We have lived on the North Shore for 20 years and have come to love the breadth of activity and beauty that it offers. When we found this home we immediately fell in love with the location and setting. We will one day move into this wonderful home when we become empty-nesters. For now, this great location and setting are yours to enjoy.
Linda purchased this house boat in 2014
The home allows one to get away from it all and still be close to all the attractions Vancouver has to offer. Whether you want to hike the local mountains or wine and dine downtown, you will be close to it all.
Enjoy nature and city living in one convenient location. This tranquil, modern, float home is a unique and memorable experience. Located in the outdoor playground of the North Shore with easy access to downtown Vancouver. Easy access to numerous mountain trails, three local ski hills, Whistler and Horseshoe Bay Ferry Terminal. A twelve minute sea bus ride to downtown, the Canada line and Vancouver International Airport.
Foodies will enjoy the walk to the Quay for fresh, local seafood and produce that can be brought back and prepared in a gourmet kitchen.
There is a workshop on the lower level for storing your bikes or tuning your skis. Power up the Sonos and enjoy your favourite music as you work.
Staying in this float home was an experience that we would recommend to those looking for a beautifully appointed and modern place to stay – that is also unique. The views cannot be beat - looking out at the marina and downtown Vancouver in the distance. We watched the sunset each night on the deck.
The home has all the conveniences that you would need, with a fully-equipped kitchen, comfortable living and dining areas in an open concept.
We found the location at the marina to be very convenient to get to and with amenities close by. We were able to walk to a few minutes to restaurants and the Sea Bus to ride across the bay into Vancouver.
Linda was very attentive and gave us lots of helpful information to make our stay extra special. We will keep this on our list to visit again!
This family of four - mom, dad and twin seventeen year old daughters had a WONDERFUL stay in this lovely float home. Our hosts, Linda and James made us feel very welcome. Fresh flowers, cheese, bread and Pellegrino water, upon arrival was so welcoming! We really appreciated that!
The design of the float home is not only beautiful but also extremely well planned out. All appliances are top knotch and highly functional. Kitchen supplies were abundant, it was so easy to shop local markets and come home after busy days and still be able to have a nice home made dinner.
We loved the location! We didn't have a car, nor did we need one. The almost daily commute to downtown Vancouver was made more enjoyable by taking the sea bus!
There is so much to do and see in a city like Vancouver, but we wound up enjoying our "down" time in this warm and cosy home very much! When it rained we enjoyed the fireplace indoors, when it was sunny we enjoyed the umbrella on the terrace with gorgeous views of downtown Vancouver!
We highly recommend this property and we very much thank the owners, Linda and James.
We arrived to fresh flowers in all the rooms and sparkling water and fresh bread and cheese. The owners are helpful and extremely prompt to any questions. We needed a little help navigating the TV remote and the owner was there in a flash. As you sit on the deck, beyond the sailboats in the marina is the Vancouver skyline. Beautiful by day or night! It is a pleasant walk to the seabus ferry that takes you straight to the Waterfront in Vancouver city. A relaxing shopping and restaurant center at the Lonsdale Quay has every type of food you can imagine. A grocery and liquor store a block beyond that. A scenic drive away from Horseshoe Bay or Capilano Bridge and just two hours to Whistler. Cannot imagine a better location.
Three of my college roommates and I gathered from around the US to celebrate our 40th birthdays together and I cannot say enough about our experience with Linda and her float house! Everything, from my initial contact with Linda to the location and the bed linens, was of the highest quality. Linda was personable, professional, and exceeded her responsibilities as a hostess. She greeted us with tasty treats, recommendations for attractions and restaurants, and a welcoming presence. The location of the float house allowed for a beautiful view of the city (we had fireworks shows across the harbor 2 nights during our stay!), an easy walk to the Seabus and other public transportation, the wonderful markets at Lonsdale Quay, and accessibility to attractions, such as the Capliano Suspension Bridge and Cliff Walks. The float house, itself, was a unique and memorable experience. Again, everything within the home was the best quality. The home came complete with everything we could've ever needed, including a Nespresso machine (helping to start off each awesome vacation day). The house was, of course, clean, beautifully decorated, and allowed us plenty of space to enjoy our time together, take in the views, and rest. So many great memories were made in Vancouver, but our highlight was certainly, the float house.
We were looking downtown originally, but the hotel rates were a bit more than we were choosing to spend. Went to Homeaway.com (second time), and found this beautiful home in North Vancouver. The pictures of the home were spot on. Linda was great to work with. She was responsive, informative on what to do and where to go, and even helped with last minute dinner recommendations!
The home was a very relaxing way to wind down after an active day in and around Vancouver. The view of the cityscape is wonderful, and we even could see the "Festival of Light" fireworks off in the distance one night. Excellent! Thanks Linda!
Our family was fortune enough to stay in this amazing float home for 5 months while renovating our new home. The other reviews describe this property so perfectly that we weren't sure what we could add to them other than to say "ditto+++".
The location was so much fun for us as we have always lived in neighbourhoods that were only within driving distance to groceries, restaurants and movie theatres. We rarely drove to anything from the float home and loved the very short walks to any amenity one could imagine. We really didn't want to leave.
This home far exceeded our expectations, it had everything we needed and more...and is super clean for those of you like us that are neat freaks.
Most importantly, our wonderful hosts. We have rented many homes on vrbo and have never had such caring, accomodating, responsive and generous hosts. Linda and James responded immediately with any questions or requests we had and to top it off are the nicest people we've ever met.
Do not hesitate to rent this property, you will not be disappointed.
Property is situated on the North Shore of Vancouver. Easy access to major Highway, Downtown, Whistler Mountain and a multitude of recreational attractions and playgrounds. Walk to Lonsdale Quay for fresh produce, baked goods, butcher and shopping. Six screen movie theatre a seven minute walk away. Just a few minutes walk to fabulous dining experiences.
