Awesome for large family reunion
This house was great for our large family reunion of 20-something people coming and going. Big, well-equipped kitchen, 2 big sinks and 2 gas stoves, plenty of seating and dishes for all to sit down together for meals, dedicated bathrooms for each bedroom (no bathroom traffic), great deck for being outside, plenty of gathering spaces for sitting, chatting, playing music, doing puzzles in various subgroup sizes. Note that the top floor bathrooms have curtains rather than doors, so get ready to be cozy with your roommates. But everything in the house is updated and functional. Nothing falling apart or outdated.
For the kids: Two staircases so the kids had a great time running in loops through the house (up one staircase, down the hall, down the other staircase, back through the bottom of the house, and repeat). Description specifies stairs down from deck as baby hazard but the owners actually got baby gates for us (without us even asking) and helped us install them to keep baby safe on the deck. The kids also had fun jumping over the tiny creek in the back yard. Multiple bathrooms have bathtubs. Other than the steep stairs up from the ground floor, the house is actually relatively baby friendly (not full of breakable decorative items or hazards). Fire pit out back for roasting marshmallows. Baseball field, basketball court, and very small playground all within easy ~5min walking distance to get the kids out and active.
Not totally clear from the description: some of the owners' family lives in one part of the house. They were very accommodating, helpful, and friendly without being intrusive. (But nice to know so you're not surprised when they pop their heads in the kitchen for a cup of coffee from the coffeemaker, or also want to enjoy the bbq and shared deck at dinnertime...) Also a big positive: unlike many other houses that can fit a crowd this big, they don't have a 7-day minimum rental.
Note that some cell carriers don't have reception here. Ask the owners about who does have reception/what signal booster they have, if it's important to you to be connected during your stay.
Totally positive experience, no complaints. Would absolutely recommend for large groups.
Very comfortable and had everything we needed
We had a blast getting five families together at this former inn. Joe is a very nice guy, grounds are beautiful, had all the amenities we wanted.
Room, room, room! Lots of space to spread out and relax!
Our family traveled from Denver, Chicago, Cleveland, Boston, Hartford and Washington DC to enjoy time together for a birthday celebration. Everyone had their own space, places to relax or visit, and a wonderful kitchen to easily prepare meals for 10-12 each day. Lovely large bedrooms were welcome at the end of a day of hiking and biking at nearby Mt. Sunapee. Great location and the house and grounds are well maintained with lots of flowers in the gardens, hanging baskets and porch flower boxes - something the winter visitors miss! Our whole group highly recommends this gracious and welcoming place.
We all enjoyed our stay immensely. The Inn was clean and the caretaker was polite and very helpful.
I would recommend to anyone wanting to go to New Hampshire to stay here. The price was comparable to srounding rentals. The Inn is also close to many places so you can stay real busy if you want or just relax and enjoy the sirenity. Very clean and easy to get around in.
Spacious, clean, convienent, relaxing. Great spot for group of cyclists looking to train.
My group of 12 cyclists had the most enjoyable time staying here. There was plenty of room for all. The kitchen had everything one might need for cooking for a large party and we used the outdoor grill too. The owner of the property, Joe, was very accommodating and met us when we arrived. He even allowed us to put our 12 bikes in the attached barn/garage, which was most appreciated.
Let’s talk about the cycling. Tons of great, quiet roads around the house. We rode multiple routes ranging from 20-80 miles in all directions. You want dirt roads? Plenty of them. You want to climb? Tons of climbing. You want rolling terrain? That too. Not much flat stuff out there , but that was fine with us.
All in all, a great place to stay with friends or family. The grounds are well kept and it’s clear that Joe takes pride in maintaining his property. We’d definitely return in the future!
Great beautiful house.accomodating for a big gathering
Joe was responsive to our questions and my family had a great time .well kept house.
Our property is in a New England Village setting, with Mount Sunapee and Lake Sunapee less than 15 minutes, a grocery store and liquor store within 7 miles, and Dunkin Donuts and pizza shop within walking distance. Connect to walking trails, snow mobile trails, cross country skiing trails all from our home. Skate on our pond, enjoy the 3 acre grounds, or just relax on the Gazebo Porch or in front of the wood fire... we truly have it all and love to share it with our guests!
