Not exactly luxury

  • 3 of 5

This was my fifth "luxury" rental at SML and easily the most disappointing. The house has potential but it lacks maintenance and attention to detail. The exterior of the home was covered in spider webs and was really dirty when we arrived. The decks were stained and the furniture was unsightly. The cleaning crew quickly came and did their best to clean it but that only works so well when the exterior spaces had apparently been ignored for too long. This home is at the end of a steep driveway and had no way to turn around the jet skis we were towing -- except back up a steep grade for about 1/4 mile on loose rock. When we arrived, the downstairs bathroom had a hole in the wall about a foot square with exposed piping and insulation. The door to the back porch had a broken latch and one of the window latches was clearly broken. The hood over the nice range had four lights -- three of which were burnt out. The drain in the master bath tub was broken. A maintenance guy came by on the second day of our visit and fixed what he could. The lights were never fixed. The only "yard" on the property is what you see in the pictures -- about the size of a tennis court and not a flat spot on it. And, the house is really loud. If the TV is on downstairs there is no way anyone can sleep upstairs.

On a positive note, the dock and swim area were great. The dock has a nice bar with a grill inside. This was open and available to us. We really enjoyed that.

When we complained to the property manager we were offered our money back -- that is no real solution when my family had met there from a number of different locations. I never asked for any money. I just wanted the owner and property manager to know that I felt the advertising was very misleading and frankly very disappointing. That is the same reason for this review. Luxury? Not close.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your comments, we do like to hear feedback This home by the middle of the season becomes a bit worn on the outside due to pollen. No home can be scrubbed in 4 hours between turns. Also there is no rock in the driveway- it is a ground permi driveway, not asphalt but not rock.. There is no steepness in this driveway - it is flat- maybe you are thinking about a different home - the front of the home is pictured and accurate. You are the first person in 3 years to have any problems turning anything around - there is a large grass area to the left that we do mark for turnarounds and leaving the trailers. People love this area since it is so easy to pull in and then back out again. There is not much lawn, as we disclosed even before booking- but your emails said that was not important. The previous tenant had opened the wall, again we had maintenance out immediately on that monday am - we are sorry the previous tenant left the home in a bit of shambles. We and the cleaners do their best to get all repairs done in 4 hours and cleaning that previous families may have produced. This home is very nice, brand new beds and gourmet kitchen you will not find a kitchen like this anywhere else on the lake for a rental. Yes if you leave the solid wood doors open upstairs and you have the tv on 43 or more for volume you will hear the TV, as in any home with high ceilings. However you may want to turn it down to 24 - or less- you can still hear the TV fine in the living room and close the solid wood doors. These are all brand new tv's as well. We do thank you for staying.

Lakehouse Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We've enjoyed this home both during peak season with our families (multiple families, with children of all ages), as well as off-season for a couples getaway. The floor plan is unique in that is offers an open plan, perfect for entertaining large groups and still has abundant bedrooms and bathrooms, offering privacy when needed.

The house was immaculate when we arrived and had all the amenities we could want! Large windows with beautiful views of the lake welcomed us each morning. We enjoyed our coffee each morning outside on the deck off of the large family room overlooking the dock.

We will definitely rent this property again for our next trip to the lake! The pictures don't do it justice...the home was beautiful with easy access to the outdoor amenities and safe for our children. We fell in love with the lake after renting this house!

Wonderful House, Great Location

  • 5 of 5

I had the best experience renting this home. First, the owners we so nice throughout the rental process and made it very easy to accomplish our dream vacation.

Upon arriving in this house it was in pristine condition! The room that my husband and I stayed in had great storage, and wonderful furniture. Our room was in the basement with a great walk out and wonderful, large, hall bathroom that we shared. Plenty of room and privacy for all. We loved it down there cause we could walk right out the door and right down to the lake. From all rooms of the house lake accessibility is super easy!

THE KITCHEN! Amazing appliances, wine fridge,(with bonus fridge in the basement) with great flow so multiple people can be helping meals get prepared! The main level opens up to a nice deck with gorgeous views:)

My favorite feature of the house is the cove location and the dock. THE DOCK! Wow- it has a bar that opens up with yes, another fridge:) This was great to keep kids snacks in, lunches, beverages without having to go back to the house and get them. So the dock has great space, chairs near the bar and a large location for chaise to tan or regular chairs as well. We spent a lot of our time on the dock so it was great to have so much room. There are two boat slips and three additional places to tie up. The cove is great- plenty of privacy and minutes from the main channel. Neighbors were great as well!

This lovely home is conveniently located not to far from the local store. So we were able to run out when we needed to grab something.

Overall - perfect lake house for girls weekend, family gathering, or relaxing vacation.

Owner's Response: Thank you for staying with us.. This owner has thought of everything... These owners are constantly adding new items, upgrading and more.. The home is truly impressive , and we are proud to represent them. The home is very close, to everything, a mile from the vineyards. This home also offers a boat rental company that will drop off and pick up the boat at the home- we are not sure if you had the opportunity to book with this company- they only work for select clients. We do thank you for staying and look forward to seeing you again soon.
