superb accommodation in a very good location
What a gem! The gite is perfect for either just enjoying relaxing at the property, it has a stunning secluded roof terrace, or, as a centre for exploring the beautiful area, including trips into Spain.
The two large double bedrooms were very comfortable, and the main living space works incredibly well for both dinning and relaxing (if you're not on the terrace). Eva and Steffi, our hosts, were brilliant being very unobtrusive but ready to help out at any time
Only thing to be aware of is that access to the gite is up a flight of stairs.
We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely go again
Barn Conversion between Argeles & St. Cyprien
Mas is the local word for a farmstead and this property is one a collection of farm buildings built in the early 19th century. Romarin and its neighbour Lavende are in fact contained within what was once the barn. A floor has been formed inside the barn and these 2 properties are on the first floor reached by separate external wooden staircases. A clever feature is that part of the roof has been removed at the rear to provide 2 good sized terrasses which offer spectacular views across the adjoining farmland to the Alberes mountain range. The terrasse is in the French style with terracotta floor, wooden table, chairs and sunbeds, BBQ, sunshades and pot plants.
We stayed in Romarin for a week at the end of October 2012 and we chose it because dogs are very welcome. The living area is spacious and well equipped. The kitchen equally so with a dishwasher. There are 2 bedrooms with large comfortable double beds and 2 bathrooms, one with a shower and the other with a bath. There is plenty of wardrobe space provided in the hall and a utility room.
Because of the time of year we stayed we did not spend too much time on the terrasse and found the heating provided in all the rooms kept us warm indoors.
The barn is about 5 minutes drive from the main road from Argeles to St. Cyprien and therefore it is a good idea to make sure before you go that you have either a SatNav or a detailed road map. Car parking is under cover adjoining the barn.
Although WiFi is available, just be aware that it is not available within Romarin itself.
But, what made this place so special was the welcome from the 2 ladies who manage the accommodation, and their dog.
Hi Roger, thanks a lot for your lovely comment, I just want to add to avoid confusion for further guests: of course the barn conversion Rosemary benefits from a perfect wifi connection: the signal is excellent in all the rooms, the terrace and even in the garden.
It's only the rooter itself which is not IN the barn rosemary, but in a little room with seperate acces just beside. But that does not influence at all the function of the WIFI for the barn Rosemary.
Thanks again for your nice review and hope to see you again!
Appartment very good.Proprieters excellent.
Surroundings disappointing.Good for beaches and mountains.
