About Lori Kennedy

We loved Lake Anna at first sight. We wanted a place where our children could build memories and spend time with friends and family. The property is 5 acres, so the kids have room to run around and explore. It's a great place to come and just relax.

Lori Kennedy purchased this house in 2005

Why Lori Kennedy chose Central Virginia

When we built the house the children were young. We were looking for lake front property that had a gentle slope and a contained shallow area for the kids to place. We built the dock so that the young kids could wade in the shallow water while the adults could either swim or relax on the dock. We have a picnic table under a tree so we often have lunch right by the water.

Wonderful home that is great for a large group.

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful home that is great for a large group. This home really had everything. Large bedrooms with two large Livingrooms. Televisions in all bedrooms and large screen TVs in both living rooms. Screen porch and open decking with a large gas grill. Fully stocked kitchen with appliances, dishware, knives and spices. Two refrigerators which was a huge convenience. Beautiful sand beach for sunbathing. Large dock area for several boats and for sitting in the sun or shade. Boat ramp was very convenient for boats and kayaks. Two kayaks were provided. Beautiful lawn area for sunbathing and games. We can't wait to go back to this wonderful home. Highly recommend it

Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

If you are looking for a comfortable, spacious house on Lake Anna, look no further!

This is perfect for larger groups/families traveling together. We were three families, with kids ranging in age from 2 to 10. Ideally, we wanted space for everyone to get together for meals and games, but also spread out when needed, and this provided just that. The living room, kitchen, and dining room were open to one another, so everyone could socialize easily. There were three bedrooms on the main level (master with a HUGE bathroom, and two separate queen bedrooms that shared a hall bathroom), which was perfect for the three couples. Downstairs, there is a bunk room (two twin over double bunks), as well as another queen room, which fit our kids nicely. Downstairs also has a huge tv, comfy sofa, and ping pong table, so our kids were endlessly entertained, allowing the adults to lounge upstairs. There is also a laundry room, which comes in handy, especially when traveling with kids.

The kitchen was stocked with everything we need - spices, pots, pans, plenty of dinnerware, garbage bags, even a crockpot. While we didn't need it, there is a second fridge downstairs, should you be staying for a prolonged period or in need of more refrigeration.

And the location was perfect! We did go during the winter, so we didn't get to enjoy the lake as much as we would have had it been warmer. But, the house is located right on the lake with a sandy beach area - perfect for kids who want to dip in the water. There is also a fire pit - a big hit with the kids for smores. The grocery store is nearby, so if you have to run out for odds and ends, it's no stress.

Working with Lori was a pleasure. She answered all my questions in a timely manner and gave us all the info we would need to make sure our stay was a pleasant one.

Overall, we had a wonderful stay and hope to return in the summer to fully enjoy all Lake Anna has to offer. When we do, we'll be sure to pick this house again!

Memory Filled Week

  • 5 of 5

This was our first family trip to Lake Anna and it was amazing. The home fit our family needs perfectly. Having four grandchildren the beach area was extremely important and did not disappoint in the least. Fantastic swimming for the entire family. We cannot wait to book our family vacation for next year. Thank you so much for a wonderful week.

Even better than expected!

  • 5 of 5

The pictures of this house and waterfront looked amazing and I didn't really think it would live up to expectations but it was absolutely amazing. The beach area was perfect for kids and adults to swim all day. Sandy with a gradual slope into beautiful clear 87 degree water. The covered boat slip saved us from having to cover the boat at night like we've done at other places. The house is large and comfortable with a perfect layout for our 3 families with young kids. There was plenty of space to spread out. Lots of table space at mealtime. Just awesome all around. Can't wait to go back!

Wonderful! Planning to go back!

  • 5 of 5

We went as a group of 14 people with 3 families (8 children 4 and under). We fit comfortable in the house!

**Review of the lake - the lake is awesome. The intake temp was 84 and the discharge temp was 98 which made a nice 88-93 degree lake depending on where you were. Our cove was maybe on the cooler side (88), but our kids were in the water at 8am when it was 67 degrees outside. They LOVED it. We thought the lake was a great size and it wasn't busy at all. We rarely ran in to another boat during the week and on the weekends - maybe 3-5 boats. All watersports were great!

***Review of the house - this house was perfect for our families. Each of the parents had a room to themselves (upstairs master, upstairs queen and downstairs queen). We each had a child in with us (pack n plays and closets - the downstairs closet fit the pack in play perfectly). Master bath was great - huge shower and large jet tub. Four kids shared the bunk room and then one child was in the twin room. You cannot hear much downstairs except foot traffic from above. The kitchen is well stocked with spices, utensils and extra stuff like a crock pot, large roasting pan, parge pot, etc. There was nothing that we wished we had. The dining room we only used for lunch - kids ate at the picnic table and adults ate in the screened in porch which was awesome. Plenty of room. Living room was only used for naps during the day and a puzzle but was more spacious than the photos lead you to believe. The downstairs was great for a playroom - we mainly used it for movies in the afternoon and evening. There is a wet bar with a mini fridge down there. There is a bathroom, laundry room, and storage room that has a regular fridge (good for beer/drinks, extra food).

***Outside - the outdoor space was great - the sand beach and kayaks were a hit. We made a few fires for s'mores. What made this house so perfect for us was the "zero-entry" beach into the water. The beach slopes to a comfortable 4-5ft by the END of the dock. Like I said, the water is clear and so letting our beginning swimmers play around was perfect. The dock was spacious and it was so nice to have a covered boat slip. The extenion of the dock into the water (L-shape) made it a perfect "swimming zone" boundary for our kiddos. The boathouse had life jackets, paddles, tables, chairs and electricity for music down by the lake.

***We will abdsolutey be returning to Lake Anna and can't find a better house than this!

Great Spot on the Private Side!

  • 5 of 5

The house was as advertised. The perfect setting for both children and adults. The house has everything you need. Easy walk down to the lake. Very nice boat dock that kept our boat out of the elements. The beach was the ideal spot for the little kids, no retaining wall to fall down over. If you're looking for a private getaway on the warm side this is the one!

Map

Wine Tasting.

Monticello is about an hour away and always a joy to visit.

There are many Civil War sites in the area.

Charlottesville and the University of Virginia are about 50 miles away.

And really just playing in the water and puttering around on the kayak or having the kids fish off the dock is what we spend most of our time doing.
