Sue and Mike Elms are semi retired professionals from Staffordshire in the UK. We have travelled extensively and whilst we love the extra little bit of luxury in life we fully embrace that its your family and friends that make life special. All three of our 'kids' now very grown up, love spending time in Nevis.
Susan Elms purchased this villa in 2007
Once we had chosen Nevis as the location for our Wintersun home, we built the house in this location primarily for the views and then set about making it a home from home with all the amenities that make it a pleasure to stay. Over the years we have added to the gadgets and to the garden to make it a home from home.
My perfect day in Nevis is to get up early and watch the day break over the Caribbean sea with a cup of tea and the Times Newspaper (down loaded on my ipad). Then around 10 am the sun is on the deck and time to get some rays, maybe see the monkeys in the garden! Then we decide where to eat, probably one of the great beach bars and after a gorgeous lunch and maybe a bottle of wine, we chillax on the beach with a book until the sun sets and then we go home..What could be better than that, the temperature constantly 24-28c!
Mango Breeze does not disappoint! The home is well equipped and spacious. We looked the outdoor area including the screened in area. The views were simply amazing! It was lovely watching the Verde Monkeys enjoying their daily breakfast and sometimes lunch in the Mango tee, and watching the ships and sailboats heading to St. Kitts. The nearby restaurants and beaches were wonderful. You definitely need a car to get around. The property manager and staff were courteous and very helpful. We definitely recommend Mango Breeze.
My family stayed at this home for a week in order to go to our wedding. The home was just what we expected and then some. The views were breathtaking. 7 fit comfortably. The owner was very helpful throughout the process. I would recommend anyone to stay here.
Pictures and now words couldn't capture this stunning experience of awakening daily to the beautiful lush island of Nevis, the wonderful sounds of the birds and various wildlife surrounding this home and that backdrop of the beautiful Caribbean and St Kitts. I honestly believe this house is seated in the perfect location.
Nothing is far on Nevis however it is quite convenient to go right down the hill a five minute drive to Pinneys beach early and have the entire beach to yourself until around noon (than boats arrive). We did find a little puppy at Sunshine's who hung with us daily too (we also brought the little guy food) and you will find "Carib" who belongs to "Turtle Time" and likes to chase wheels, jet skies and is visited by all who come to the beach. Carry your chairs in the car by the way!!!
We hopped the entire island as we added the vechicle on for the stay..."paradise beach" (not the resort) is a local hang out although we saw only cows when we drove down the path (turn dirt road before school to go) is best private beach area with the most amazing view of the islands and privacy all day long! If you forgot your cooler and walk further the way you will come to a beautiful beach bar and that will be Paradise resort!
We did a hike up to "the source" which you don't need a guide for however you will need more than the stick they suggest at Golden Rock (which is amazingly beautiful gardens..and a lunch spot)...I suggest climbing gear and good hiking shoes - trail narrows out to a thin edge over a ravine that you likely won't be climbing out of! If any rain prior to your hikes don't bother the danger of the mountains at least not to the peaks!
Some of our favorites for food were Christi's Beach, or Turtle Beach at lunch, and the Indian restaurant for best curry ever. We did have also nice tapas at the Gin Trap (and wonderful environment at well). But Coconuts the most delish by far and very nice atmosphere for dinner!
There's Island barbecues we made one...Nesbit's it was great music, new friends and food was superb!
For those who keep fit there's a local gym (it's right above the supermarket) "Be Fit" worked just fine for our stay..
We found all locals to be friendly and very accomandating, we visited and hung out in many of their small local establishments, stopped by their shops and are grateful for the opportunity to share the beautiful of the island that they call home.
Be grateful ...and treat all equal...we are one
Mango Breeze is a lovely home with spectacular views! It is up high above everything, immersed in nature, making it very peaceful and relaxing. Our teenagers had plenty to do, even when we were just hanging around at the house. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking if you want the option but there are so many fabulous restaurants nearby it can be hard to choose. I highly recommend renting the car along with the house but driving in Nevis is not for the feint of heart. (Be prepared for very narrow, bumpy roads.) The property owner and management staff were very helpful while planning our visit. They made everything really easy for first-time visitors. I look forward to visiting again!
