About Laura Poritsky

I grew up summering in Scituate, since both parents were teachers and we still have family there. Mother was a Mayflower Descendant; so the family and the town history is something special that we want to hold on to.

Even after the long ride in from Ohio, we are so glad to keep visiting the house, at least twice a year. We have made great memories with our child (the fourth generation) there, but also like to let other families experience the charm of a house on the Scituate Harbor.

Laura Poritsky purchased this house in 2012

Why Laura Poritsky chose Scituate

GrandDad bought the property with a wee summer cabin in 1930 and lived in an inland house in Scituate. My Mother was born and raised there and hoped it would stay in the family for many more generations. The Perfect Storm (as seen in the movie) took the old Cabin and then we rebuilt the new/current house in 1992 and we renovated it in 2012.

What makes this house unique

From the moment you arrive, no matter the season, there are the relaxing sounds and smells of the ocean. We love the open concept and ocean views from every room. I enjoy the summer sunrise with coffee on the deck and an early walk to the Lighthouse. Sunset views at the dining room table feels like you are on the water. Of course we love the summer swimming, but even the Winter is beautiful there with the fireplace, Christmas tree and harbor view.

We have had great feedback from our guests. Many of them say, 'it is even better than the photos' and many guests return year after year.

Just spent a week enjoying the house and the relaxing view. Very good location right on the water and close enough to walk into town.

Can't wait to stay here again!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I can't say enough good things about our stay here. The owner, Laura P, was so easy to deal with, responsive, and easily accessible. The property itself was in a PERFECT location, and fit our family of 5 perfectly. The home is so organized that everything is easy to find. We packed light since the home came with just about everything we needed. My three teen boys had a great time, as well, with places to walk to or a quick drive. We would have stayed longer if possible. We all can't wait to stay here again in the future.

We visited for 3 weeks and had a great time. Location is terrific and view is wonderful. It is quiet and my granddaughters loved swimming right off the deck. Owner was very nice and responded promptly.
