Overview

About the property

Our house has it all! On the water, plus a short walk to the beach and town.

Our house sits at the tip of a peninsula which overlooks Wellfleet Harbor and Duck Creek. Birds frolic in the surrounding grass and bushes, cormorants and seagulls dive before you, Great Blue Herons patrol before your eyes, and ducks swim by. We are surrounded by perhaps the most serene and breathtaking vista on the Cape, or anywhere. It is viewed from the deck and living/dining room with three walls of glass.

The beauty is forever amazing. At high tide you say ''That's the most amazing''. Then you see it at low tide with the meandering blue creek cutting through the exposed tidal flats, and you think ''Now it is at its most beautiful''. You swear it is best on a sunny day when the white steeple is contrasted against the crisp blue sky, but then you experience it when it is cloudy and misty. You smell the salt air and hear the ships' bells, and say ''It is never more magical than this.''

The great room has an open floor plan encompassing the living room, dining room, kitchen and an office. The living room and dining room are surrounded by three walls of glass each with sliding glass doors entering onto the wrap-around deck. Open the doors and the shore breeze creates natural air-conditioning.

The kitchen is well supplied for a gourmet cook, with microwave, toaster-oven, food processor, blender, coffee bean grinder, coffee brewer, etc. The bedrooms are normal size, whereas most in vacation homes are small.

If you have a boat, we are less than a 5 minute walk to the Marina. About an 8 minute walk to Mayo Beach.

About Ted Orenstein

We live in the Boston area and have vacationed in Wellfleet since we both were kids. We first saw this cottage when we were looking for a rental in 1991. We were shown 5 places, but there was no comparison. This was so far above the rest.

Ted Orenstein purchased this cottage in 1998

Why Ted Orenstein chose Wellfleet

We learned this house was for sale in 1998, and could not bear the thought of no longer being able to vacation in this special place. We immediately agreed to buy it.

Some of our guests have been renting our cottage since before we even started renting it. It is a place one immediately falls in love with. We have many repeat guests, and we love to share this special little piece of Heaven with them.

What makes this cottage unique

Our cottage is perfectly located. We are in a heavenly spot in which you feel insulated from the rest of the world, but a short easy walk to Mayo beach, Wellfleet Village, shops, galleries and restaurants. If you have a boat, or want to rent or charter one for deep sea fishing, we are a 5 minute walk to the Marina.

We are on the edge of a community in a private spot on the tip of a peninsula, with a 270° unbroken panoramic view of the harbor and Duck Creek. It is more than a view; you are actually in the midst of this idyllic scene.

We have perhaps the most serene and charming vista on the Cape, or anywhere.

Wonderful!

  • 4 of 5

We had a beautiful spring week here, watching the tides go in and out. You are so close to everything here; we bicycled and walked many miles without using our car. The delightful cottage is well appointed for any cooking you want to do and comfortable for just sitting and watching the birds. We hope to return soon.

The Best View in Wellfleet

  • 5 of 5

Bella Vista cottage overlooks Wellfleet harbor with views from every room. This cottage is not only a quiet, picturesque place for relaxation, but is within walking distance of art galleries, restaurants (both high end and casual), town center, library, theater, playground, farmer's market (on Wednesdays in the summer) and the beach. We brought our bikes and rode to all the Wellfleet beaches during our stay. Jack's boat rental dropped off a couple of kayaks and we paddled right near the cottage. The outdoor shower (a must!) comes with a view of the town steeple. Wellfleet is a charming town, and Bella Vista is the best cottage we've stayed in (and we've been vacationing in Wellfleet for 20+ years). Wish we had found it sooner.

We loved our first trip to beautiful Cape Cod!

  • 5 of 5

The owners of "Bella Vista" describe their cottage as "a little bit of Heaven", and it certainly lived up to their beautiful description! The view from this cottage is truly extraordinary, and this is a private place of tranquility and beauty. The village of Wellfleet is charming. The cottage itself is very clean, well organized, decorated with style, and very well equipped with whatever you might need. The kitchen is efficient and well stocked if you would like to cook in. The landlords are a pleasure to deal with and made our stay very enjoyable since they were able to offer many good suggestions of places to see, things to do, and restaurants (including entrees) to try. Their Bella Vista Handbook is an excellent guide to all those who are fortunate enough to stay at this special place! We highly recommend this beautiful cottage, and we hope to return someday!
