Grand Haven Cottage Rental Photos and Description

4 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom With Lake Michigan Views

The Rest-A-While cottage is located just steps from one of the best beaches in the United States. We are located in a cozy hollow that is very quiet and relaxed. Parking for four vehicles is included. There are wooded trails for walking just behind the cottage that are full of wildlife. We have mixed nice new quilts and old iron beds to give the four bedrooms a classic cottage feel. One of the bedrooms has a bunk bed that children or adults will enjoy. There are two baths, one up with a wonderful old tub, and another brand new one, that was recently added, with a shower. We have a fully functional cottage style kitchen with new flooring and newer appliances. There is a table with an umbrella located on the deck so you can enjoy eating outside while you take in the view of Lake Michigan. Children and adults will love the outside fire pit for roasting hot dogs and marshmallows. The sunset views from the enclosed lower porch and the upper deck are beautiful. The "Rest-a-While" is a Classic, Cozy and Comfortable place to come to rest, and enjoy all the wonderful activities available to do in Grand Haven and all the surrounding areas.

About The Kuiper Family

Our parents, Harold and Joyce, bought the Rest-A While Cottage over fifty years ago . It was built by a doctor who lived in Chicago. Dad and mom were having coffee at their relatives cottage just across the walk when they saw a for sale sign and the rest was history. They never dreamed what a joy it would be for themselves, their children, their grandchildren and now their twelve great grandchildren.

The Kuiper Family purchased this cottage in 1965

Why The Kuiper Family chose West Central

The location of our cottage and the cottage itself is what makes this place so special to our family. We have been able to keep some of the old treasures that were originally in the cottage and we also brought in some new and fresh nautical accents to make the cottage even more enjoyable and comfortable. There is plenty of room in the cottage itself to enjoy and lots of area to explore all around the cottage. The board walks up in the hills , the ride on the trolley to and from town, the walk on the trail through the woods directly behind the cottage, the unique shops and places to eat, and of course the amazing beach on Lake Michigan are all a part of what makes this our favorite spot. We believe once you experience the "Rest a While" cottage you will agree with us that once the door is open it just begs you to come on in and rest a while.

What makes this cottage unique

"Rest a While" cottage has four bedrooms with lots of beautiful quilts, fresh sheets and towels all included. One of the bedrooms has a recently added bunk bed. It has a brand new bathroom with a shower on the main floor with another full bathroom upstairs. Also included are cable TV, parking for 4 cars, wonderful hiking trails right out the back door and very interesting places to walk on the boardwalks. It has newer appliances in the fully equipped cottage style kitchen and many recent updates as well as a fire pit outside available for roasting marshmallows and hot dogs or just sitting by the fire. It offers a quiet place to come apart and "Rest a While" or if you prefer you are just a few steps from all the amazing activities the city of Grand Haven and the Grand Haven State Park has to offer.

Wonderful Cottage Experience

  • 4 of 5

The owners were very prompt in getting back to us with our questions and concerns. We knew exactly what to expect after speaking with them. The location was very good: a short walk to the beach, the pier and town. Although the cottage is in need of some maintenance, the cleanliness of the interior was outstanding! All rooms were very clean and cared for down to the refrigerator, appliances and bathrooms. The beds were comfortable. It had a relaxing "beach cottage" feel, the layout was terrific and the kitchen easy to cook in. The yard was great for games and lounging. We appreciated that they left us basic bath and kitchen supplies to get started and a full propane tank for the outdoor grill. We enjoyed the view of the water from master bedroom and the upstairs deck. This is a cottage that is loved by the owners and it shows! We had a great week there with our family.
