About Jim and Kathy Herrington

I am the daughter of Art and Elane Petersen who purchased the land and built this home back in 1980's for a retirement retreat. Art was raised on a ranch 11 miles up the road but had a career as a Marine JAG officer, then as a city attorney and finally opened his own office as a financial planner before REALLY retiring to his hometown. They raised Longhorns and enjoyed a few good years before leaving the property for others to enjoy.

I LOVE this place!!! After enjoying over a decade of Thanksgiving and other celebrations here w/ my entire family; I have a desire to share the beauty & wonder of these twin hills and surrounding area.

Jim and Kathy Herrington purchased this house in 1988

Why Jim and Kathy Herrington chose Hill Country

Our home was designed by my late parents for family gatherings and for retirement. It is comfortable and quiet, cant see another house in any direction.

What makes this house unique

We are over the hill from Fredericksburg which gives us the most wonderful views of the stars without the city lights. Almost always a breeze so sitting out on any of the porches is comfortable.

Lovely time

We had a great time staying here. The property is gorgeous and peaceful. I watched the sunrise, sunset and the cattle graze from the front porch.

Beautiful, quiet, private, and close to town.

  • 5 of 5

We rented this house as a place for the women and younger children to stay while we camped at our land near Enchanted Rock with some of the older kids. One of the nights we did so, we all gathered here for dinner. Place is absolutely perfect for multiple families with children. Plenty of room for them to run, and the location is very close to town while still feeling like it's in the country. It's an easy, beautiful drive to access the place, and once you're there, the views, surrounding acreage, and home are wonderful.

We can highly recommend this place for groups and will certainly be back.

WOW!! INCREDIBLE!!

  • 5 of 5

I have been renting vacation homes for more than ten years. This one delivered more than we expected. So comfortable, so peaceful, close to town- 6-7 minute drive and everything you need. House was much larger than we expected. We cooked big breakfasts and sat on the patio to eat. Loved watching the cows and deer. We actually go to fredricksburg a couple times a year. I look forward to staying here again!! Thank you for sharing your home!!
