A lovely, charming, comfortable, nicely furnished one-story home, which was perfect for us. Kitchen had all the necessary amenities. Convenient location, quiet and very nice neighborhood, walking distance to Ocean Ave. Beautiful enclosed garden with BBQ to relax & cook outside is nice option. The comforts of your own home. Owner was very responsive to any questions and concerns. We will definitely come back here for our next visit to Carmel. Also perfect for well behaved pets.

Walk to the beach and town, it is perfect.
A repeat stay in this wonderful home. Last year we visited mid-January; this year we spent New Year's week. The home remains in excellent condition even with usage by other lucky renters through the year. You'll appreciate the well-kept properties and peaceful quality of this neighborhood as well. Also, the owners have recently repainted a portion of the home. The living room color is beautiful; as is the additional artwork. The property works equally well for our 4 legged German Shepherd Sadie who loves studying the squirrels from her happy spot in the terraced backyard or from the inside corner window which is just the right height for viewing.
Again, with such a warm and inviting place (nightly fires, reading, music, big TV) we chose to eat breakfasts and dinners here. Can't find a better atmosphere to enjoy pre-dinner cocktails either. The kitchen as everyone has stated has everything needed to satisfy any cook. One evening we splurged buying 2 crabs which made a yummy feast. Pop the cork!
Carmel is our idea of perfect in seasonal weather. We had a mix of rain with decent dry time during our week. The home's location made morning jaunts to town with Sadie ideal. Traipsing the same paths as last year, we love the walk above the ocean in Carmel then wandering through the neighborhoods nearby. The miles of scenic boardwalk from Pacific Grove to Monterey shouldn't be missed. Otters were abundant this year. Along the way, Spanish Bay is a good spot for a beer by the outside fire pits. Sadie, too, savored all the smells and made lots of new friends. During soggy times, with Sadie asleep (maybe) in the truck cab, we window shopped the streets of Carmel stopping for a drink once at Vesuvio (rooftop). On other days we visited some wineries and spent a few $$$ bucks. Our favorites remain Carmel Road, Albatross Ridge, and Mercy (in the Valley).
A fantastic getaway and start of our new year. Heartily recommend. We will return, maybe adding if available a warmer weather stay as well. Thanks again, Chris, for sharing your slice of paradise.
This is a great property to rent! It is very well furnished and maintained and although small (1,000 s.f.) it couldn't be laid out better . You can actually cook in the kitchen (which I did) and it has most of anything you would need, including nice dishes, pots and pans, good silverware and utensils, etc. It even had some basic spices and olive oil. The light in the house is very nice and it floods into the living room in the afternoon which is wonderful (unlike many Carmel properties that can be pretty dark). The backyard has a nice elevated patio that also gets good sun, both in the morning and the late afternoon/early evening. And, it is totally private. We were able to walk into town from this location. If I were to say anything negative it is that the master bath has a couple of steep steps down from the bedroom which could be difficult for some people. The house, however has good night lights in the rooms (incl. bathrooms) so one isn't having to negotiate it in the dark. Overall, this is a lovely house to rent and the owners were very attentive and easy to work with.
Not a lot to add to previous reviews; this is a five star property with a five star host. Close enough to downtown and the beach but out of the main tourist area. Well equipped for family and dogs. One of the best homes we've rented; we do this about five times a year. Hope to stay again.
Our second year we stayed here. We love this place. Very clean, very comfortable, very quiet & nice neighborhood, great location, beautiful, clean, relaxing and inviting backyard, also beautiful front yard w landscape lighting. We appreciate the motion detector lighting for late arrival and coming back at night. Home and kitchen fully equipped. Pride of ownership and attention to detail are evident. Added new appliances and recirculating hot water pump this past year. BUT most importantly to us is the home is so dog friendly as well. Our two standard poodles felt right at home, relaxing in the sunny patio in the backyard. Well equipped for dogs as well.
- Very accommodating owner.
- Discovered tennis/Pickleball courts only 2 blocks away.
- My wife discovered the Dyson vacuum cleaner here. She loved it so much, we bought one for ourselves yesterday.
Same time next year 😎. Of course by giving such a glowing review, we hope that this home will be available for us next year.

Over the years we have stayed in a variety of homes in different areas. My hubby, our dog Sadie, and I have rented in Pacific Grove, but never in Carmel. This home offered a weekly rental rather than the 30-day minimum in much of Carmel. But most important you have just scored the jackpot - a 5 star residence. This home was the perfect size for us. However, with a lovely 2nd bedroom and adjoining full bath, another couple or child would fit comfortably. The layout is spacious, open, light filled with many windows and skylights, yet cozy. We loved spending our evenings by the fire reading, listening to music or the rain, or watching our favorite movies on the big TV (brought our own small blu-ray player). The home is SO well equipped and looks brand new. The kitchen is a dream visually and appliance wise (especially the Samsung washer and dryer - makes me want to sabotage my own just to buy them). From quality dog bowls to all types of accessories and glassware including martini glasses and shaker (thank you), cookware and dishes in new condition, there was nothing we lacked, which prompted us to eat in regularly. The master bedroom is lovely with the step-down bath and overhead skylight (and yes, hot water). Big closet (lots of hangars), a very comfy bed. Sadie, on dry days, was in heaven in the backyard constantly alert for signs of squirrels in the beautiful oak trees. Knowing the yard is secure for her was a real plus. Hopefully, we'll be able to return here during a warmer time so we, too, can enjoy the nicely designed outside patio area.
Great location. Not only are you a short walk from downtown Carmel, but there's a good neighborhood park a few blocks down the hill which was handy for walking Sadie each morning. As a quality "base camp", we walked the path along the ocean in Carmel, drove to Pacific Grove and walked the boardwalk from Asilomar to bird rock, walked the ocean path from Pacific Grove public golf course to Monterey (saw otters), ventured to Big Sur (Nepenthe and Rocky Point). With 15+ wineries in Carmel, 20+ in Carmel Valley, we visited several during our week. Sadie even joined us at the dog friendly Cypress Inn one afternoon. We also took the 17 mile drive to Pebble Beach and Spanish Bay (where we 3 warmed up around the ocean view outside firepit).
The owner, Chris, was very accommodating and helpful . With such super reviews we can only hope there will be availability for a return visit later this year .
Short walk to Carmel-by-the-Sea restaurants, art galleries, shopping, and beach.
World-class golf courses nearby.
