Blessed with magnificent natural beauty and located in the one most popular and desirable locations in the Western United States, Lake Tahoe is considered the jewel of California. At 6,229 feet above sea level, Lake Tahoe is the highest lake of its size in the United States, measuring 22 miles long by 12 miles wide, with an average depth of 989 feet and 72 miles of shoreline. Its clear blue waters surrounded by the towering Sierras are a sight to behold! Lake Tahoe is truly a treasure, hopefully to be visited by all at some point!
Nestled in the heart of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, Lake Tahoe is home to some of America’s favorite vacation and recreation locations. Enjoy world-famous beaches, hiking, biking trails, water sports, skiing, dining, shopping, and more! With so many activities to choose from, there is something to keep everyone in your group entertained! This newly remodeled and beautifully furnished home is a perfect getaway for summer or winter. The house, with 5 bedrooms, is spacious and spread out so that even with multiple families and several children it never feels cramped. The living room has a cozy fireplace and boasts stunning views overlooking open space and trails. It can be closed off from the family room where the kids can play table shuffleboard or watch TV. Step outside and you are on a trail perfect for running or walking and a new hot tub awaits you upon your return. In summer, you are conveniently located to Kings Beach and not much further is my favorite - Sand Harbor. In both Summer and Winter the best perk is the convenience to the Village at Northstar where a courtesy shuttle will drive you back and forth - great for teenagers so you don't have to drive them! If you don't feel like eating out, the kitchen has everything you need to prepare a meal after a fun day at the beach or skiing, and there is plenty of dining space for everyone. Every bedroom also has its own TV, so there will never be arguing over what channel to watch. Finally, I have to add that the bed I slept on was the most comfortable I have ever experienced. In fact, I asked the owners where they bought it so I could get one for my house at home! Overall a wonderful experience. You can't go wrong at Sierra Chateau!
We chose this home as a place to celebrate my daughter's 11th birthday. There were 13 of us total, myself, husband and three kids plus a friend, grandparents, uncles, aunts and cousins. Upon arrival we immediately noticed the heated floors on the first level. They were a wonderful touch and something we didn't expect since there was no mention of them in any descriptions nor reviews, but we certainly appreciated it! We couldn't figure out how to adjust their tenperature though, and only concluded that the thermostat for the heater was also controlling the floors. This home has a beautiful open meadow directly behind the house offering plenty of space for our kids to play in the snow without losing sight of them. The hot tub was perfect and the kids absolutely loved sitting there while the snow fell on them. One complaint though and something to consider for parents traveling with younger children staying in the home...We had four children stay in the bunk room, ages 11, 10, 9, and 6. They loved the sectional sofa and huge tv. The top bunks have no head board, so you'll have to prop pillows up to keep them from feeling like they're falling off of the bed. Also, the bunk room is clear across the house off of the kitchen. The nearest bedroom is very far away. It made the first night a bit uneasy for them being in a new house so far away from the rest of the family, since there are three floors and everyone else (besides my husband and I) were on floors two and three. Distance alone being a bit scary for the kiddos, two out of three nights there was a very loud screeching sound that was heard in the bunk room and on the third floor bedrooms. We believe it's the water heating system, but try telling that to a group of scared kids that think there's monsters above them! Needless to say, we didn't sleep all that well. It would have been nice to have been warned of the loud sounds if this was something that regularly occurred. My husband ended up sleeping in the bunk room with the kids to ease their fears. He heard the sound too, and he said it's very startling and sounds downright scary.
Overall, we loved the house and the decor. It was very clean with the exception of some beer cans and cigarette boxes left outside near the hot tub. The home itself was very clean. My parents thought there were too many stairs, but I looked at it as a good leg exercise opportunity! Something to keep in mind for people with bad knees or any physical limitations though.
This home, Sierra Chateau, is very beautiful. It came with so many extras, including kitchen basics such as spices, paper goods, etc. The back patio overlooks a huge meadow where we saw a few gopher snakes, a coyote and lots of adorable chipmunks. Right outside the door is the entrance to a great 4 1/2 mile hike. The only thing to consider is that there are a lot of stairs and anyone who might be disabled or even have a problem with stairs would not be comfortable int his house. Other than that, we would highly recommend the house and also the way we were treated by Tahoe Properties who manage this house. They were very responsive to our requests before and during our stay.
This amazing home is the perfect retreat for a family getaway. We stayed here with another family at the tail-end of ski season and really enjoyed all the amenities (gym, hot tub, and tennis court). The home is sprawling and spacious enough for everybody to spread out. It sits on a beautiful trail where you can spend your mornings sipping coffee overlooking the peaceful and serene outdoors. The convenience of getting to Northstar via the dial-a-shuttle was a huge bonus for us since we wanted to get our kids to ski school each day. You won't be disappointed with Sierra Chateau at Northstar - it's luxury at it's best!
