About Lisa

We have been visiting the Black Hills for years, originally from Wisconsin, and really fell in love with the area. Five years ago we moved to Custer, a small community to raise our family.

Lisa purchased this house in 2011

Why Lisa chose Black Hills

We loved this home the minute we stepped into it. We knew it would be a huge job to renovate it, but we were up for the challenge. I fell in love with the hard wood floors and rustic feel.

What makes this house unique

This home is located in a beautiful valley surrounded by rock formations and trees. Perfect!

lovely cabin

  • 4 of 5

The cabin was great with lots of wildlife visiting daily. I did miss the part where there was no air conditioning and the first night was hot but otherwise the weather cooperated nicely. We found two fans but a few more would help. The basement was cooler and helped! My daughter found the BINGO game and we had several rounds of BINGO every night. Furnished nicely with all the necessities!

Wonderful location. Able to get so many places in a timely manner from here.

  • 5 of 5

Very good accommodations for our family. Nice to have so many windows for all the fresh air. Fun watching the deer. Thanks for the bingo. Family loved it. Someone else stuffed their garbage in the receptacle when we were out for the day, so we had to leave ours on the ground.

South Dakota trip

  • 5 of 5

My family and I made our summer vacation a trip to South Dakota? It was our granddaughters first trip there. We had a wonderful time and loved the house. The location was perfect for siteseeing and it was great to be so close to nature. Thur house had everything we needed. Loved staying in a log cbin. The owners stopped by and made sure we had everything we needed.

Awesome trip

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 6 stayed here for a week while visiting the Black Hills and had a wonderful time. The house fit our group perfectly and had all the comforts of home necessary. While there is no AC which is new to us Okies, the lower level is very cool and the upper level stays nice and breezy with the windows open. We loved the deck and the yard and did spend most of our time outside. We had 5 full days and stayed very busy often leaving early and coming in late so we didn't have just lots of free time at the house. We would 100% recommend this house to everyone.

Clean and great location, but beds need to be upgraded.

  • 3 of 5

Overall it was a good place to stay, centrally located and easy to get to everything. We were very disappointed in the quality of the bed mattresses. Each one sagged and bowed in the middle. I would suggest getting at least one higher quality mattress so that guests can sleep better. A couple of the windows wouldn't open, they looked sealed shut and the downstairs queen bedroom didn't have a screen so we couldn't open those windows, which was unfortunate since the cabin doesn't have AC so opening the windows at night was the only way to cool it off for the next day! The dining area only sat 5, so that was also a little difficult as we filled the occupancy of the cabin and so we always had 3 who didn't have a place to sit as we ate together as a family. And we would also suggest making a fire pit so that guests can enjoy s'mores and time around a fire. We also come from a forested state and completely understand fire danger especially in the summer, however, building a small fire pit for guests to gather in a controlled environment would greatly enhance the stay at this cabin! There is even a hose right there closeby in the yard so the fire danger would be extremely low. Other than those things, the cabin was great. Easy access to the cabin itself, quiet neighbors, and located in easy proximity to all of the sites. We had a great time visiting Custer and the Black Hills!

Nice Property

  • 4 of 5

The home was very nice. The area and views around the cabin were quite nice. The wildlife (deer and turkeys) visited us nearly every day. The interactions with the homeowner were pleasant and everything was as advertised.
