Studio apartment - Excellent location in Poblado with redundant internet!

Sleeps2

Minimum Stay 3 nights

Overview

About the property

Two internet feeds, free us landline, air conditioner and hot water everywhere.

Unit 106 at La Provincia has a queen sized bed, HD TV, with cable, a portable laptop table, 20MB of private WIFI internet and the building also has 30+ MB Wifi available. So if you absolutely need to work on line this is the best unit in Poblado!

Nicely equipped kitchen, hot water throughout, soft towels and linens from the States.

The apartment comes fully equipped with a coffee maker, a safe large enough for your laptop, new washing machine and dryer for your clothes and a bluetooth speaker for your use. Just installed an air conditioner for the 2 hours that it gets a littler warm.

There is a small patio if you or your guest smoke. The building has a small restaurant which is open for breakfast everyday ($6.00). Also the building has 24/7 security with plenty of parking available. There are no loud bars or night clubs close to keep you awake at night.

It's just a short one minute walk to the Carulla grocery store that has everything

you might need including a small cafe for freshly prepared food. Also, the Metro connector bus is available here. For 3000 cop you get a transfer to the Metro and a Metro ticket.

Above Carulla there is a small shopping mall with a restaurant or two.

It's about a 10 minute walk downhill to Parque Lleres and central Poblado.

Since this unit is located on the first floor it's extremely quiet, you can leave the windows open at night and listen to the creek behind the building.

I'm the owner/manager and work hard to provide an economical

unit with top amenities for you.

About David Lewis

I live in Texas and travel to Medellin as often as possible.

David Lewis purchased this studio in 2014

Why David Lewis chose El Poblado

This was a a perfect unit located close to everything but not so close that you have to hear the noise and deal with the traffic.

What makes this studio unique

Quiet first floor. The building sits lower than the street level, so, the traffic and other noises are not noticeable.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Dave, I want to express my sincere thanks for your help during my stay at your place. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. The place is very comfortable and quiet. The girls in the kitchen were nice and the guards were always helpful. I had another incredible vacation, one for the record books. I can't get enough of Medellin and the people there. Guillermo was really cool. We had coffee this morning and he already feels like a friend. Again, Thank You VERY VERY VERY much for your hospitality. I hope someday I can return the favor.

Loved Staying Here - Dave Is A Great Guy

  • 5 of 5

I loved staying at Dave's place in El Poblado and his manager, Nora, is a great person, very resourceful and all around fun to get to know. The place was spotless, quiet, very accessible to El Poblado and the metro station (a $2 cab ride away or 75 cents on the Metrobus feeder line). The Carulla supermarket right across the street had everything I wanted at reasonable prices (to me, as a resident of Costa Rica where food and restaurant prices are outrageous). The guards are extremely helpful and polite. There was only one drawback to staying there: I didn't want to leave. I'm not supposed to post the details about this, but Dave did me a huge favor on a personal level, showing how generous and kind he is. I can't recommend the place, the owner, the manager, or the building staff enough. BTW, his picture of the balcony and the fact that it's on the first floor may lead you to believe that there's no view. Not true, the ground slopes down so actually you're more like on the second floor. I slept with the windows and lanai door open. Not a single insect: no flies, no mosquitoes, no cockroaches (which I did not expect for the tropics). No noise at all after about 5 pm and the bed is very comfortable.

Fantastic Location!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at apartment for one week in December 2105. Perfect location since we did not have a car. Across the street was a nice Carulla grocery store. Metro bus picked us up at same location for a quick ride to the El Poblado metro station. Was a 10 minutes walk to Parque Lleras. Bed was very comfortable. Linens were very clean and soft as we noticed they were purchased in the States. Fast internet. English channels on large television. Air conditioned which we loved. Also had a washer as well as dryer which you do not often find in a short term rental. Dave was very responsive for any questions we had. The front office guards were very attentive to persons entering and leaving the gated area. Enjoyed our stay!

EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED!

  • 1 of 5

As VRBO users, we typically select properties based on previous reviews. But this time it was a BIG MISTAKE! It was dirty. The floor was sticky, dust balls and piles of dirt were along floor edges and corners, webs growing on the dingy blinds, damp bath towels folded in the closet, and wet mops in the kitchen janitor's sink attracting insects.

After we cleaned for 2 hrs and decided to leave, we contacted Dave. He NEVER offered to rectify, only justify, the situation saying that he and a maid were just there and it was not dirty. He wanted to know what my REAL problem was, saying perhaps there was just "a little bit of dust" , and called my ability to poorly review his property merely "a threat". It's difficult to believe, I know, but the emails and photos prove it. For this shocking lack of care and professionalism, Dave has retained half of our pre-paid money for never staying there.

I"m sure the previous reviews were accurate for their time. But now it has changed. Don't be fooled by the photos, previous reviews, or its owner.

Necessity taught us you can enjoy the care of a 5 star hotel complete with gourmet breakfast centrally located on Carrera 43a in El Poblado for a mere $10 US more a night than this property. Who wants to sleep in dirt when you can do it in luxury!

Owner's Response: Well, anybody can post anything on here! Two people to clean 500 square feet for two hours, really? It started off as an hour and a half in your first email to me that stated “we left and refund our money”. Not, oh we have a problem come help! I installed a new water heater the day before your arrival and the housekeeper was finishing cleaning as I left. Dingy blinds? They are three months old. $10.00 more a night for a five star hotel, now that's funny. And yes you threatened bad feedback if I did not refund your money! I stand by my unit and my true reviews.

Great Experience

  • 5 of 5

Dave went above and beyond to make sure I had a great stay. Not only did he explain everything in and around the apartment but he gave me some great suggestions of things to do in the city. The internet was really fast and is from what I could see is the fastest out of any other rental on the site. The location is excellent, it is only about a 5 min cab ride to one of the nicest / touristy places in the city but it is far enough away where you are removed from the hustle and bustle. There is a large grocery store right across the street that cooks made to order hot food for very cheap. Great location, great host, great place to stay.

Great accomodaton for those who want the comforts of home

  • 5 of 5

If you want to stay in Medellin and want to stay in comfort I can recomend La Provincia. Excellent condition, new facilities including stove top, washing machine, excellent WiFi, TV (with cable), good size bed, large modern bathroom and balcony. Very easy access to the Poblado area, over the road from supermarket and bus stop, it is an easy walk to central Poblado, the metro station, the nightlife district and the excellent Toucan Spanish School.

GREAT STAY FOR THE MONTH

  • 5 of 5

We stayed a month to explore the city & surrounding area & really enjoyed Dave's place! The small store across the street provided essentials & the bus to the metro stopped right there too! It met my 4C's criteria: Clean, cozy, convenient, & comfy- who could ask for more in a condo? Lots to see & do in Medellin too! Visit Sabaneta on the metro-cute town rapidly changing! Enjoy & thanks again Dave!
