About Tom or Bonnie Page

Bonnie and I live on a beautiful lake in northern Michigan in the summers. In the winters we head south. Bonnie is a graduate of Michigan State University and I am an alumnus of the University of Michigan. We were small business owners until we sold our company several years ago and retired. Now we look after our investments and each serve on a couple of boards of directors to keep us busy. We are both avid exercisers and have completed over a dozen marathons including the Traverse City Marathon.

Tom or Bonnie Page purchased this condo in 2014

Why Tom or Bonnie Page chose Northwest

We planned a family reunion in Traverse City a few years ago and fell in love with the area. What's not to love? It's Northern Michigan at its finest. We like that you can have access to so many big city amenities in such a wonderful small town. The foodie scene is sumptuous and it just keeps getting better. Traverse Bay is beautiful and whether you want to spend the morning biking or running on the TART trail, sipping wine in the afternoon or listening to fabulous music at night it's all close by.

What makes this condo unique

Did we mention we are Downtown Traverse City? That is the biggest selling point for us. Park the car and walk to the beach, to the farmers market, to the food trucks, to shopping and world class restraurants like the Cooks House. What more could you want? Maybe a beautiful condo that is open and airy. A kitchen that is well stocked and perfect for cooking. Or a balcony that has a 'peek' at the Bay. It's all here at 'Mon Cherri'.

No Privacy!

  • 2 of 5

The accommodations were clean and everything was in working order. However many of the furnishings appeared very inexpensive and or homemade. The kitchen table was actually fabricated from an interior door! to say it was wobbly would be an understatement. We had drinks spill on multiple occasions due to someone else in the group bumping the table, or simply cutting their food. The bunk bed system in the upper level was again home made. The strangest feature (or lack there of) was the absence of curtains or blinds on the main level. There was wonderful natural light during the day which was very nice . That said, I would have preferred to be able to have some privacy as people on the street level could see in , it was like being in a fish bowl. Very strange

Owner's Response: We are sorry we did not meet your expectations. We have tried very hard to provide a comfortable, first class experience. We have never had anyone comment negatively on the dinning room table, bunk bed or curtains. In fact we get many positive comments on our furnishings including the bunk bed design. We too love all the positive natural light that streams into the condo, and have never had an issue with the lack of curtains on the main floor which is a full story up from the street. We think our VRBO photos are clear and accurately reflect our condo. Thank you for your feedback.

We had a wonderful time!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed between Christmas and New Years and the place is walking distance to downtown. The downtown area was all decorated in lights for the holidays. It was a good location. The place had plenty of room and was very clean and neat. We were able to walk to Scalawags for fish and also a few breweries. Great time, beautiful place!

Mom's getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay was wonderful! The condo was very clean, nicely decorated and very well kept. It was a hit with all of us moms. Close to everything downtown. So much better than a hotel because we could all just hang out and relax together. I will for sure be recommending to others and will probably be back ourselves.

Great condo, great location. We had an awesome time at Mon Cherri!

  • 5 of 5

The condo had everything we needed and was in a perfect location. We were in town for a wedding that was across the street at the West Bay Beach Resort and could easily walk downtown to restaurants and shops. We will definitely be back to stay at Mon Cherri!

Downtown, Spacious, Clean & Convenient

  • 5 of 5

We stayed 5 days at Mon Cherri leading up to a weekend wedding in Kingsley. This condo is a one floor walk-up, located just off Front Street (Traverse City's Main Street) and it was an easy walk to the beach. The first floor was very clean and spacious with a full kitchen, half bath, living room seating for 5 and a dining room that seats 8, and a nice balcony with seating for 4. All bedrooms are located upstairs, each with its own TV, plenty of closet space and full length mirrors. The top floor also included a washer / dryer and the full bath with his & her sinks. Doors have key code access.

We had two vehicles. Although there is only one parking spot assigned to the Mon Cherri unit, we didn't have any issues finding a second spot in the spillover parking area. In fact, we were in town during a Friday night festival on Front Street and our car was the only one parked in that row of 10+ spaces.

