We bought this cabin for a place in which our kids could have fun on the lake during summers and school breaks.
Deb Hendricks purchased this cabin in 2008
Our cabin is constructed of cedar, which gives a rustic, wonderful, warm, cozy, cabin feel. Closest to Whitman Hollow Marina.
Can sleep 4 adults and 8-10 children comfortably, 3 shower/bathrooms. Nestled in the quaint town of LaFollette, TN. Closest Marina is Whitman Hollow- 8 miles by road.
We only rent to families...
Loved the property. My family had a great time. The dock area was great and we spent more time by it and sitting on the balcony than we did anywhere else.
There is an additional family room with a TV that isn't pictured which was a nice surprise.
Smooth skiing water in the morning and evening can be found right beside the dock. During the middle of the day great water is 5 minutes away. Just head north of Whitman Hollow Marina.
The walk down to the dock is very "natural" and be prepared if it rains for the trail to be extremely slick. It is as advertised and shouldn't come a surprise to anyone. There are rocks embedded in the trail which act as "steps" and a rope strung between posts for something to hold onto.
The driveway should not be attempted in a 2wd. You will not get out. I was able to back my trailer down the hill and park it next to the house but I would not recommend anyone trying that unless you are extremely proficient backing a trailer. I slid more than rolled down the hill. Coming up in 4wd, even with the trailer, was effortless so plan ahead. My truck showed the driveway at a 16 degree grade! This is typical of nearly every driveway in the entire area so it should not be counted against the property.
Overall, great place to spend a week. Many marinas were within easy reach for fuel, food, ice, etc. Every marina, that we went to, had 92 octane (non ethanol) and was about $1.00 more per gallon than was available in the town.
Thanks for sharing your property with us, we will be back.
We loved staying in the Hendricks vacation home, it was wonderful. The house is really nice complete with a surround sound stereo and a temperpedic mattress in the master bedroom. The water pressure was great in the showers and we didn't even miss having cable because there were a lot of movies to watch and games to play. It was also great having a dock we could just walk down to to get to our boat.
The cottage was clean, open and had plenty of bathrooms. We had an unforeseen drain issue and Debbie had someone out and it was fixed before we got back in from the lake that day. As the post mentions the driveway is steep and during our stay we had a good amount of rain so cars did have some trouble, but were able to traverse the hill in reverse. All in all it was a great place to spend a long weekend and will try to make this a yearly trip.
