10/10. Everything I look for in a home away: clean, comfortable, and downright luxurious. Good shower pressure. Very, very comfy bed. Perfect location. In response to prior review, the next door guy was partying super loud when I got back to my room around 10:40 Saturday but I notified the concierge and he was super responsive and swiftly and kindly took care of it. The music stopped within 1 to 2 minutes which was followed by silence all night thereafter. Just gotta ask it was easy.
We loved our stay at the Cathrine. You couldn't beat the location and could walk anywhere in the city. The staff was friendly and we loved the complimentary coffee in the morning. The studio itself was perfect. Wonderfully decorated, had all the comforts of home, and the bed was SO comfortable. The city views were spectacular as well. We took advantage of the wonderful weather and got our exercise outdoors but the gym in the Catherine was top notch. Wish we would have brought our swimsuits and enjoyed the infinity pool but who would have expected the weather to be so nice in February. All in all, a 5 star experience and we will definitely be back!
We enjoyed our stay and the apartment complex is very nice. Great pool, BBQ area, area with TV, and security is very good. The studio is very homey and the King bed very comfortable. The balcony is big and a great place to relax. The only things I would recommend is to have more than 3 washcloths, and more plates and silverware, a recycle bin, and maybe a small vacuum.
Loved my stay. Would like better water pressure in the shower. All else very nice.
My wife and I booked a trip to stay here from Friday April 15 to Monday April 18. The apartment is as pictured - lovely decor, high-end finishes, etc. There were a couple of minor things wrong (e.g. no remote control, so no TV) but we weren't too concerned with it as we planned to be out all weekend.
The trouble started Friday night. As we learned, while everything seems high-end at this building there is actually no staff on duty after 5 pm. Not even a security guard. That night the unit next door was having a party. People coming and going, doors slamming, music playing and people shouting, beer cans strewn in the hallway and elevator area. It got louder and louder as the night went on. By 2 am, the walls were shaking with hip-hop music and we were worried the pictures on the wall might fall down.
Calls to the unit owner's hotline got us in touch with her after-hours support person. She's lovely, but in Colorado. Unable to get the unit owner on the phone, her only suggestion was to call the police. Not knowing who was next door, nor how to get the police into a building locked down (you need a key fob to get in/out), we decided to leave at 2:30 am and try to find a hotel. We weren't able to get into a hotel room in Austin until 4 am. We left it with the support agent that we expected to hear from the unit owner the next morning.
The next day we didn't hear back from the unit owner until after 5 pm. She was distraught and complained to us about how her cleaning people had quit on her and she was exhausted (she was exhausted? how about us?). While we agreed that the party wasn't her fault, she couldn't offer a single thing that she had done to try to ensure it didn't happen again Saturday night. After a long discussion she offered to refund our money completely, which we accepted. As a result we stayed in the hotel the rest of the weekend, operating in good faith that she would honor her word.
Three weeks later I contacted the owner to ask why I hadn't received a refund. A few days later I got an email offering a partial refund of only one night, and was told in the email that I had signed a contract and that I shouldn't expect more. No mention of her promise to refund our entire stay. Subsequent emails to her have gone unanswered, so I'm now in a position of having to contact my credit card company and accuse her of fraud. VRBO's only suggestion is to write a review with my complaints and hope that the unit owner wants to resolve them.
This was one of the most simple check in processes I have experienced. In fact, this was one occasion it was unnecessary to contact the owner after arrival....the welcome correspondence and the in-unit information was extremely detailed and helpful.
The apartment is beautiful. No detail was left to assumption--perfectly done. The balcony was the perfect touch to the end of the day. As frequently as we visit Austin, this was an easy favorite rental. The location is perfect for downtown excursions.
Staying here is a must for the discerning weekender.
Amazing New building on the river feeding you into the heart of all Austin has to offer!
