About the property

2 bedrooms on the Ogunquit River, walk to beach and town. Great for 4 people!

Simple, Clean and Bright! Secluded, yet only minutes to the beaches or town. With over one acre, and 250 feet of riverfront, this bright and efficient two-bedroom, one-bath home with open-beamed cathedral ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows, sitting right on the Ogunquit River, is the perfect, peaceful retreat for up to four people. Modern furnishings and hardwood floors throughout compliment the beautiful river view (with possible wildlife - river beaver, dear, snapping turtle, heron, wood ducks ++ - sightings!) and make this home unique and comfortable. A fenced yard, three patio areas including a tiki bar with a propane grill, a comfortable sitting area with a fire pit and a screened dining porch, along with horseshoe pits and a kayak all providing multiple opportunities to enjoy the out-of-doors!

Walk to town and the beach, or rent a bike! It is less than 1 mile to Ogunquit and to the Footbridge Beach (an easily accessible and quieter, beautiful sloping, sandy beach area connected to, and north of the Main Town Beach), downtown shops, galleries and restaurants.

Guests have access to the fully equipped (including dishwasher, large microwave, toaster, blender and Keurig coffee maker - bring those k-cups!) kitchen with everything you need to eat-in, have a BBQ, or enjoy a clam/lobster bake.

High-quality bed linens are featured in both of the bedrooms (one King and one double bed) each with their own TVs. Flat screen smart TV mounted in the living room gives you cable and internet access to NETFLIX and more. A wireless wifi Bose Sound Machine offers quality options for background or party-time music. Bath towels are provided. Four beach chairs with umbrellas and a beach cart are available.

There are three patio areas, including a high top table with stools and a BBQ grill, a fire pit with lounge chairs, and a screened outdoor dining area, along with a double chair swing. There is off-road parking for two vehicles.

Guests should bring their own beach towels, bicycles and/or kayaks, food (of course), and personal supplies.

Guests will be welcomed by our property manager soon after arrival. The property manager is available 24/7 .

This unique property is located on a quiet street in a rural setting on the Ogunquit River just a short distance from the picturesque coastal Village of Ogunquit. Ogunquit which means, beautiful place by the sea, is located in Southern Maine and is well known for its' 3 miles of beautiful white sand beaches.

Spring, Summer and Fall offer a busy vacationer's mecca! Ogunquit is touted as a wonderful strolling town by Down East magazine where you'll find many quaint shops, art galleries, great restaurants, coffee shops, ice cream and lobster rolls. Minutes away you will find picturesque Perkins Cove with more artisan galleries, restaurants and lobster rolls! There is a harbor full of boats offering deep sea fishing, scenic cruises and sailing. Perkins Cove is the beginning of the famous Marginal Way (one of Ogunquit's precious jewels) a one mile walk/pathway that follows the rocky coastline to the center of Ogunquit Village.

There is also a lot to do if you are not at the beach all day! Shopping, biking, wine tastings, sailing, whale watches, nature reserves, nearby picturesque towns and more. There is the very popular Ogunquit Playhouse with top-notch productions throughout the summer. From Ogunquit you can quickly access miles of sandy beaches, designated conservation areas and rocky coastline.

Autumn in Maine is beautiful as the changing seasons bring the opportunity for leaf peeping as you enjoy milder temps and a quieter seaside town. Dogs are allowed on the beach after Labor Day, so us dog lovers, love Fall! The view from the expansive front windows of the property is beautiful as leaves fall on the river and the long light of Fall reflects on the colors of the leaves.

Winter has many attractions as well! While the town of Ogunquit itself becomes very quiet through the winter months (although there are still places to eat out and shop), Leeward Landing offers the perfect get away from it all. It is a retreat where you can watch the weather while snugged up inside with a good book, a puzzle or a long nap to rejuvenate the mind, body and soul.

Visitors may want to drive, but the Footbridge Beach is within walking distance or you can take our bikes! There the Ogunquit trolley (seasonal) can pick you up to go downtown, to Perkins Cove or just about anywhere you want to go in Ogunquit. There is also a open air beach shuttle great for going out on the town in the evening.

Now renting for FULL WEEKS (Saturday 3pm - Saturday 11am) Mid-June through October. Non-refundable 50% deposit due to confirm non-cancelable booking; full non-refundable payment due 30 days prior to arrival. Payment in full required for 3-night rentals at time of booking.

