About Nancy Pippin

This photo shows three generations of the Bone/Pippin/Johnson family. We've loved the Sea Rooster for a longggg time! Come on down. We're sure you'll love it as much as we do!

Calvin and Nancy Pippin

Nancy Pippin purchased this cottage in 1966

Why Nancy Pippin chose Topsail Island

Back in the 60's my parents took a day trip to the beach and the rest as they say 'is history'!

The curtains were blowing in the wind (no AC back then!) and my mom fell in love with the house. We've been enjoying it ever since!

What makes this cottage unique

Relaxation, relaxation, relaxation! Take a snooze on the futon after your book falls out of your hand. Enjoy your first cup of morning coffee in the rocking chairs on the porch while watching the world come alive. Watch the most beautiful sunset in the world in the same rockers in the evenings. Swim out to the sandbar right in front of the house. Tie your boat or jet ski up in deep water at the pier in your own front yard. Gather around the large kitchen table for food and fellowship. Take a short two block walk to the ocean. Bring or rent bikes and pedal around the island. Discover the shops and quaint Putt-Putt and skating rink near by. Take a cruise to a dockside dinner in Surf City or Wilmington. Visit the only Sea Turtle hospital around. We could go on-but you get the picture so come on down!

Love this place

  • 5 of 5

I absolutely love this place. My family has had the pleasure of staying here the past two summers and we are already looking forward to next year. This place has everything you could want....Its roomy and extremely clean, has a private pier, floating dock, dock fenders, screened in porch, awesome sun sets, etc....... On top of this, the owners are an absolute pleasure to work with. We are looking forward to spending many more summers at the Sea Rooster.

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for your nice review! Looks like what started as taking a last minute piece of a vacant week last year may lead to many yearly returns for your family! We are glad that our home works well for you.

Delightful soundfront cottage

  • 5 of 5

Our family has stayed at the Sea Rooster most summers since 1998, and each time, it's a delight. The house is just right already, but the owners make improvements every year, anyway. We spend a lot of time in the sound--swimming to the sandbar, sailing, and paddling kayaks. And it's a short walk to the ocean. We sure hope to come back next year!

Another Wonderful Family Week at The Sea Rooster

  • 5 of 5

This was our third stay at this wonderful soundfront cottage at Topsail Beach.

Once again, our family was able to unwind and enjoy some of the Good Lord's handiwork!

The place is neat and clean, and on the ground level (no steps to climb).

I am a boater and there is a wonderful dock and floating dock to keep your boat at your backdoor.

The walk to the beach is short and scenic.

This place has such a feel of home and family.

Nothing fancy, but just what we look for in beach place.

Nancy is wonderful to work with.

We'll certainly return to this little slice of paradise!

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for your response. It warms our heart that others can enjoy the Sea Rooster as much as we do. We too are sound people. We know the ocean is over there but sometimes we never see it as we spend our time on the sound. It really spoils you to be able to walk out the door and onto the boat! Thanks also for the nice note through USPS. Glad that you noticed and enjoyed the new windows, blinds, paint job, TV and queen beds! Even though it's old, we work very hard to keep the house in great shape! Hope you get to return next year! Nancy

Tennessee Family

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week at the Sea Rooser in June and were so pleased with the clean and comfortable home. We were fishing off the dock every night and had great luck and fun - caught a variety of fish. The proximity to the public beach access was an easy and quick walk. The neighbors were quiet and seldom seen. We appreciated the well-stocked kitchen and the laundry facilities. The screened porch with swing and rockers made our time in the shade fun, too. We have been visiting Topsail for several years (first time at Sea Rooser) and keep returning because of the quiet community, great shelling at the end of the island, and especially love the way a vacation in such an area 'forces' one to relax. We had time to enjoy each other as a couple and reconnected with our college-age son. We hope to bring more family members with us next year to this blessed place. Note: The family picture collages were so special, as were all the signed paintings - pictures and on furniture - and made us feel as if we were being welcomed by extended family!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for this review! We try hard to keep our home up well so that our family and others can enjoy it. As for the painted furniture and pictures; it was kind of you to mention them. They are bittersweet as many of the folks who painted the furniture or are in the pictures are either no longer able to come or no longer with us. Our home has been loved so far by 3 generations of family with the 4th on the way! We hope you get to come and bring your dad next year!

Relaxing vacation

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed at the Sea Rooster in May and really enjoyed it. It was just the two of us, but there is room for lots more people. We loved the screened porch facing beautiful sound and the private pier & dock. The beach is just a couple of minutes away across the street. In my opinion, Topsail has the best beach for walking, playing and shell collecting down at the end of the island. The home is beautifully maintained and clean with a fully stocked kitchen, washer dryer, comfortable beds, indoor games for those rainy afternoons, and much more. We hope to get to go back in the early fall. Nancy is friendly and easy to communicate with. I would recommend this place for anybody who wants a comfortable, relaxing, fun vacation.

Perfect Family Stay

  • 5 of 5

We have now stayed at the Sea Rooster twice, and hope to come back again. Great down-to-earth kind of retreat. The place sits on the Topsail sound (ground level, one story) with some of the most gorgeous sunsets you will ever see. The screen porch on the sound side is a great reading and relaxing spot; complete with rocking chairs and porch swing. We are boaters and the floating dock was perfect for our 18 foot boat. And the beach is only a couple of blocks to bike or walk. Very comfortable cottage. With good communications with the owners; very nice folks. Perfect family stay!