Nine of us ranging in age from 5 - 70 traveled from various parts of USA and Canada to meet at this wonderful home for a week to celebrate my parent's 50th anniversary, and I miss it already! Making arrangements with Sue was a breeze, she responded within hours, and took care of all of our pre-arrival needs and questions. The home was lovely, perfect layout for our large group, we each felt we had our own space without being on top of each other. It was very well appointed and equipped; the highlights being meals and late-night card games in the screened in dining room, ping-pong in the lower level; reading/napping on the covered patio with the views over the pool, garden, seas and St. Kitts were indescribable!! Those perfect sunset shots - you will find them here. The home and yard were spotless, so clean in spite of the adorable little birds who fluttered in and out trying to build their nests. We really enjoyed the families of monkeys frolicking and eating mangoes daily in the side yard. A car is a must, but the drive up to the house is easily do-able and added to the allure of staying in this home, very private and very tranquil. We commented upon our arrival that the home is even better than the lovely pictures we saw ahead of time, you won't be disappointed.
Nevis is a special place - if you're looking for a highly touristy vacation, don't go here. This island is lay-back, safe, and the locals and ex-pats are so friendly that we felt we belonged after only a week. Watch for the swales in roads, and of course the free-roaming donkeys and goats, who have the right of way (and are very cute). Of course we ate at Sunshine's, more than once actually, and I highly recommend the Gin Trap where the hostess Lisa made us feel like family - her daughter, chef Mary (Cordon Bleu trained) prepared the best meal any of us have had - and not just on vacation!
Of course what vacation isn't complete without beaches and there are many to choose from. We enjoyed Lovers and Herbert's Beaches, both of which we had completely to ourselves. Oualie beach was great for the kids (and have a meal, the food was very good), as was Pinney's Beach followed by a Killer Bee at Sunshine's.
A perfect vacation was had by all, you can do as much or as little as you want, and we are left with many special memories, we will be back!
This elegant escape is easy to access. Great communication with the owner. Easy, reliable connections on arrival. Reasonable, easy to understand instructions for the stay.
Great kitchen. Fantastic en suite rooms. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful outdoor living spaces. Monkeys to observe (and that observe you), but since we never fed or coaxed, they were never intrusive or bothersome. The view from the pool area and dining porch truly is a million dollar view.
Mango Breeze is out of the way, yet close to anything you may want. And having access to the SUV was so convenient. The steering wheel is American style, but think British when driving. Left side of the road!!
We first came to nevis 12 years ago, to find winter sun, and to build a luxury second home.
We were lucky enough to stumble across a local builder, who showed us the undeveloped area of fern hill upper estates. At that time no other houses existed there but the views were unbelievable!
It took us 2 years to design and build our dream home and carefully furnish it, shipping most of the interior finishes from italy and the uk.
What makes mango breeze special?
Well apart from the views, we have added...
A designer italian kitchen complete with a commercial ice machine, wine chiller and all other modern appliances.
A large games/tv room with bar, full sized pool table, table tennis and ample seating.
Air conditioning in all 4 bedrooms and a beautifully landscaped garden.
Until now the house has only been used by our family, and so 2015 is the first time that we will be offering it for rental.
We frequently holiday in nevis, and never get time to visit all the first class restaurants or enjoy all the island has to offer. Time just slips away in this unspoilt paradise.
For that special day out, charter a yacht just for you and your friends, or pop over to st kitts for a champagne brunch at the new luxury resort of kittitian hills.
Restaurants...Chrishi beach club, bananas, sunshines, mangos, riviera are amongst the best ..Our favourite, probably chrishi beach club..Very shabby chic!
Then there is the fabulous plantation houses, montpelier (where princess diana stayed) golden rock, and nesbitt (originally owned by fanny nesbitt wife of nelson).
Water sports are on offer from funky monkeys, where you can also hire a quad bike to explore the island.
If you are feeling more energetic you can hire bikes, kayaks and hobie cats from oualie beach club, where you can also book up for snorkel and scuba.
For tennis and golf, world class facilities are available at the beautiful four seasons resort...But after you have done all that...Trundle back up the hill and relax in our luxury villa.