Tips for travelers to this area.

1. Traverse City has a local noise ordinance that calls for quiet time between 10pm - 7am. We found that many businesses and restaurants closed by 9pm - 10pm as well. North Peak Brewing Company is worth the walk to the other end of Front Street -- large, cool space, local craft beer, and great food. They have an outdoor patio as well... but that closes at 10pm, naturally. They have a parking lot as well for those who may not want to trek by foot.

2. We tried a few of the local coffee shops and found that Cherry Republic had some of the tastiest coffee in the area in terms of a french or dark roast that seems to be more difficult to come by all the time. Throw in a splash of cherry coffee for local flavor. Brew is a hotspot for hipsters, pour over coffee... they even have Nitro. Morsels Coffee was on the lighter side, but their little wooded seating area on the river was nice. BLK MRKT is offset from Front Street by a couple blocks in the Warehouse District... nice vibe, cool little shops within the warehouse, quieter setting.

3. Wine? There's a really nice wine shop a little further down Front Street. It also has a large deli counter with sandwiches, salads and a gourmet grocery. It reminds me of some of the lunch markets we see roadside in Napa. Folgarelli's Market, 424 W Front. They have outdoor seating as well.

Comfortable space at Mon Cherri, and a nice vacation city. We would stay here again.

Our second home is located just 3 tenths of a mile from downtown Traverse City.

Downtown offers great restaurants, shopping, music, art and all seasons activities. In downtown you will find restaurants that foodies will love or fare for those seeking just a great meal. In the recent years Traverse City has seen a growth in Micro Breweries, many of which are found in downtown area. Downtown offers a variety of shopping for all types, ranging from boutiques to outdoor shops. The historic State Theater and Bijou By The Bay offer movies for the both the older and younger generations. Just out the door the possibilities are endless.

The surrounding areas around Traverse City are filled with 4 season activities. It is a outdoor-lovers paradise with each of the four seasons offering nearly endless opportunities to experience all Mother Nature has to offer. You can hike, golf, sail, bike, motorboat, snowshoe, ski, cross country ski, the things to do are limitless. Listed below are some of the activities.

Around Traverse City the backdrop of forested hills, water and woods provide a incomparable experience when it comes to golfing. The area has been referred to as Michigan's Golf Coast. Golf Magazine selected the region as one of the top six golf destinations in the country.

The Old Mission Peninsula is 19 miles long and separates East Grand Traverse Bay from West Grand Traverse Bay. It's base can be easily reached from this rental property. The peninsula is a great place to explore. From it's beautiful roadways and beaches, to the many local wineries that can be found on the peninsula, it offers endless opportunities for the traveler. The views of both bays that can be found are an explorers delight.

The Tart Trail is located just a stones throw away. This bike trail is a 10.5 mile long urban transportation and recreation corridor with an eastern end point at M-72 in Acme Township and a western end point at Carter Road in Traverse City, where it links with the leelanlau Trail. The leelanlau trail is 15.5 miles in length that extends from Traverse City to Suttons Bay. In the winter months these trails offer great places to X-ski and snowshoe.

Just don't let the local Traverse City area be your home. Leelanau County our neighbor to the west offers the quaint small towns of Suttons Bay, Northport, Maple City, Glen Arbor, Empire and Leland. All of these towns offer shopping and good restaurants. The county itself has trails that are good for hiking, X-sking and snowshoeing. The biggest attraction you'll find in Leelanau County is Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lake Shore. Here you will find beautiful sand dunes, bike trails, hiking/snowshoeing trails, dune climb and the famous Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive. This amazing drive takes you through the park seeing the forest, dunes and ultimately to a breath taking view of Lake Michigan.

North of Traverse City there are many great areas to visit as well. The towns of Elk Rapids, Bellaire, Charlevoix and Petoskey all offer great activities
