Hale Kapi'olani was just featured in Coastal Living Magazine's December 2017 issue as one of the "12 Best Vacation Rentals in Hawaii". We are very proud of this prestigious honor by one of the best magazines in the world!
Hale Kapi'olani is the perfect place for a family or large group and it is very kid friendly with its 2 separate master bedrooms, 2 additional bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms. Two of the bedrooms upstairs have beautiful waterfall views and the two master bedrooms share a large lanai.
We have just installed a new outdoor playset in the home's private backyard! Your kids will love it!
We also recently made significant upgrades to the house such as replacing all flooring with brand new flooring, installing ceiling fans and recessed lighting, and installing a new high end washer and dryer. The house is fully furnished beautifully and beachy and we have made it as comfortable and welcoming as we can. The kitchen is spacious and is fully-stocked. There is a large game room with a brand new ping pong table, foosball table and other games for the kids and adults. There are two outdoor spaces with eating areas and a BBQ, and lots of grass for the kids to run around. We have gear for you to take to the beach (towels, chairs, boogie boards, cooler and snorkel equipment). Additionally, our goal is to make this house as kid friendly as possible, as we know how many items parents must drag along when traveling with small children. We have a new pack-n-play, a high chair, Radio Flyer wagon, a stroller, and kids toys and books.
The location is a prime spot in Princeville, just a short five minute walk away to the entrance of Queen's Bath, about a 10 minute walk to the St. Regis Hotel, and a short drive to the world famous beaches of the North Shore. Come stay with us and be one of our first guests!

About Tammy Olson
The Olsons live in Kauai, with their two young boys. A love for adventure and travel led to purchasing this vacation home on this gorgeous island in 2014. This listing is new and we are determined to meet and exceed all of our guests expectations! As an avid surfer, Mike loves the warm water that the island offers and of course the spectacular waves on the North Shore. Princeville offers lush greenery and spacious outdoor areas for their two young boys to run wild. Mike and Tammy were married in Fiji, honeymooned in South Africa and now love calling Kauai their home.

Why Tammy Olson chose Princeville
We fell in love with this house upon first glance. With young children, the spaciousness (3,200 square feet) is what initially drew us to the property. We wanted to visit our second home and not feel cramped as we had when we stayed in hotels or small condos. This property allows us to spread out with 4 bedrooms (2 master bedrooms) and 3.5 baths. The great room gives our children ample space to play during a rainy afternoon on the island and the large yard gives them grassy space to run and play outside. Two of the bedrooms upstairs have beautiful waterfall views and the two master bedrooms share a large lanai. Additionally, the house is just steps away from Queens Bath, one of the most beautiful spots on the North Shore where you may see honu (turtles) swimming. It is also about a 10 minute walk from the beautiful St. Regis hotel where you can enjoy stunning sunsets overlooking Hanalei Bay, a gorgeous meal, or cocktails on the patio.
What makes this House unique
This amazing house is just a short 5 minute walk to the Queens Bath entrance, a natural clear water pool separated from the ocean by a lava shelf. It is a must see for many tourists. It is also the closest neighborhood to the stunning St. Regis Hotel in Princeville, where you can take a short walk and enjoy sunset cocktails overlooking gorgeous Hanalei Bay.

