Pas à la hauteur du prix, 3 chambres et pas 4 !

  • 1 of 5

Owner's Response: I am sorry you did not have a good time in the house. I would like to comment on certain things you have said. 1. The beaches are certainly not so far as you have mentioned, Otzia beach is only a five to 7 minute drive from the house, where there are two restaurants. Spathi beach (dirt road)is a 15 minute drive from the house. The furthest beach is at Koundouros, which is a 35 minute drive. 2. Restaurants and shops are at the town of Ioulis, which is a 10 minute drive from the house, Otzia (7 minutes by car) has 2 restaurants, Vourkari (12 minutes by car) has 7 restaurants and some bars and cafes as well as a mini market. There are supermarkets at Ioulis and at the port (15 minutes) 3. You mention that the pool boy and the cleaning staff where a bit late. They came to the house on the dates and times we had agreed on give or take 30 minutes. We cannot specify the exact time they would come as they have many houses that they clean. 4. You mention privacy, in the pictures you can see that there is another property to the left, the house is in a small complex. 5. Again about privacy and the cleaning people, you kept asking me the exact time they would come, what you did not tell me was that you wanted privacy as you wanted nudity. If I had known this, I would have suggested something far away from other people. This is a family island and people are not used to nudity. 6. As for the shutter being broken, it has already been fixed. 7. The pool leaving blue paint on your feet. Sorry for that, the pool was painted 2 years ago. sometimes there is a residue of paint on the walls due to the reaction with the chemicals. It is not dangerous and does not go into the water. The pool has been emptied and will be re-painted in spring. 8. You mentioned that it was rude of us explaining everything to you on your arrival. We do this with all the houses, as some things are very important, like not drinking the water and not throwing paper or anything else in the toilets, as this can cause huge problems and the cost can be over 800 euro to correct the damage to the sewage tanks, as we have to bring trucks from Athens. 9. As for the 4th bedroom, it mentions that it is a very small room, without a window and suitable for a child. If you had explained the reason you wanted privacy was so that you could not be seen by others, I would have found you something else. It is sad that you gave such a review, as we have had very good reviews before and no complaints.

Kea was once called the Water Island, Ydroussa, and it is believed that the name is connected to the water nymph that lived in Kea

according to mythology. Being such a pretty island the gods got jealous and sent a lion to ravage the land. The nymphs fled

and as a consequence the island dried out. The Keans then asked Apollo's son Aristaeus for help and he built a temple to Zeus,

who apart from being the highest god, also was the one who sent rain. This pleased him and the nymphs and waters returned, giving

Kea a fertile soil with good crops.

The island has been inhabited since Neolithic times. In the 13th century, the island was ruled by the Venetians and 300 years later

by the Turks. Meanwhile, Kea was often raided by pirates and the locals suffered greatly. It is therefore not surprising that Kea was

one of the first Greek islands to enroll in the War of Independence in 1821.

Vourkari: The little harbor of Vourkari is a 10 minute drive from the house and a delightful place popular with the yachting crowd.

Although there is no beach in Vourkari itself, the lovely sandy beach at Gialiskari with its recommended beach taverna. Vourkari has quite a busy nightlife and there are several good fish restaurants and a couple of trendy bars. There is also a mini-market, a couple of arts and crafts shops and some boutiques.

Otzias Bay is only a 15 minute drive from the house (there is a local bus service) and the pretty island capital Ioulis is a 15 minutes drive up the mountain (there is a local bus service). The Bay of Otzia has a long sandy beach with a lagoon section that makes it ideal swimming for families with small children. The organized beaches of Spathi and Koundouraki, are ideal for those that like water sports. There is also a scuba diving school with experienced divers that can take you around the island to see some of the ship wrecks.

Unlike other Islands, Kea remains a quaint, low profile, rugged island, with few tourists and an abundance of pristine beaches, beautiful blue-green waters and ancient cobblestone marked foot-paths, bird-watching nature reserves, few hotels and mostly privately owned houses.

Seasonally or permanently, to relax and enjoy, Kea boasts known names of the Greek and international jet-set in business, law, science, and art, as it appeals to the discerning visitor who seeks tranquillity, authenticity and a genuinely Aegean environment.
