxation and time together. We came before the "season" started but there was still plenty of things to see and do. We hiked in different locations every day including nearby Mendenhall Glacier, Auke Lake and the access trail at the end of Otter Way. We saw a play on Douglas Island that was amazing. Downtown is only a 20 minute drive. My husband signed up for a week at the nearby Alaska Club gym and was very happy with that. I loved that I had close access to two Quilt stores, Changing Tides (downtown) and Rain Tree Quilting.

Did I mention the incredible views? Majestic, relaxing, beautiful scenes all day out the windows which flank the entire length of the cabin and the deck. I spent many hours with a blanket on my lap, stitching on the deck.

This is a perfect location for a couple. We did not use the "hobbit hole" but saw that it was cute and would work for teens. Only one bathroom upstairs(with a great shower head) so anyone staying below would need to go outside and upstairs to access the bathroom.

Owner's Response: Debi, It's wonderful to hear that you had such a good time and were able to experience Juneau early in the season. It sounds like the weather was nice enough for you to get out and enjoy the surrounding area. Excellent choice choosing to go see a play at Perseverance they are known for putting on fantastic productions. Thank you for the wonderful review and we hope if you return again that you will choose to stay with us on Otter Way. Cheers, Teresa

Owner's Response: Britain, Thank you! We are very happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay. We have traveled many places and stayed in many VRBO homes. We wanted to leave our cottage stocked with items that we would like to find in the places that we have traveled and did not find. We hope that you return at some point to see the upgrades that we have planned. Cheers, Teresa

Perfect place to hang out as a family

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. There is an amazing view from a very comfortable and beautifully furnished cottage with a well-stocked kitchen for those who like to cook on vacation, and a great private beach that my 3-year-old daughter just loved exploring. We had several pleasant evenings on the beach with a fire, which is always fun. The owner is very nice and is easily reached if you have any questions or concerns. So many positive things to say, but only one negative: the downstairs bedroom. It is only accessible from the outside (which is a pain because it's almost always raining in Juneau), there is very low overhead clearance (6 ft), and it smells musty down there. The cottage is best used as a 1 bedroom, so if you have a family with young kids, it's best to just have them sleep in the living room instead of downstairs. Even with the odd bedroom set-up, we'd go back in a heartbeat. We loved our week-long vacation there and wish we could have stayed longer. Thanks!

Owner's Response: Susan, Thank you so much for the generous review. Apologize for the musty basement smell. This can sometimes happen when there is very heavy rains in Juneau and September is the time the rains begin to set in. There have been many sunny Septembers unfortunately this one hasn't bee one. We will be addressing the basemment issue when we are there next week. We however are unable to adjust the ceiling height down there and that is why in our description we refer to the second over flow bedroom as the Hobbit Hole. It's much more suited for a teenager or adult that doesn't mind the separation from the top half of the house. We do hope that you return some time in the future to see the changes that we will be making (downstairs will still be a hobbit hole but less musty) and the tree house will be finished soon. Thank you again for staying with us and we look forward to seeing you in the future. I'll post better photos soon to give a clearer picture of the downstairs.