Leeward Landing is fenced and is dog friendly with special permission, (well mannered, appropriately supervised dogs will be welcomed.) As dog owners ourselves (we have 3 dogs, Ollie, Rosie and Baxter) we understand and appreciate the difficulties of finding really nice accomodations that welcome our pups. We look for and emphasize guests and their dogs (2 maximum) respecting our home, yard and furniture so that we might continue to offer our home to other pets and their people. We provide scoopers, bags and a can, to tend to your dogs and ask that you make good use of them. We also provide extra coverings for the beds and furniture to help keep the furnishings nice for everyone. Two dog bowls and a water dish are provided. There is a $150/week pet fee.

About Cathy Hunter

Hello my name is Cathy! I grew up in New England, went to West Chester University in Pennsylvania and currently live with my partner, three dogs and two cats on 5 acres in a beautiful log cabin in Deerfield, Massachusetts. I have worked for nearly 20 years as a realtor in western Massachusetts so I see a lot of properties - and when I saw this property, which we call 'Leeward Landing' , I knew we had found a gem!

We love visiting Ogunquit whenever we can, whether to poke around the village, wander Marginal Way, kick along the beach, or explore the neighboring coves and secret hide-aways, and are pleased to be able to share this special retreat with you.

Cathy Hunter purchased this house in 2014

Why Cathy Hunter chose Southern Coast

We purchased this property in September 2014 because we love Maine, really enjoy the coastal beach towns through the year and Ogunquit has some of the best beaches in New England. We fell in love with this property because of the serene riverfront location, coupled with the amazingly close proximity to all Ogunquit has to offer and the pristine condition of the property.

What makes this house unique

We named our property Leeward Landing because, while it is incredibly proximate to everything Ogunquit has to offer in the way of beaches, restaurants, clubs, outdoor activities and more, it is just off of the beaten track. Being on the river provides a quite, peaceful respite from the high-energy, people-packed in-town and beach experience.

As your hosts we want you to have the best experience possible when you stay at our property. Our property manager, John, will meet you upon arrival and be available to address any questions or concerns during your stay.

Leeward Landing offers a private retreat with unique indoor and outdoor spaces for you to spread out, relax, renew and have fun while still being only moments away from all the action and activities on the windward side or busier side of town!

Family, Relaxing, Beach,

Another great vacation at Leward Landing. This was our second year renting with Cathy and it did not disappoint. The house is very clean, anything you need Cathy has it there. The house is located on a quiet street and within walking distance of Footbridge Beach. Walking to dinner is right down the block, many restaurants to choose from. Can also stay home and grill, hang out in the back by the fire pit and roast marshmallows. Will definitely book next year!

We've stayed at the house each summer for the last three years, and we are never disappointed. The house is clean, well-equipped, incredibly dog-friendly, and close to everything we could possibly need. Thank you to Cathy for another wonderful vacation!

Leeward is an 11 on a scale of 1-10

My spouse and I along with our dog Coco spent almost the first 2 weeks of October at beautiful Leeward Landing. It was everything that the description gave and more. Cathy thought of absolutely everything!! From the welcome basket for us and Coco, to the doggie ice cream in the freezer and dog beds and toys etc we could not have felt more at home. The property was beautiful, view of the river and the foliage from the floor to ceiling windows was amazing. The fenced in yard was perfect for Coco and so great to be on vacation and just open the door and let her out! We also want to comment on how clean the house was, probably the cleanest rental we have every had. Cathy also left a great book on how to use TV, Netflix etc and also had Wi-fi connection. We had a lot of different road trips planned and ended up spending much more time at Leeward than expected. There are so many other amenities, screened in area in yard, swing, tiki bar and a kayak. Usually after 2 weeks away from home we are ready to go and it was not the case at Leeward.. would have liked to stay another 2 weeks. Hoping to go back next year and for many years to come. Cathy, thanks so much for everything as it was one of our best vacations ever and more so because we could bring Coco with us!

Marvelous Rental Property

  • 5 of 5

A chaming home with several amenities. The surrounding wooded area along the Ognonquit River is magical. Quiet street that allows for a restful night sleep. Views from the home are scenic. Less than a 2 minute ride to town. AC and washer and dryer are a huge plus. Our dogs loved the fenced in yard and exploring all there is to see. Owners are very attentive to the care and maintenace of the property. A hidden jewel you don't want to pass up.
