Frio Country Resorts

About: Frio Country was started in 1981 by Kenneth and Barbara Arthur. They fell in love with the Texas Hill Country Town of ConCan and had a dream of building their life there. (As a teen, Kenneth led the horse back rides at Neal’s & knew this is where he wanted to be). Frio Country started with a small country store, RV & tent sites dotted along crystal clear Frio River, and a dirt road. The Arthur’s wanted everyone to share their love of ConCan and this little piece of heaven, so they created a small family owned resort. Every customer who walked in the door was treated like family. For over 40 years Kenneth & Barbara kept this family tradition going, catering to the many repeat customers and added The House Pasture Cattle Company & The Club at ConCan to their little resort. (As ConCan’s popularity grew, so did the need for “more things to do”.) They spent hours on the dance floor at HP dancing to Gary P Nunn, throwing fun parties, and doing what they did best; entertaining their friends, family and customers. They loved watching people love ConCan. Unfortunately in 2010, Kenneth Arthur passed away after a hard fought battle with cancer. After his passing, Barbara decided to take a much needed extended vacation and sold Frio Country Resort to her daughter Casey Arthur Whatley and long time family friend Patti VanPelt. As of today, we still value the traditions and stand firm on what Frio Country was built on. Our customers remain family and we strive to make sure every vacation is a memory of a lifetime! Currently, Frio Country can house over 1000 guests spread out through the canyons and riverfront and still maintain that small town family vibe.
