Wonderful home away from home
Casa Perla was fantastic! Very spacious, comfortable and very clean! We had storms and high winds on our last night which made the power go out all over the neighborhood, through the morning. The property manager, Val, was very responsive and went out of her way to make sure we had hot showers before we left. This was our first time on Vieques. And while we didn't mind having our accommodations near the "locals" in Isabella, the next time we might consider staying closer to Esperanza. Overall though, staying at Casa Perla was a wonderful experience.
Perfect lodging for a perfect Vieques vacation!
We had an amazing experience at Casa Perla Fina in Vieques! The house is beautiful and clean outside and inside - it has everything you would need and more. The pictures do not do it justice - even more beautiful! The attention to detail is amazing - everything you need in the kitchen, all beach gear necessary (towels, chairs, umbrella, snorkel gear, beach toys, hammocks, coolers), plenty of soft towels and linens, toiletries, washer and dryer with detergent available, comfortable beds and furniture, outside shower, grill, games to play with our 7-year-old son, etc.. The hilltop location was perfect for us - 5 minute drive to Isabel, 15 minutes to the best beaches, 15 minutes to Esperanza - yet it was far enough away from it all so that we could enjoy some quiet time after a day of exploring. The view was amazing - eating breakfast on the deck with a breeze and view of the ocean was one of our favorite times of the day - and even more so if a horse or 5 happened by! Val (the house manager) was knowledgable and answered all of my questions within minutes. We would highly recommend Casa Perla Fina and would stay there again in a heartbeat!
The Ocean view was more than magnificent - the Casa Perla Fina House was perfect for our family of 4!
The house was very clean, the beds were very comfortable, the kitchen was well stocked with appliances and everyday kitchen items.
The vehicle parking was just outside of the gate and front porch was large with a hammock off to one side. There were just two little steps otherwise everything was on one level which made it very nice when carrying in groceries, beach items and luggage.
Val, the Housekeeper, was very helpful in pointing things out and being available by cell phone when needed. Only one small item that was a temporary issue - a local Rooster who who started some of his day earlier than what we preferred!
Highly recommended !!
Wonderful Chirstmas Present!
Great home, great location, and great memories. House was as described with all the amenities needed for a vacation on Vieques. There's even a closet full of beach equipment- chairs, hammocks, umbrella, coolers, snorkel gear, and pails & shovels. Lay out of the house was perfect, with a nice sitting area, well stocked kitchen and two very spacious bedrooms. Best spot was the porch, it faces the Atlantic Ocean with Puerto Rico and Cuelabra within view. Mornings were spent with coffee watching the sun rise over the hill behind the house and afternoons sipping a cocktail laying on the outside hammock. Ana, the owner was very responsive and Val, the property manager was exceptional. She met us at the car rental agency, took us to the house and spent quite amount of time detailing it. She was very responsive and offered quite a few recommendations while on the island. All in all, it was a wonderful time and will definitiely be back to La Perla Fina!
Clean, comfortable and amazing views
Amenities were as stated and more. Everything you would expect in a household and more. From our location on the hill top we could see the ocean in the distance on what seemed to be three sides. We made breakfast each day but enjoyed one of the many great restaurants for other meals. I didn't need to bring my hair dryer, fan or beach towels. Even lotion and "Off" was provided. We enjoyed visits from the neighbor's four friendly dogs which was great since our pets at home were missed. Everything was sparkly clean and easy to keep that way with washer, dryer and supplies. Val, the property manager picked us up as promised at the ferry dock and provided a contact who rented us a car at a reasonable rate which turned out great.
I would highly recommend a stay at Casa Perla Fina, plenty of room, I wish we had brought others there to share the accommodations.
We really enjoyed the large selection of excellent restaurants, things move a bit slower than we are used to in Illinois but we relaxed and enjoyed the ambiance. Some of our favorites were Tin Box for sushi plus a lovely little handmade jewelry store attached. Bili's for lunch with souvenir shopping on premises and across the street. Mamasonga was great for bar type food, Coqui Fire was a hoot for eclectic Mexican and a bar tender with attitude! Blue Moon Bay and at night Belly Buttons for live music.
We went on two tours: The Bio Luminescent Bay tour was magical, best to do that one on a dark night when there's a new moon. I recommend going out in the kayaks if you can, rather than the pontoon boat, it puts you closer to the viewing action, we used Blue Waters Tours, very educational. Another tour was that of the Sugar Mill Ruins, Anthony the tour guide was the best and entertaining.
The best beaches we visited were on the south side of the island in Esperanza over by the Refuge in La Chiva Bay. There was a lady at the Refuge Center who was very helpful in directing us. Never was there a crowd at the beach, always plenty of room.
Most of all we enjoyed the horses roaming free everywhere, along with dogs, cats and chickens. All animals seemed healthy and well fed. Everyone we met was so friendly and accommodating. In the evening it was always a comfort to return to our little get-away. Definitely an experience we will never forget. Thank you Ana and Val! Best Regards, Patti & Ron
Breezy, Great Views, Charming Decor, All Your Needs Are Furnished!
This stand-alone house with convenient off-street parking has got everything you could need in a vacation home including a great view of the mainland of Puerto Rico and the sister island, Culebra. Situated almost at the top of a hill, there is also an expansive view of the small town of Isabel Segunda and its surrounding neighborhoods. The home’s comfortable cross breezes kept us in comfort without needing the bedroom air conditioners. If you chose Vieques because of the horses you won’t be disappointed by staying here. We thought the home was decorated and furnished to perfection for an island retreat. We particularly appreciated the spacious wrap around porch, large shower, paint colors, quality bedding and towels, and unique and tasteful decorative touches.
Our favorite place to eat on the island was Coqui Fire Cafe, a gourmet Mexican restaurant, but you need reservations because it is small and popular! We hit almost all the beaches on the island. You will be sure to find several that meet your needs depending on if you want to sunbathe, hunt for sea glass, snorkel, swim, etc. They are all a short drive away.
Just one thing to be aware of: This is a typical Caribbean island with many dogs and chickens. If you run the bedroom air conditioner (one in each bedroom) you probably won’t be disturbed by crowing or barking during your sleep, otherwise the sounds are one of those island charms, that come with living and vacationing on a Caribbean Island.
