About the property

1600 Sq Feet 3 Bdrm, 1 Bath, Full Kitchen With Washer/Dryer, Daylight Basement.

A stone walkway leads down from the parking area to a large covered patio with a private entrance to this very nice 3 bedroom 1 bath daylight 1600 sq. ft. walkout basement. The Vacation rental is the downstairs part of the house only. The main family room has 9 foot ceilings with beautifully finished wooden beams and lots of wood trim and wainscot. It has a full kitchen (newly remodeled) with an electric stove, microwave, frig, and washer and dryer. The 3 bedrooms all have comfortable queen beds and are decorated in mostly Montana style. The beautifully stained concrete floor is heated and very comfortable to walk on and there are area rugs in all the rooms. There is high speed internet, a 37 inch flat screen TV with a Wi Fi DVD player, and an older but usable pool table with a ping pong table cover. The back yard has a walkway that leads to a fire pit that overlooks the tree surrounded meadow below and sledding hill.

Our very private but convenient location is 4 miles south of Whitefish, 1/4 mile off Hwy 93, and about 9 miles north of Kalispell. This makes shopping or dining in Whitefish, Kalispell or Columbia Falls an easy option. Whitefish Mountain Resort (Big Mountain) is less than a 1/2 hour drive and Glacier National Park is about 40 minutes. The airport is only 10 minutes away.

About Steve and Lori Pleasants

Steve and Lori Pleasants moved to Montana in 1993 to raise their 3 boys and to open a chiropractic office in downtown Whitefish. We have always enjoyed a country lifestyle and had horses, cows, and chickens on the property while we homeschooled our boys. We built the basement to be a comfortable place for our boys, and the large family room became a gathering place for them, their 3 cousins and many friends.

Steve and Lori Pleasants purchased this house in 1998

Guestbook comments from the owner

"Thank you for making us feel at home in your lovely rental. We had everything here we could have wanted. we made many trips around the area while we were here, but we also had fun here playing ping pong and watching movies. We even finished a whole puzzle. Again many thanks. Popeye our dog thanks you too."

GORGEOUS 5 STAR ACCOMODATION IN STUNNING GROUNDS, A PERFECT HIDEAWAY LOCATION MINUTES FROM WHITEFISH

  • 5 of 5

We arrived on December 28th to find ourselves knee deep snow! perfect for hubby, I and our dog. The road down (aptly named Hideaway Trail) was stunning and you are greeted with the most beautiful ranch style house that opens up at the back onto 10 acres, partially wooded. We were in heaven. Steve had shovelled all the snow away from the terrace and path down to the lawn. Inside you are greeted with beautiful homely decor, incredibly spacious living accommodation (which houses a pool table that converts into table tennis), more than adequately stocked kitchen and three beautifully decorated bedrooms. The pictures on the adverts don't do it justice in my opinion. Outside on the terrace there is a BBQ, patio heater and several patio sets for large groups to enjoy. The grounds have a fire pit also which regrettably was covered in snow (far too deep to dig out). Fantastic for summer evenings.

We enjoyed 5 night 4 days here over New Year and can guarantee you will not be disappointed at The Pleasant's house. Despite them living upstairs you would know, they let us enjoy our time alone and we certainly did that!

During our time we skied on Big Mountain with friends, skidoo half day and declined another ski day to stay home and enjoy the beautiful house and surroundings.

The visitor book in the living room is full of incredibly positive comments from a host of people all over Canada and the USA that have similarly enjoyed their stay at The Pleasant's. We can't thank Steve and Lori enough for having us.

You will not be disappointed here at The Hideaway Trail.

Perfect home away from home!

  • 5 of 5

This home was absolutely beautiful and it had everything we needed for our 2 night stay (I wish we could have stayed longer!). It was very spacious, comfortable, clean and the decor was very nice. The grounds and landscaping is stunning with a large fire pit. It was a very peaceful and quiet and felt very private but it was close to many conveniences that you would need. We met Steve and Lori when we first arrived and they were so wonderful and accommodating. We highly recommend this home and would definitely stay here again!

Charming, comfortable space

  • 5 of 5

This is the second time we've stayed at the property. A group of us compete at a horse show at Majestic Valley Arena every year, and discovered Steve & Lori's place last year. Now it feels like a home away from home.

Steve & Lori are fantastic hosts. The space is very cozy and comfortable, and stocked with everything you need. We love that we can bring our dogs, and there's lots of room for them to run. The concrete floors are beautifully done and are shockingly warm. The decor is pure Montana - cute, quaint, and rustic.

The only downside of the property is access - due to the placement of the meridian on the highway, some creative U-turns are necessary.

Last year we hosted a BBQ for nearly 20 of our fellow horse show competitors. We gave Steve & Lori a heads up because they live above the space (totally separate entrance - this is a developed walk-out basement suite). They were very accommodating and we had a great evening on the lawn and the subsequent intense ping pong tournament.

If you're competing at Majestic Valley, skip the hotel (and the commute) and stay here. It's the closest accommodation to the arena and is demonstrably better than cramming four people into a hotel room.

Steve & Lori, thanks for another great stay. We'll see you next year :)

Beautiful and quiet setting!

  • 5 of 5

Great accommodations! From all the essentials in the kitchen, to comfortable and tasteful decor, to the pool/pin pong table, and an outdoor bbq and fire-pit! It's a great location for checking out Kalispell, Whitefish, or a quick jump to Glacier! Steve and Lori were wonderful and highly recommend. We look forward to staying here again in the future!

Beautiful home and great location!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in this great home for three days for our first trip to Montana and Glacier National Park. It was the perfect location, about 30 minutes to the park, and we had everything we could possibly need! The house was beautifully decorated and comfortable. The Pleasants were very helpful in giving us ideas and directions to make our first trip a great experience. I hope to visit this beautiful area again one day and will definitely stay here! Thank you for everything 😇򑰠Dana

Whitefish is a year around resort community primarily known for its local ski resort Whitefish Mountain Resort, known by locals as Big Mountain. It provides great uncrowded skiing in the winter as well as many summer activities such as hiking and zip lines. There are also many other winter activities available such as snowmobiling, snow shoeing, cross country skiing, ice skating, and dog sled riding.

Our close proximity to Glacier National Park is by far the biggest summer time attraction to our area. It provides spectacular mountain scenery as well as wildlife viewing, hiking, backpacking, fishing, rafting, and swimming, you name it.

Whitefish Lake has a great local beach for swimming and sun bathing and is a popular recreational boating lake. Many other lakes, rivers and streams provide boating rafting and fishing opportunities that are endless.

The town of Whitefish is a popular destination for many reasons. Our family friendly atmosphere has a wide variety of dining including many excellent restaurants. The small resort town atmosphere also provides an active night life with several bars, casinos and nightclubs. Shopping is also popular with many clothing stores, galleries, sporting goods, and jewelry stores. Whitefish Lake Golf course provides 36 holes of top notch golfing and The Wave Aquatic Center provides indoor swimming and water slide for the kids when the weather is not so great. It also has a large fitness area and all the amenities of a modern fitness club.

Other activities in town include a twin cinema as well as two live theatres.

In addition to all the outdoor activities, the surrounding area has many attractions for kids and adults, including a water slide park, live bear park, house of mystery, and an outdoor maze and activity center, and many whitewater rafting and horseback riding facilities'.
