Proximity to Metro! The area may lack charm, a distinct personality and trendy spots but that 2 minute walk to the Benning Metro Station overshadows any lack of aesthetics!

The three of us thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Wayne''s apartment. We were delighted to find that there was dinner waiting for us when we arrived after a long day of travel. Wayne also stocked the refrigerator and cabinets so that we had coffee and breakfast foods. The apartment is very near to the Benning Rd. Metro Station making it easy to go anywhere in DC. Wayne has thought of every you might need - cooking pans and utensils, dishes, glassware, towels, toiletries, even an umbrella. This is the best HomeAway rental ever. Thanks Wayne!
Wayne is the most gracious host! Upon arrival he had warm chicken for us to eat and asked if we would like Rum Punches. The apartment has everything you'd need for a stay including washer and dryer, toiletries and comfortable beds. Bathroom and kitchen are fine. He stocked the fridge with basic foods, which was enough for us in the mornings before we headed out to sight see. He is a wealth of knowledge of the area and gave recommendations to where to eat and what to see. He has a working folder of recommendations, and a bookshelf of literature on DC and the area. He provided a parking pass for across the street so we had a free place to park near DC. One of the best features is he is one block from the Metro. Easy to find and get on/off directly to the National Mall. He even provided four metro passes for us so we didn't have hassle with buying the cards. (we did have to load money on them). The apartment is secure and we felt safe. We were there four nights with two kids and had no problems. Thank you Wayne.
This apartment was perfect for us and Wayne is an over the top exceptional host. He met us when we arrived at the apartment and answered all of our questions. The location was convenient to the Metro which we used extensively. No need to rent a car. We will definitely book again when we come back with family.
Wayne was so helpful in every aspect of our trip to DC. Our flight was delayed 3 times so we were much later than expected, but Wayne was still there to greet us and directed us on the best ways to use the rails. The beds are comfortable, and everything worked great. It was a perfect place to come back to after a long day seeing the sites. It's a short walk away from the Metro, and the Metro was simple and easy to navigate and we had no issues. The place has tons of books and brochures to look up things to do in DC along with some food items to get us through the mornings. We will have to come back!
Wayne's DC apt. was very comfortable and homey. Wayne's thoughtfulness in providing anything one might need (even Epsom salts for weary feet), was over the top. This was our first VRBO stay and we were a little hesitant. DC can be very intimidating to those not familiar with mass transit. Wayne was so gracious to provide directions, advice and even walked us to the Metro (a short 2 blocks) to help us load a Smart-trip card he provided and also to the bus stop (a block away) to make sure we got on the right bus. Wayne's property is so central to everything in DC we wanted to see. But, the best part of staying in his rental is really Wayne. A very generous, and helpful guy. He truly is the best part of staying in his apt.
We stayed a whole month in this apartment so we would have plenty of time to see all the sites in the Washington DC. We flew to the Ronald Reagan Airport and got on the Blue Line which went right to the metro stop one block from the apartment. Wayne was so nice to meet us right at the metro stop and help us with our bags and show us to the apartment. Everything was in good order and beyond expectations with fruit, roast chicken and plenty of breakfast supplies which he replenished several times. For those who have commented on the wash machine, there is now a beautiful new front loading washer and dryer in the apartment. Wayne was a wealth of information and even researched routes and times for some of the things we wanted to see. We never once felt unsafe in the neighborhood and found those that lived in the area to be warm and friendly. This is one of the best vacations we have ever had and Wayne certainly added so much to that great experience. Now if he would just come to Phoenix so we could show him around our city!
We were so impressed with everything that Wayne provided. It's a smallish apartment but very tidy and it has everything. The neighborhood is not high end, but people were friendly and we never felt unsafe. The metro is indeed a short half-block walk away. Wayne is extremely knowledgeable about the area and transit information. And, he makes a great rum punch! Totally worth it to stay here if you are into saving money and don't need a 5-star hotel.
Note: if you come in summer bring bug spray to DC. We got bit a lot when we were in Georgetown.
Denny's Restaurant and a 7 11 convenience store are near to the apt plus a well stocked liquor shop in a not too great location. There is a great variety of restaurants and bars available in the trendy Capitol Hill/Barracks Row Area at the Eastern Market Metro, an 8 min trip away!
