This charming and spacious 1910 cottage has been fully remodeled into a one-bedroom home with all the modern amenities. It's situated in an ideal location -- just a few minute's drive to downtown Seattle while also a short walk to all the shops and restaurants in the West Seattle Junction.
THE KITCHEN: For those who enjoy cooking, an open kitchen with high-end appliances awaits. The kitchen includes a dining bar and opens onto the living room for an inviting social space.
THE LIVING ROOM: This comfortable space includes a big-screen TV, basic cable, an Xbox 360 game machine and 7.1 in-wall surround sound. A dining bar looks out over both the kitchen and living room.
THE SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS: The bedroom includes a queen-size bed, plus a sofa-bed perfect for sleeping children. An additional sofa-bed in the living room means 6 people can sleep in the house comfortably.
THE SUN ROOM & BACK DECK: The light-filled sun room as well as the back deck are the perfect spots to relax and enjoy a cup of coffee or a good book. The back deck also includes a brand-new gas BBQ for grilling.
THE BATHROOM: The remodeled bathroom includes a large mirror and spacious vanity as well as an extra-deep bathtub/shower combination.
HOUSE ACCESS: Guests have access to the entire main floor and deck as well as the front porch and front yard. I rent out an entirely separate downstairs apartment to other guests. There is no shared space with the downstairs apartment except for the back yard.
THE NEIGHBORHOOD: This cottage is located on a quiet, tree-lined street and is a short drive to both downtown Seattle a well as West Seattle's lovely Alki Beach. My home is also just a few block's walk to the many lively restaurants, coffee houses, bars and boutiques found in the West Seattle Junction. It's the best of all worlds!
I am a lifelong Seattle resident who loves traveling, biking, rock climbing and other sports. I remodeled this early-1900s cottage myself and think it has become a comfortable and inviting space in what happens to be my favorite neighborhood -- West Seattle. I hope you enjoy your stay!
You will not be disappointed if you rent this cottage.
The kitchen was amazing and had everything you need to make a meal at home. With a Trader Joe's being only three blocks away this very easy to do.
Husband enjoyed the big screen tv. Our daughter and grandson joined us and she said the couch in the living room was comfortable it makes into a bed and would accommodate two if needed. Thanks to Winda for bringing over a pack and play for our grandson.
The bed was very comfortable and there is also a small couch in the bedroom that could sleep a child or small adult.
There is parking available in the front on the street but we preferred to park in the back which is accessible by using the alley.
All the Seattle attractions are a close drive away. Make sure you try to go on a whale tour if you can it was amazing.
Thanks Patrick and Winda we really enjoyed the cottage.
We had an enjoyable stay at the cottage. The kitchen is very well equipped however, a few hot pads and dish rags would be nice in the kitchen. We really enjoyed the large tv. Please add face towels in the bathroom otherwise it was very nice. Bed was very comfortable. The electric heaters warm the cottage very well. Thanks Winda for the tip about going down the California Avenue we found a great place to eat. Traders Joes is very close and so is access to the sights in Seattle. Thanks for letting us use the pack and play for our grandson it was very much appreciated. Loved the dishwasher also.
Patrick's cottage was just as described and pictured, clean, well stocked and in an incredible location. Walk to the junction with its many shops and restaurants and very near the bridge to get downtown to Seattle's many attractions. His caretaker was very helpful and took care of any concerns we had in a timely manner. My husband and I were a monthly rental so some things important to us may not matter for shorter rental periods. We would love to rent the cottage again next summer, but a couple of changes are needed. August was very hot and the bedroom needs window screens and a fan. Also, it is definitely the nicest kitchen you could find but after cooking a meal, there is no where to eat it. 😊A table should be added as the bar Is not built to sit at. Loved our time there even with the above 2 concerns. Some favorite restaurants in West Seattle were Buddha Ruska (1/2 block from cottage), Matador on California and of course Saltys.(Incredible weekend buffet and beautiful views of skyline).
The house was very warm & inviting. Everything went so smooth.....we followed the instructions on entering/leaving the house...so simple! Bed & couches were comfy, he even left us a air mattress out because we had 6 people. The only I would say is to somehow remodel the entrance to the bedroom, its a huge step down
Patrick and Winda did a great job of accommodating myself and 3 other guests as we were all impressed with this property. In addition, they did a great job of communicating whether it be in email or text. I would recommend this location to anyone traveling to Seattle. If I'm ever back in the area I will plan to stay at the cottage again. It's located only 10-15 minutes from downtown by car and in a safe neighborhood near shops and grocery stores.
Thank you for helping us enjoy our stay in Seattle even more, Patrick and Winda!
WE FOUND THE COTTAGE VERY COMFORTABLE AND AS PICTURED. PATRICK & WINDA RESPONDED VERY PROMPTLY TO OUR EMAIL INQUIRIES AND PHONE CALL. THE LOCATION WAS PERFECT FOR US. A SHORT WALK TO ALASKA JUNCTION THE HUB OF WEST SEATTLE WITH SHOPS, RESTAURANTS AND THE FARMERS MARKET ON SUNDAY( NOT TO BE MISSED ). TWO BLOCKS TO THE RAPID RIDE BUS INTO THE CITY. THE BUS COSTS $2.50, TAKES TEN MINUTES AND YOU DON'T HAVE TO DEAL WITH EXPENSIVE PARKING OR TRAFFIC. THERE IS A THAI RESTAURANT AND BREW PUB AT THE END OF THE STREET AND A TRADER JOES 3 BLOCKS AWAY. LOVED WALKING THROUGH THE NEIGHBORHOODS ADMIRING ALL THE STRANGE AND WONDERFUL LANDSCAPING.
This renovated cottage is located in a charming corner of West Seattle that offers both easy access to downtown Seattle (via the West Seattle Bridge) while also being situated in walking distance to a fantastic variety of boutique shops, coffee houses and restaurants. (One of Seattle's top-rated Thai food restaurants is a mere half block from this home.) It's also just a few minutes drive from West Seattle's scenic Alki Beach.
Whether you're walking, busing or driving around the area, this house is the perfect place to stay. The Walk Score here is 81. For those driving, this house is minutes away from the West Seattle Bridge and downtown Seattle. If you're busing around, the nearest bus stop is a block away and is a Rapid Ride stop! West Seattle's famous Alaska Junction area full of shops and restaurants is an easy walk and just a few blocks away.
