About the property

1 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom, 2 Sleeps

Located one block from Main Street this charming cottage is located in Summerville's historic district. The rate is $100 per night, lowered from $125/night because we no longer can offer access to our pool as an amenity. There is a SEPARATE $50 CLEANING FEE which we ask guests to leave in the cottage in cash. A list of the duties performed by the cleaning service can be found in the cottage along with a list of what we ask of tenants to tend to before they leave.

The location is perfect, as it's only a short walk to restaurants, shops, the art museum, world renown quilt store - 'People, Places, and Quilts', and other establishments. The area is private and safe. The cottage is in the back yard of a Victorian home built in 1890. Summerville is a lovely historic southern located town near Charleston.

The cottage features one bedroom with queen size bed; one full bathroom; kitchen/living area, sunporch, skylight, and small garden area in the front. Decorated with antique furniture and art work, the atmosphere is cozy and homey. The kitchenette features a two-burner cooktop stove, a toaster oven, coffee maker, other small appliances, and full size refrigerator. There is a 'living edge' cedar countertop, made from cedar milled on another of our properties. The living room is light and airy with a skylight and sunporch. There is a dining table on the sunporch so you can enjoy the view of the pool while you eat. There are living plants here and there in the house. The bathroom is large with handicapped hand railings, etc. The bedroom is furnished with one queen size bed, a chest of drawers, large closet, and chairs. All linens are provided. There are blankets and comforters for winter months.

For your convenience, there is a stack washer and dryer in the linen closet.

Summerville is located about twenty-five miles west of Charleston. Highway 61, that connects Summerville and Charleston is the location of several historic plantations/gardens. Summerville is a historic town in its own right, having been the summer place for early plantation owners who wished to escape the miasma of the low country rivers and swamps. The town was settled in the late 1700's and is home to many beautiful historic homes and buildings. The annual Flowertown Festival attracts 200,000 people annual when the azaleas are in full bloom.

Enjoy a peaceful weekend in Summerville! Or, if you are visiting relatives or friends at Charleston Southern University, the location is perfect.

The cottage features OVER AIR TV (about 20 channels) along with ROKU for Netflix, etc. and WiFi. Bring your own laptop. There is also a DVD player so bring your favorite movies.

Please note, and we do not mean to be inhospitable, but we only rent to a maximum of two occupants and we do not accept pets under any circumstances. Also, a $50.00 cleaning fee is charged which must be left on the kitchen counter upon departure. Check-in is 3:00 p.m. Check-out is 11:00 a.m.

Our son-in-law, Scott, answers all emails and makes reservations. He will be happy to help you!

Very cozy and clean.

  • 5 of 5

Very cozy and clean. We were 1 block away from the historic town. Great stores and restaurants. Nice bike/walking path right near us. The owners were very friendly and helpful. The only downside was the noise from the trains and planes going by constantly but I would not hesitate going back again.

The property was clean, cozy and comfortable. Located a block or from the vibrant Summerville downtown, it was so easy to grab a bite or shop. Will definitely stay here again.
