Beautiful white stone Croatian seafront house in centre of Bol. Lovely views.
About Carol Wilson
Having already visited Croatia my family and I were delighted when late in 2003 three television programmes in short succession waxed lyrical about Croatia, where, for the first time, non-Croatians could purchase a house. We could not believe our luck when we found Harbour House, and were fortunate enough to be able to buy it.
Carol Wilson purchased this House in 2004
Why Carol Wilson chose Bol
The reason we love Harbour House is that it really is a beautiful house. Right on the seafront, and retaining the simplicity of the fisherman's house that it was, we have panoramic views of the whole area as well as a secluded garden behind the house. Bol Town Beach is only 25 metres from the house and we enjoy an early morning swim, followed by breakfast at Pumparella, on the harbour, or fresh croissants from the bakery nearby with coffee at home. From the terrace there are marvellous sea views, and people say that we have the best views in Bol. We have seen a pod of whales swimming, very early in the morning, through the channel between the islands [mother and baby], although this only happened once!
What makes this House unique
Harbour House is unique. It is the only privately owned house right on Bol Harbour and has the benefits of being in the heart of everything [very near to the open air farmer's market, the supermarket, chemist, bank, bakery, Post Office for inexpensive telephone calls home, and three beaches] whilst remaining quiet and cool.. Guests can eat at home in the well equipped kitchen with its amazing views or venture out to one of the local restaurants where the food is delicious and inexpensive. The harbour itself is full of little shops selling traditional Croatian crafts artifacts or fashionable clothing. There is a lovely restaurant where you can cook your own food on a hot stone at the water's edge, and the many little bars have tables harbourside. Bol is famous for watersports and the house is close to a water sports centre, and water sport and kite surfing can be arranged as well as tennis coaching if required. With its air conditioning, double glazing and secondary double glazing Harbour House has all of the benefits of being at the heart of the village without the disadvantages of noise. Once the shutters and windows are closed and the air conditioning is on the house is virtually silent.

Wonderful house, wonderful view
This is a copy of a review we wrote for our stay in August 2011.
We spent a fabulous week at the Harbour House in Bol. We parked the car in the small harbour car park (around 50m from the house) and didn't drive again until we left. The town is big enough to have variety but small enough to walk. Any sightseeing was done leisurely by boat.
The first thing you realize when you get into he house is just how fabulous the view is. Whether you are looking out of the kitchen window or the bedrooms or lazing on the terrace, the view over the harbour and out to sea is stunning.
There are plenty of good places to eat or drink cocktails. The famous and beautiful Zlatni Rat beach is a nice (but longish) walk away along the coast or you take one of the regular road-trains that go from the harbour.
The house is comfortable and the AC helped keep us cool at night.
The house was comfortable and clean but at the end of the day, the view was the absolute highlight.
Lovely house in the harbour
We had a lovely holiday staying at Harbour House in Bol. The house is a simple cottage with no pretences but perfectly comfortable and in a great central location. The roof terrace, in particular, is a lovely place to chill out while watching the boats come and go in the harbour. It was very hot and the house thankfully had a good aircon system which kept the bedrooms cool.
Bol harbour is 'bustling' and there is always a lot going on which suited our young kids well. The boats and sea are metres away and there are plenty of boats and trips for hire. We went on a nice trip to Hvar and hired a RIB speed boat from Bol for the day to go around HVAR island.
Best beach for us was the monastery beach 5 minutes walk away - a lovely peaceful pebble (they all are) beach with a nice bar and restaurant next to it. The famous Rat beach was a bit busy and noisy for us although older kids would love it as there is lots going on.
We loved being right in the centre of the town and next to the sea - a great combination and everything you could want is literally on your doorstep. We hired a car for the 2 weeks (mainly to get to and from Dubrovnik airport) and it never left the car park by the ferries for 2 weeks as we had no need of it!
Be prepared for a very lively town and there is some loud music at night although it doesn't go on too late - around 1pm I think. The house has good double glazing so with the aircon on and windows shut it wasn't a problem. It is a very attractive town with good restaurants and shops etc.
For us it ticked all the boxes for a great holiday. Highly recommended.

In 2016 we send one of our top VIP clients to Harbour House in Bol, without seeing the property on our own.
Client was overwhelmed with location, standard and service. Now we can strongly recommend this property to all looking for a great holiday.

Absolutely stunning location
Carol’s house is superb in all dimensions: location, furniture, rooms, terrace, garden! We couldn’t have asked for anything more!
Also the checkin with the local host (Ivica) was very smooth and all recommendations and hints were on point!
We would definitely recommend this property!
lovely house, ideal position.
Carol and Ivica have been lovely hosts.
the house has a funny organisation but really convenient and lovely, at the center off the harbor.
everything was all right.
thank's a lot
We are so glad that you had a lovely holiday and enjoyed Bol and Harbour House. Thanks for the nice review.
The owner can provide details of taxi transfers and tours around the island. Boats go back and forth from the harbour to Zlatni Rat [Golden Horn] Beach, the most famous beach in Croatia, which is only a short distance away from Harbour House along the Marble Walk. This beach is shaped like a horn reaching out into the sea, and changes shape with the changing tides; A little road train trundles back and forth all day long between the various beaches in Bol. In the other direction along the coastal path are many places to eat including the Mill [Mlin], and the little restaurant built in a stone fisherman's house, right on the sea and with its own beach. This beach is absolutely perfect for small children. It is very easy to monitor your children on the beach, and there is plenty of shade under the trees at the hottest part of the day. The Dominican Monastery next to this beach has an original Tintoretto painting behind the altar, and many lovely features including a valuable and beautiful engraved ornamental ceiling under the choir loft. It also houses a museum with many Roman artifacts. The beautiful Branislav Deskovic Gallery, located in a small palace, which can be found just around the harbour from Harbour House, has the collected works of sculptors and painters born on Brac, as well as those who have spent time on the island either permanently or occasionally.
