About Elizabeth Linn

This cabin is a family owned cabin. We have enjoyed this lake for over 20 years and want to share our love for the cabin and the lake with you!

Elizabeth Linn purchased this cabin in 1986

Why Elizabeth Linn chose Higgins Lake

The cabin has been passed through family generations serving as a meeting place for our large family. We enjoy the quiet neighborhood, the sunsets and boating on the lake. The large lot and open floor plan accommodates large groups comfortably. Enjoy our 125 feet of beautiful shoreline, private dock and a 14 foot by 14 foot sandy beach area next to the waters edge.

What makes this cabin unique

We love the views of the lake from the cabin and especially the nightly bursting sunsets. The turquoise blue, crystal clear water of the lake is always inviting.

Nice, quiet getaway on a crystal clear lake

  • 5 of 5

Spacious cottage with plenty of living space on first floor, quiet bedrooms on second. Higgins Lake is spectacularly clear with a gently sloping shore line great for the kids (and adults) to swim and snorkel. Kitchen was well equipped for all meals although we BBQ'd often on the outdoor kettle grill. [Not of lot of dining places in that area.] Popular destination early in the morning is to get donuts at a small shop on the main drag before turning into the lake access road. [That was someone's duty to ride their bike to get donuts.] Little road traffic so biking was a favorite pastime when not on the lake. Brought our own kayaks and used a provided paddle boat when swimming offshore. Region is very sandy so the second bathroom access and outdoor shower head was handy. Someone down the road installed a "book box" to exchange paperbacks that we enjoyed. Screened porch was where we spent most evening time. TV available but we never turned it on. Fishing on the lake not too great (too clear, little food probably) but adjacent streams good for fly fishing. Try the outlet connector to the small lake at the south end of Higgins. Bring your groceries with you.

Fun, homey, great character,

  • 4 of 5

My family had an awesome time at Higgins Lake. The cabin was homey and stayed cool during the day. Everyone was able to sleep comfortably. Kitchen was stashed with cooking utensils. The kids had a great time in the water! The water was clean and shallow. We enjoyed our stay at Leap In Retreat!

Great Lake house!

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our week at the Leap In Retreat. The yard and lakefront are fabulous. The house is spacious and we never felt crowded. The kitchen had more dishes and appliances than needed. The bedroom curtains kept the bedrooms dark in the mornings, so when we kept them closed, we slept in later than usual...leaving us well rested! Thank you for providing a great location for our family vacation.

Great time for all ages

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here in August and everyone had a great time! Plenty of room in the cottage and was also on a large lot. Lots of room for the little ones to run around and a nice sandy beach area for sand castles. Kitchen was stocked with pots, pans and pretty much everything for a home cooked meal. Great time was had by all, thank you!!

Great Stay!

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a wonderful time at the Leap in Retreat cottage on Higgins Lake. It was like having our own private lodge! The pictures on the web page do not tell how nice it really is. Great layout - The gathering spaces for dining and relaxing are large. The kitchen was also large and had plenty of work space and a counter to sit at. There was also a pantry room for storing food, etc. All of the appliances seemed new, plenty of dishes and silverware, a big refrigerator and the owners even provided a tool box and spare light bulbs. My bed was very comfortable and there was plenty of hot water for showers and dishes. The owners created a nice sandy play area at the waters edge for children to play in and the water was very clean and shallow. The fire pit was a nice feature that we used almost every night. I would also recommend bringing your bikes as the streets in the area are paved and there are lots of areas around the lake to explore. I highly recommend this property as once you stay here you will be spoiled! We hope to stay here again!!!

Map

Car: necessary

The Higgins Lake area is not heavily developed commercially. Enjoying the lake from sunrise to sunset is our favorite activity. Houghton Lake is approximately 10 miles south which offers additional shopping, movie theater, putt putt golf and go cart track.
