About the property

3 Bedrooms, 3 Bathrooms, sleeps 11

10.5 acre property sits 40 ft above the beautiful and wild Llano River.

Our getaway, featured in November 2016 issue of Better Homes & Gardens, sits in the middle of a 12 mile remote stretch of the Llano River. It offers an ideal location for group gatherings in a light filled and spacious home. You can enjoy unique views and access to the river where you can swim,, fly fish, bird watch or simply sit under the 300-year-old oak tree and take it all in.

The three bedroom home offers sleeping for eleven, with a master bedroom, bunk room, and guest room.

-the master bedroom has a queen bed, amazing floor to ceiling windows, outdoor access and ensuite bathroom.

-the bunk room has two double beds, and two twin beds outfitted in handmade blankets from india.

-the guest room has one queen and twin bed, soft white linens and one-of-a-kind Bolivian blankets.

-there are two full guest bathrooms. Both include unique design elements that speak to the natural landscape.

The open floor plan with two story vaulted ceilings and walls of sliding doors allows you to experience the outdoors while in.

-the living area includes old barn wood floors, a local mason stone fire place, game nook, and comfortable lounge seating.

-the dining area features collected vintage pieces from all over Texas with a custom designed chandelier. It seats 12 and is perfect for dinners and lingering conversations.

-the kitchen is fully equipped with a gas range and oven, microwave, kitchen aid mixer, Cuisinart, and plenty of beautiful concrete counter tops. The vintage butcher block island is a spacious place to gather for cocktails and cooking. You won't be in need of plates, pots, or glass wear while enjoying your dining experience.

One of the best features of the Llano River home is the outdoor living spaces. You can always find a good place to sit and enjoy the landscape.

-the screened in porch has comfortable lounge seating where you experience Hill Country breezes.

-the expansive back porch overlooking the bend in the river includes rocking chairs, Carlos Ocho lounge chairs, and a 10 person dining table. There is no better place to drink your coffee in the morning.

And the river! It's so great for swimming, sitting in the cool water & talking, & kayaking. The fishing is great too; lots of large mouth bass, Guadalupe bass, bluegill & catfish.

It's great in the fall or winter for watching birds & wildlife, taking long walks & relaxing in front of the fireplace. There are so many nooks where you can sit down, enjoy a beautiful view & read a good book.

About Bruce Lowe

Native Texans. Martha grew up in Austin & is a graduate of the University of Texas. Bruce grew up in Houston & graduated from Texas A&M. We moved to Austin in 2014. We have two adult children (an interior designer & a musician) who both live in Austin. We love living in the middle of Austin & getting away to our wonderful place in the Hill Country.

Bruce Lowe purchased this house in 2010

Why Bruce Lowe chose Art

We wanted to find a place to get away from things, have family/friend fun in a secluded & beautiful location. Martha grew up in the Hill Country and we have family there and have always had an attraction to it. We love water and began looking at properties along several Hill Country rivers. We looked at numerous properties with nothing grabbing our hearts. Then, boom, we found this place. Martha & I knew it when we first saw it. This was a family decision so our kids visited the place a couple of days later. As they stood under the old oak tree they texted us, 'this is it'. One of the best decisions we've ever made!

What makes this house unique

We were sold on this place as soon as we stood under the giant old oak tree, looking down upon the gorgeous river curving through pristine Hill Country land. We've loved it ever since and grow more enchanted with it each time we gather there.

We had a wonderful weekend! The house is beautiful and very well stocked. Sitting under the huge oak tree and hearing the river run was the perfect touch of nature. Very peaceful. We would recommend it to anyone who needs to relax.

Second year back and just as charming!

  • 5 of 5

We have booked this house two years in a row as it is immaculate, comfortable, and provides a peaceful getaway! The interior design is beautiful and Bruce is always welcoming and quick with communication. Our group enjoyed family dinners on the porch and early morning coffee by the river. This house is a must stay!

Great property! Good place to hang out and just relax with family, or friends.

  • 5 of 5

Spent the weekend with family celebrating my father’s 80th birthday. Since we had planned a family golf tournament as part of the weekend festivities, we didn’t get to spend much time at the river — but wished we had. Llano is not far, and there’s fun things to do in the area. Size of the house and property is great. Very secluded with great views. Since there are multiple beds in all bedrooms, except the master, larger groups will have to share bedrooms.

The house is really nice. We loved the design and decor. There’s plenty of room to spread out, and lots of spots to break away. The kitchen area has the space to accommodate a large family, and its easy to cook and visit.

Would like to go back sometime.

Beautiful Home + Helpful Owner

  • 5 of 5

We had a WONDERFUL stay! The house is well-designed and beautifully decorated. We used the large, modern kitchen to cook every meal, and often ate outside to enjoy the views of the Llano river. The sleeping arrangements were great for our larger group.

When we were packing up, we realized that one of our car batteries had died. We called the owner, Bruce, and he was kind enough to have someone over in less than 10 minutes to help get the car started. Such great customer service!

I highly recommend this hill country river home!

Well equipped stocked kitchen; able to cook. Plenty of Hill Country nature books to read and use. Three lovely bathrooms. Loved it!!
