Steve Shapiro purchased this house in 2006
The moment I saw this property, I knew I was going to live here!
Very peaceful and pastorale, yet within minutes of city services.
What a view! The house is situated on a mountain side with a beautiful view of San Francisco Bay.
The gourmet kitchen is a dream .... beds are very comfortable.
I would like to start by saying that i absolutely love staying at this home. I personally enjoy driving on unique paths but I suppose the drive to the house would be the biggest concern for someone who have vision problems at night or have problems with heights. There are some out standing views on the drive up and down the mountain. Be careful because bikers are all over the mountain along with lost of wild life. (mountain lions, turkeys and deers. The home itself was perfect place to relax after a long day of touring the san francisco and napa areas. The beds were comfortable, the temperatures were very nice and the shower made it easy to just want to stay in the home all day. Night time views of the sky was amazing and the dimming lights in the house allowed for any kind of mood to be set high energy or relaxing. Love the fact a washer and dryer was avaliable for use and 3 bathrooms in total all with showers so getting ready for the day was easy and no one had to fight for a bathroom. I would highly recommend this home to anyone. the only negative is that the home could certainly use some exterior cleaning.
this home met all of our expectations. it is a great place to stay and I would definitely stay here again!
From the booking six month ahead to the end of the stay, we felt welcome. Steve responded promtly to all needs. The location is perfect for visits of SF and the greater area. Close enough to get downtown within 45 min. by BART - don't try it with the car! Far away to enjoy quiet evenings and wonderful views over the Bay area. All the pictures in the advertisement give good impression of the house. When getting there it will be even bigger and so comfortable with a lot of equipment! We had a perfect stay! What kind of a compliment this is, will become clear, when you realize that it comes from a family with four teenagers.
Steve was a great host from beginning to end. He responded to my initial inquiry quite quickly and was very responsive when needed throughout our stay. The house was the perfect setting for our small group to stay, meet, plan and have some creative conversations. 3 of us stayed at the house and 3 others joined during the day at times. The layout, vistas, amenities and outdoor space all contributed to a successful and enjoyable time.
From the moment we walked in the gate we loved the house! The entry area and steps are natural tile with with simple decorations on the walls. The house is multi-level with 2 bedrooms and 1 bath in the back of the house, the master bedroom and bath are a half-level up, and the kitchen, living and dining room downstairs. The master bedroom and its small balcony have a bird's eye view of the Shepard Canyon below and the Oakland-San Francisco Bay in the distance. The master bathroom was spacious and luxurious with a large spa tub. The downstairs was very open and spacious, especially the kitchen and dining area. Both had a view of the back deck and canyon. The living area was cozy but had expansive windows which opened to the back trees and canyon. The outside deck was where we spent a lot of time enjoying the beauty of nature as we peered down and across the canyon to a sea of trees with the typical Bay Area fog drifting in and out. The kitchen was comfortable and had all the amenities we could think of. Behind the kitchen was a separate hallway with a bathroom and washer and dryer. The overall feel of the house was one of tasteful simplicity with a Zen-like feel. The owner was very easy to communicate with via email and phone if necessary. We had a problem with getting wifi so i called and he came over very quickly to fix the problem. He was also very accomodating and said we could use anything in the kitchen, even the beer that another renter had left in the refrigerator! Lastly, we were allowed to stay past the normal check out time since we had a 10pm flight and really enjoyed just hanging out at the house. I would definitely stay here again between the amazing house, the view and the owner's accommodating style.
