beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for 9 days; The house was great with comfortable furniture and all major appliances including a washer and dryer which is a necessity for a long stay.

It was about an hour drive to Ottawa on scenic roads.

We had 2 does with 2 fawns each visit every evening and turkeys came to feed in the mornings, There are many varieties of birds including whippoorwills and woodpeckers. There are walking/cross country skiing trails through the large bushed area. Many of the trees are maple so it would be a beautiful fall setting.

I would highly recommend this property to anyone.

Tis the season for rambling,,,make it a fun road trip to beautiful Lanark Highlands!!

  • 5 of 5

After passing thru Toronto traffic we happily chose the rest of the the drive on Hwy 7 the slower scenic route,,,enjoying a couple of stops along the way. A rest stop at Silver Lake Provincial Park just to take in the beauty of the lake and a stop at The Spud Box for a tasty burger and fries. We easily arrived at our destination, a newly renovated country home furnished with lots of modern charm. The long driveway ends at the house set on a hill overlooking rolling grass lawns surrounded by woods with hiking trails and lots of open space to explore! Catherine the owner was only a call away. She met us right on time, she was friendly helpful and made us feel welcomed and comfortable! We found the original homestead tucked off in the woods quite interesting and Catherine shared the properties history with us.

Inside this clean relaxing home is a large family room with comfortable chairs and couches. Windows all around to enjoy the outside scenery. The kitchen and bathroom were both well stocked with all the necessities and so much more!! All towels & paper products were conveniently in place for our use! Both bedrooms had new decor and we enjoyed our 3 nites in a queen size comfortable bed, pillows and sheets were nicely provided.

The town of Perth is nearby and this is where we bought groceries later in the evening after we checked in at the house. We enjoyed cooking on the gas stove and BBQ'd some great food. We enjoyed eating breakfast and dinner outside, making use of the large deck and comfortable patio furniture! For activities we brought our own badminton set and a karaoke machine for the evening. Stars at nite are something to see too!! The swinging chair on the porch was great for a morning coffee while watching the sun rise. On the third day we travelled to Ottawa enjoying the sites of the Parliament buildings and a tour of Rideau Hall, visited the Byward Market an Irish pub patio and found some tasty poutine!! :-) We even drove into Gatineau Quebec and bought a little less pricey case of beer! We shopped for award winning Hummingbird's chocolate in the quaint town of Almonte and on to Balderson for their famous aged cheddar cheese!

Solo or with your tribe if you agree there's something about summer that invokes a sense of anythings-possible, big-sky, off-the-beaten-track adventurousness we definitely recommend this property!

Owner's Response: Thank you for the outstanding review. I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay with us and your exploration of our beautiful country side. You are both lovely people, so out going and friendly and I enjoyed meeting you. Hopefully I will see again. In the fall the colour of the leaves are amazing. Winter time the trails are great to cross country ski or snow shoe. Once again thank you for taking the time to review us. Yours truly, Catherine Adams PS: Thank you for sharing the Indian food with us. It was great!
