About Mark Roberts

I have been a permanent resident of Breckenridge since 1972. I arrived without even knowing there was a ski area here and fell in love with the mountains, the people and the skiing. It's a pleasure to share what I have been blessed with.

Mark Roberts purchased this house in 1996

Why Mark Roberts chose Breckenridge

I built the Harris St. House in 1996 to offer a quality experience for families to vacation together and have the convenience of walking to all that Breckenridge has to offer. My home is your home to enjoy and to relax in.

What makes this house unique

The main benefits are the comfortable layout of the home and the quiet neighborhood. All with easy proximity to all Breckenridge has to offer, from theater to grocery to ski area shuttle. A bonus for some is that Harris St. is the premier street in Breckenridge to do a walking tour of classic homes listed on the National Historic Registry.

Guestbook comments from the owner

There are two bedrooms with closets and queen beds in the basement level however they do have windows to bring in natural light from outside and are insulated to provide a warmth that old fashioned basement areas generally don't offer. They also open to allow fresh air in and emergency exit if ever needed.

Clean, comfortable, excellent location!

  • 5 of 5

We stay in Breck for a week every year, and this rental was one of the most comfortable, cleanest, and best location places we've had. The house is split into two which takes some getting used to, but is great for privacy and when people need some space. I'd highly recommend for large groups looking for a place close to town!

Was a Great Place, Even in an Arctic Blast

  • 5 of 5

The weather was not to be controlled by anyone, and this was a great place to stay for 3 families (8 people) while it was very cold and snowy outside. The kids enjoyed playing in the snow out front and warming up in the hot tub out back. Each family had their private areas with comfortable beds. The shuttle to the ski area was literally around the corner. We did brave the cold on the hill, so it was nice to have such a nice place to relax at the end of the day. We loved the description of the back side of the house that a previous reviewer called "Narnia", as it is an unusual, but very workable, floor plan. Since we didn't have the foresight to make restaurant reservations in advance, we cooked in for most meals and the kitchen was well-set-up for the task. While we didn't need it, the kitchen in the back of the house is a full kitchen with a refrigerator should you need an overflow area. The supermarket is a walkable distance (even with a foot of fresh snow) with a shuttle stop should you not want to walk back with your groceries. We would come back, since we didn't get a chance to explore nearly enough of the mountain!

home from home near Main Street

  • 5 of 5

We rented this house primarily based on it's location as my sister and niece are sporadic skiers, and wanted access to the town. For the rest of us, the bonus was it's also walking distance (and on two bus routes) to the gondola or Peak 9, assuming you are not walking in ski boots (we snowboard so no problem). It's also spitting distance from a number of great restaurants, and two yoga studios that I tried out while I was there. There is indeed a grocery store and liquor store a couple of blocks away so convenience is an understatement.

As for the house, it was light, warm, comfortable and everything worked. Parking for two cars, a lockbox in case you forget your key, or have people coming and going on different schedules, and plenty of room to hang jackets, store hats, gloves, helmets in the cupboard. There's plastic matting as you come in for boots and anything damp, and although it's slightly odd to have that in the living/dining area, it didn't bother us, and if it really bothers you, you can come in the back entrance as the house is sort of two houses, and leave your gear in the back kitchen.

The only thing we weren't quite expecting was that two of the bedrooms are really in the basement, with no natural light. That won't bother most people, particularly if everyone is hanging out in the main part of the house until bedtime. It's useful having two lounge areas if some of your party are young or night owls, and others want to curl up and read then have an early night. It really works very well, and allows you to spread out quite a bit.

Michael, the owner, was extremely responsive to our initial questions about parking, where to stick our boards, how to operate something or other (I forget what, but nothing was an issue) and his local help were equally accessible and helpful. We got our deposit back within days and have to say this was one of the most enjoyable stays we've had. Highly recommended, and a reasonable cost for a good size house in an unbeatable location.

Perfect Location!!

  • 5 of 5

This was a perfect house for our family. The house had a perfect floor plan in accommodating a multiple family or families with children. We were able to walk everywhere we needed to go. Michael was a very gracious host in making sure our stay was comfortable. I would definitely stay here again and hope I get the opportunity! We only had 2 skiers in the group but the town offered something for everyone.

Fantastic Location

  • 5 of 5

Our group of 3 families rented this lovely home for spring break. It offers a perfect floor plan for several families. The location was fantastic. We walked to dinner and skiing every day. Michael was very responsive to any emails or questions we had. We will definitely rent again!
