Why Wayne Toy Him chose District of Columbia (Washington DC)

Proximity to Metro! The area (not DC nicest) may lack charm, a distinct personality and trendy spots but that 2 minute walk to the Benning Metro Station overshadows any lack of aesthetics!

Estimated time by Metro from the Apt to the following destinations:

Destinations are all on the Blue and Silver lines, no transferring required!

6 minutes to Eastern Market: Restaurant District of Capitol Hill and Barrack Row.

8 minutes to Capitol South: the Library of Congress, the Capitol Building and the Supreme Court.

14 Minutes to the Smithsonian Station: Freer Museum, Shackler Gallery & the Smithsonian Castle

18 minutes to Farragut West: the White House, the Renwick Gallery & DAR Constitution Hall and Museum.

Guestbook comments from the owner

The three of us thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Wayne''s apartment. We were delighted to find that there was dinner waiting for us when we arrived after a long day of travel. Wayne also stocked the refrigerator and cabinets so that we had coffee and breakfast foods. The apartment is very near to the Benning Rd. Metro Station making it easy to go anywhere in DC. Wayne has thought of every you might need - cooking pans and utensils, dishes, glassware, towels, toiletries, even an umbrella. This is the best HomeAway rental ever. Thanks Wayne!

Amazing trip!

  • 5 of 5

Wayne is an amazing host! When we arrived, he was waiting for us and provided all information we needed. He even got us some fried chicken and had the essentials(eggs, toast, milk, bread, etc.) in the fridge! He had metro cards ready for us and gave us instructions on how to load them. The apartment was everything we needed! It has a nice living room area with chairs and a couch/futon if you need it. The beds are extremely comfortable! The back patio has a nice area with a garden. The second day we had questions on where a store would be and all we to do is knock and Wayne was there to help. We used the Subway everyday to get where we needed to go and it was just a short walk. This is an amazing location if you don't want to drive and deal with traffic! I would recommend Wayne and his apartment to anyone! If I could give it more stars, I would! Thanks for everything Wayne! You made our stay very enjoyable!

Worked for us!

  • 5 of 5

As a family of five, this apartment worked well for us. It is economical, and Wayne is an awesome host who greets you at the train station, surprises you with goodies and is quick to meet your needs. You will see other comments about the area which we had zero issues with. All the neighbors said hello, the apartment is secure. We patronized the local Denny's, wing place, liquor store and local grocery store for a few supplies we needed. I would not venture around too late after it gets dark but since the train station is so close, even if you come back a little late, as we did, it's just a quick walk and you are home. On another note, we ate at We the Pizza and Teds Bulletin and love them both. Teds is great for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The staff is great, the food was amazing and the local IPA and bar drinks were on point. Our trip was a lifetime experience and if we have the chance to return we would not hesitate to stay at Wayne's place.

Cozy Apartment With Easy Access to the Metro and All the DC Sights

  • 5 of 5

We arrived very late on our first night and the host had prepared a rotisserie chicken with a delicious homemade sauce. He also had salad and fresh fruit waiting. This delicious meal after our long journey was very kind and greatly appreciated. The apartment has 2 bedrooms and 1 bath with a fully furnished kitchen. He has a brand new grill in the back yard that came in very hand this week. The apartment has hardwood throughout. Both beds are extremely comfortable and made for a good nights sleep after each day's adventures. The host had Metro passes ready to go and actually walked me to the nearby Metro station the first day to show me how to use the Metro(the Metro station is approximately 200 yards from the apartment). He also gave me instructions on finding the closest grocery store and asked if I needed anything else. I haven't needed to use my car since my arrival. In addition to the Metro passes, our host has provided umbrellas and coolers for packing picnic lunches. The apartment is furnished with a full washer and dryer for our use as well. In the end, this charming, well-furnished apartment was the perfect place to stay on our adventure to Washington, DC. Thank you to our generous and kind host!

Amazing time

  • 5 of 5

Wayne was great ! He helped us put money on the metro cards which he supplies. He was very helpful about all the sights to see. His place is very convenient to picking up the metro, only two blocks away! He has everything you will need for your stay! There was plenty of breakfast items and he even fixed us a snack our first night before we ordered dinner. Everything is labeled. and it was easy to get a hold of him. We would definitely stay again. This is a perfect place for a family or for a group of friends!

Great place, close to metro!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at Wayne's was great. The rooms are cozy, the place is a 3 minute walk to the metro, and Wayne is a superb host. He has reading material on D.C., metro cards for you to reload and use, and a lot of suggestions for how to get around and see the city. He also has board games, snacks and food in the fridge, toiletries and first aid items in the restroom, an iron + ironing board, etc. You name it, Wayne's got it! Although this place is not in downtown D.C., it is well worth the stay!

*In case you wonder about the art when you are there- they are all Wayne originals! A truly talented artist.

Served our purpose.

  • 3 of 5

While the apartment is old, in an old neighborhood, it was clean and the owner went out of his way to make it a great stay. It's not "up-scaled" but it did serve our purpose. Because of the location, however, you will not want to be out after dark or be alone on the street. Wayne, the owner, lives in an apartment just above this property so if you need something, he can address the issue quickly. The Metro is very close which is a plus but a car is best if you wish to shop at a large, fully-stocked, grocery store or go to a nice restaurant. We also used a car to see Washington's home and the Air-Space Museum at Dulles. The Metro was great getting us back and forth to the "Mall" and all the buildings and memorials there, and to the Arlington Memorial in VA.
