About the property

Perfect Location, sleeps 7, great view, lovely property 3 min. from Golfing

Our little piece of heaven is a 3-bedroom recently constructed farmhouse nestled in the hills of our private 86 acres in Broad Cove Marsh, Inverness. From the house and the porch you can enjoy beautiful views of the sunset glistening off the distant ocean. In summer, the beaches are magnetic, and the water is actually quite warm (warmer than Maine and Massachusetts). Just 8 minutes from Inverness Beach and the world-renowned Cabot Links Golf Course. In the Autumn the property's foliage is a burst of color and there is a wood stove as well as central heating - be sure to check out Celtic Colors Festival in October! The west coast of Cape Breton offers some of the most stunning sunsets to be found anywhere. Our house is perfectly located for convenient access to the best Cape Breton has to offer. Nearby you will find beaches, golf, trekking, kayaking, biking, fishing, and numerous scenic drives. It is a lovely drive to the Cabot Trail (Cape Breton Highlands National Park). Free wifi and limited free telephone will help you make plans to enjoy these activities.

The house is bright and airy with wood floors throughout. The open floor plan allows for larger groups to mingle while preparing meals, dining or relaxing. Linens/towels are included and beds will be made up in advance so that you can relax upon arrival. The 1st floor bedroom has a double bed. The second floor master has a queen bed and plenty of floor space for an air mattress, The bedroom upstairs has both a double bed and a single bed and there is also a small cot suitable for a child. Our home is equipped with all the amenities, such as, dishwasher, laundry room, tons of cookware, BBQ grill, and more! In this area you will find an abundance of music, art, museums and other ways to enjoy the rich heritage of Cape Breton. We are excited to help you plan your trip if you should desire and will send you lots of information.

Travel & Leisure Magazine's World's Best Awards, for the fourth time, ranks Cape Breton Island as the #1 island to visit in Continental US & Canada and #3 in the world!

About Lisa and Brendan

This beautiful home was built by my father and named in his honor. We are certain you will enjoy the same happiness it has brought to our family.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We have spent many happy hours in this lovely home. I loved the peacefulness of the location. The hummingbirds and gold finches were our constant companions. The view was spectacular day or night, but I really enjoyed the sunsets the most. I caught up on my summer reading and an occasional nap helped me to unwind while there.

I grew up loving Scottish music and dance and there were plenty of places nearby where we could enjoyed them both. Ceilidhs ( musical gatherings ) take place all over the island. You can catch one at the Firemen's Hall in town once a week, or at some of the restaurants nearby. Our favorite places to eat and be entertained were the Red Shoe Pub in Mabou and the Glenora Distillery which was another interesting place to dine and hear music. Both have delicious food and are not far from the house

If you are lucky enough to get a rental during the last weekend in July you can attend the annual Broad Cove Concert. But hurry! Everyone wants that weekend. Local musicians perform at an outdoor stage set up just behind the Broad Cove Chapel which is about four miles from where we stayed. There is singing and dancing to enjoy as well, and it is a good way to meet interesting people from the area. If you want to get really involved, there is a square dance that takes place after the concert at a near by hall. We went just to hear the music and watch the people kick up their feet. It was so much fun!

Our children and grandchildren loved the beach, and there are several gorgeous ones to choose from nearby. None of them are crowded and all of them are clean and beautiful.

Blueberry picking was another fun family activity. Because we had a well equipped kitchen available to us we were able to make muffins, pancakes, pies etc. We loved eating them right from the bowl.

Though our friends who came to visit had different interests (golfing, kayaking, hiking, and fishing) we still had fun all together. In the evenings, over a glass of wine, we would sit on the porch and share our day. We always ended the evening by congratulating each other on having found such a magical place. It is our little piece of heaven here on earth! There really is something here for everyone and I can't wait to get back.

Great spot, accommodating and clean

We would have hoped for bigger beds and closer to the water but other than that it was great.

Excellent stay and location

  • 5 of 5

This was our first time at this excellent residence. It is well-located near Inverness and is interestingly secluded, and it met all of our expectations. The beds were comfortable and the property was quaint. The place offers an all around comfortable stay, and it was very pleasant corresponding with Lisa. We would recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet time away.

Handsome, spacious and well equipped house in beautiful setting

  • 5 of 5

The only downside of this property that we can think of is that the house, yard, setting and the town are so beautiful and comfortable that you are perfectly happy to just spend the whole day (or several whole days!) there, as you feel less of a need to go explore all the other beautiful locations and interesting experiences that Cape Breton has to offer.

We swam at Inverness beach. The water seemed cold at first but once we had mustered all our courage and went all in it was really quite glorious and comfortable (as well as clean and clear), and we swam for a long time. We were there in the late afternoon and when you're in the water, looking at the beach, the sun gives the beach a beautiful golden glow.

There are great views, fabulous food and friendly service at the Cabot Bar restaurant (we were considerably less impressed with the service at the more expensive 'Panorama' restaurant upstairs).

Great Stay

  • 5 of 5

First time at this beautiful house. The location was perfect for our purposes. Used as a base for day trips around the island. Amenities were what we needed. Wifi very reliable. Sunsets were spectacular. Close to Cabot Links and Cabot Cliffs, 2 world class golf courses in problems at all. Saw moose in yard. Overall a perfect holiday.

We have visited this beautiful location many times and have had a wonderful vacation each time. The home is very clean, comfortable and perfect for our family. We enjoyed relaxing on the porch overlooking the many beautiful views and the beach is just a short distance away! This house has a beautiful feel about it. You can see that a lot of time and love has gone into it to make this the perfect vacation location. It is kept in mint condition.

We sure intend to be back! Highly recommended!!
