Peaceful and convenient location with good facilities
Lovely as usual but not as clean as our last visit.certain areas very dusty.did not clean under settees.kitchen cupboards need cleaning.out of date food which made it smell musty.overall we do love the cottage and location.
We had a great week in a great place. Dale Cottage is cosy, warm and lovely so easy to stay in. Picturesque too with a lovely front garden. High Lorton is interesting itself with a special tree, an old brewery, an old hall, a shop and a pub. The North western fells are of course beautiful and also less busy than others. We have great walks round Buttermere and up Haystacks. A super holiday.
Wonderful cottage in beautiful surroundings
We had a wonderful week at Dale Cottage. Perfectly located in beautiful surroundings. Great for relaxing at the end of a day's walking. We especially enjoyed the wood burner in the cooler evenings. The cottage is lovely and had everything we needed, and we hope to return in the future.
A pefect holiday cottage.
We have just spent a week staying in Dale Cottage. What a beautiful place it is, situated in the lovely peaceful village of Lorton. The cottage has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Logs and kindling were provided for the stove. The views out over the fields and fell side are wonderful. The cottage has a lovely enclosed little garden. The cottage was warm and very clean and smartly furnished. We would love to stay again. Lorton is perfectly situated for exploring the western fells. Cockermouth is nearby. The village pub The Wheatsheaf is excellent - dog friendly, excellent beer and food.
Beautiful, quiet and clean
Our second visit to this cottage in 4 months. And will stay again. Just a perfect comfortable cottage in the perfect location. As a hiker - there's so many fantastic peaks to choose from in this area!
Perfect perfect perfect!!!
The village is surrounded by stunning hills and woods and there are six lovely lakes within 5 miles. You might also enjoy the great facilities for outdoor activities at Whinlatter Forest: Go-Ape, mountain biking courses, childrens' adventure play area.
In Cockermouth you will find the beautiful house where Wordsworth was brought up and in Keswick the Theatre- by- the- Lake offers a wonderful programme of drama and arts.