Perfect for us!
We loved this house! We celebrated New Years here and joined in on the fireworks with all of the friendly neighbors. The house was quiet and had everything we needed. We had several teenagers that played ping pong non-stop. We used the garage and hoses to clean off all of our camping gear and dry it out in the garage. The floor plan is awesome and the location is great too! Would highly recommend!
Great House for a Family vacation
We would highly recommend this property as being ideal for a family vacation. The owner Tammy was very nice and helpful from the moment we made our reservation back in February in England where we live. When we arrived we found the property just as we wished it to be with a welcome tray of goodies on the table. The house itself is very well kept with spacious accommodation everywhere. The kitchen is well stocked with appliances and a nice touch being that basic food items are available in the cupboard left by previous holidaymakers. We added to the stocks when we left. The separate utility room has a good quality washing machine and separate dryer which was ideal for cleaning beach gear. The garage houses the clothes line and various chairs, ice box, bicycles and children’s beach equipment together with a barbecue. The area is very well kept with a local golf course, shopping in Princeville 5 minutes by car includes Foodland for groceries and various othe shops and restaurants. Hanelaii is 15 minutes by car again with shops and restaurants. Try the kayaking down the river very relaxing and you will see turtles basking on the bankside. Go to any of the local beaches try snorkelling in the clear water and soon you will see abundant fish. There is plenty to occupy both young and old locally and this house really fits the bill as an ideal base for a family vacation. You will not find anywhere any better.
Beautiful spacious open concept home in Princeville
Our stay was wonderful. Tammy and Mike did everything they could to make us feel at home, from stocking the kitchen with essentials before we came to helping out with surf tips and locating the good kids beach spots. The house is fully equipped for a short or extended stay. We were a party of 10 ranging in age from 7-93 and the place could not have been more perfect and Tammy and Mike could not have been more accommodating to fit our wide variety of needs. The central games room with ping pong table and fooseball was a nightly hit, there are bicycles to ride to your favourite surf spot. The beach towels were large and great quality and there was a plethora of beach toys, bamboo mats, snorkels, flippers and other beach paraphernalia to keep any family happy. We happily cooked many dinners on the BBQ, and the kitchen was very well equipped with a blender, toaster, coffee maker and grinder, micro convection oven, lots of baking dishes and even a hand held immersion blender. There is a nice dishwasher to make cleaning up after a big group a breeze. There are enough bathrooms to accommodate everyone- so no one need wait! The location of the house is perfect, literally a 1 minute walk down the street to the trail head for Queens Bath (but don't be fooled, not for bathing as the warning signs clearly indicate- gorgeous for ocean views and seeing whales and sea turtles, which we saw every morning, not for swimming!). It is a 5 minute car trip or 10 minute bike trip to the Princeville mall which has a great little selection of stores including Foodland (which has a good selection of food, alcohol, and essentials) and Lapperts Ice Cream Shoppe (seriously indulge yourself in a hand dipped waffle cone with macadamia nut coconut cream pie ice cream- heaven). The town of Kilauea is only a 10 minute drive away and has a lot more things to offer including a health food store and a fish market and lots of pretty shops. The Kilauea Lighthouse and Bird Sanctuary are a fun and stunning activity to do with a group of varying ages and physical abilities (they will drive seniors down the trail to the Lighthouse in a personal golf cart!). As well, the beaches near Princeville are some of the least crowded and most beautiful on the island. I cannot say enough great things about this house, its location, design, and the lovely family who runs it. If you are looking for the perfect family getaway spot to call home- this is it!
We were thrilled with our two weeks in this Princeville home and felt very AT home there. With 7 adults and two children in our group, there was space that accommodated us being all together; dining room, games room, front room, but also enough space in and around the house that someone seeking solitude they could find it in their room, on the lanai, or out in the park-like yard surrounded by a living wall of Hawaii's varied vegetation. Each bedroom has generous closet space and room to move. The bath towels, bedding and decor are all very new and clean. There were a couple nights when we would have liked extra blankets. It was not a huge issue, but an extra throw at the foot of the bed would have been welcome. The showers were excellent and even with 9 of us cleaning off after a day at the beach the hot water seemed to last. The kitchen was very easy to work in. I would suggest that when you move in do not be shy about looking in every unlocked cupboard and drawer as most cooking and cleaning items you need are there somewhere. Minor issues, the knives are all terribly dull.
We made good use of the beach equipment. The towels are thick and a great size, the chairs, cooler, mats, were awesome. The other items listed, boogie boards, snorkel equipment, umbrellas, are quite used. We ended up buying a couple more snorkel sets for around $20.each. Likewise the bikes, rideable for short periods of time, but no gears for longer rides.
I really only had one major complaint and that was with the smell in the garage. It's very dank and actually has some mold on the one wall. On the bright side, the smell does not come into the house at all so if you can avoid the garage you avoid the smell.
We loved this home. We would stay there again. And we would recommend it to others for sure.
We are so happy that you enjoyed the home and that it was a nice fit for your large family! Thank you for telling me about the knives; I plan on replacing these immediately given your experience with them! Also, we are in the process of remedying the garage issue by retiling the deck and fixing any leaks into the garage from all of the rain we get on the island.
Aloha for now,
Great place for a large group
We had a group of 11 people. 4 couples and some singles. It was wonderful to stay all together and have enough space to do different activities around the house without being in each others way. House was clean, very spacious, lots of dining space, nice and quite neighborhood. Our family enjoyed spending time in the game room. It included a Pool table, fuse-ball table, and additional board games. Kitchen had everything needed, including some left over supplies, spices and basic necessities. House is only 3 minute walking from a trail that takes to the ocean, The Queen Bath. Perfect morning walk and Sunset watching location.
Tammy, the owner, was pleasant and easy to work with. Personal communication made it easier to arrange and figure things out.
Few things to improve. House could use a bit of remodel in bathrooms. It would be nice to have extra towels. (We ended up doing laundry daily).
Wonderful place for large families.
We are a family of 11. Nonnie, Papa, 2 daughters and 7 grandkids. We loved the house and Tammy was wonderful to deal with. She went the extra mile to make us comfortable and at home. We are looking forward to going back again. Thank you Tammy !
