TAMARACK LAKE ESTATE is really more like a resort than a house. You get so much provided for your vacation. Imagine the enjoyment of having the best of both worlds -- sandy beaches of Cape Cod Bay and sparkling clear waters of a spring-fed 376-acre glacier formed lake, right at the top end of Cape Cod. (One guest described it as a Lake Tahoe/Cape Cod vacation.) In this amazing spot, you'll have privacy, recreation, and comfort in a setting graced with sparkling waters, towering pines, brick paths and patios, decks, private sandy beach, dock, and boathouse -- even before you encounter the incomparable home itself. The home is luxurious, spacious, and thoughtfully appointed with a comfortable but upscale decor. And the home is VERY well provisioned, with nice linens, fine appliances, quality cookware, spices, condiments, baking needs, soaps, paper goods, laundry supplies, wireless Internet, digital cable TV, kayaks, canoe, swim platform, dock, boathouse, water toys, life jackets. Enjoy the private waterfront beach and fire pit, barbeque patio, picnic area. From our June 2017 guests "OMG THIS PLACE IS AWESOME !! "

Tamarack has a beautiful gathering room, tastefully decorated in restrained Nantucket style, a place to converse or watch TV. From here, enter the sleek mini-kitchen outside the Great Room. Added to the house in the '90s, the Great Room has a 22-foot stone fireplace, a sit-upon hearth, plank floors, soaring ceilings, and an expansive glazed-brick veranda where Adirondack chairs line up to take in the water view. This magnificent room is divided into areas: a banquet table, a writing area, two sitting areas with off-white couches, a British West Indies armoire housing the TV, and 1830s mahogany horseshoe counter for laying out a buffet, or locating your laptops (*WiFi throughout).
With its towering stone fireplace, the Great Room so large it is several rooms and living areas (dining, horseshoe-shaped laptop bar, conversation areas, living room, plus brick Adirondack deck overlooking the lake). Ship stairs lead to a carpeted small loft overlooking the gigantic room. A wall of sliders opens to the large brick patio, offering a flow and ease of indoor-outdoor living, with mature estate plantings and towering pines.
The delightful and well equipped main kitchen has a vaulted beamed ceiling with six skylights and task lighting. Wood floors and top quality appliances make this 2-sink, 2-dishwasher, 3-oven, bountifully-stocked kitchen a place to spend time. The chefs will appreciate our Thermador ProHarmony gourmet gas range with Faber pro hood, Miele MasterChef double convection oven, Sub Zero glass door refrigerator. Miele and Bosch dishwashers make cleaning-up painless. We supply a classic Kitchen Aid stand mixer, Cuisinart food processor, stick blender, hand mixer, Keurig coffeemaker (2) plus drip coffeemaker, French Press and Pour-over (Melitta) coffee carafe and funnel and filters. Step out the French doors into the sunny courtyard to visit the brick barbeque patio with its Weber gas grill plus Weber Kettle charcoal grill and stress-removing lake view.
The bedrooms are pleasant and thoughtfully decorated. Master queen bedroom queen luxury bath. First floor bedroom queen (Tudor tester bed) with adjacent new shower bathroom (very accessible for those more accessibility.) Lakefront rooms with 2 double beds. King lakefront bedroom has extra twin bed in room. Loft over part of Great Room has twin mattress and cots.
Tamarack has a private boat dock with jet ski ramp, a sandy beach, a boathouse with all-glass boathouse doors, with the lake lapping at the edge of the boathouse -- an exciting location in itself. Kayaks, a canoe, floats, and water toys are supplied.
For those considering accessibility in case a dear one isn't as mobile as in the past, most of the home's features are at-grade. The slope down to the water is an easy stroll and there is a secondary driveway down by the dock that enables access by car.
The circular driveway allows multiple vehicles to navigate through the park-like setting, and there is space for an event tent and caterers' vans. (On a case-by-case basis, we will consider very small weddings. Most neighbors aren't keen on weddings as sound is amplified by the lake and conversations 200 feet away can be heard, which is surprising.)
6 night bookings $6850 including 13% tax. Final cleaning fee $345, theoretically refundable. Please check back for room and capacity changes. 13 night rentals $12,500 for up to 10 guests.

To me, creating the perfect waterfront getaway home is an art. My lifelong career had been in designing publications, and later creating magazine illustrations and painting expressionistic works on canvas. When I first decided to rent my weekend home so I could renovate an incredible but forlorn cottage (which became, at great expense, Oceanfront 'Timberframe Cottage') I did not know this would become my work and my passion. Working in 2-D was fun and rewarding, but my new art is creating 3-D vacation homes that themselves are 'works of art.' My goal with my homes, as with my art before, is to create an environment that stimulates positive feelings of welcome, care and love. Your enjoyment and appreciation, In turn, allows me continue my art form a few more years. Please read the guest comments to see the generous and enthusiastic compliments we've received. After spending years designing news content into compelling page designs, translating dense manuscripts into lively high-tech illustrations, it is frankly a joy applying my vision to this tangible world of welcoming living spaces for our wonderful guests. Please look at 'all my rental listings' to see my little portfolio of unique and extravagant vacation getaways, only manageable because I stay in this tight 15 mile Eden from historic downtown Plymouth to beautiful Sagamore Beach. It is a labor of love... for you.
Why robin chose Cedarville
We never considered Tamarack Lake Estate as a vacation home when we purchased it. The then-current owners had a special needs child for whom they needed to build a custom-designed home for his future, and they asked us if we would consider buying Tamarack. The house needed a lot of work, but the grounds were spectacular. The mature conifer gardens, the park-like setting, acres of lawn and trees, incredible views and sparkling sunsets over the 'pond.' It took us three years of living in Tamarack Lake Estate to figure out how to fix what needed fixing, and making sense of its rambling and disjointed floor plan. Alas, we had to live through the construction, which is never fun. But now, all its original positive qualities shine. It is a really incredible home (now) and we are awed by the beauty and tranquility of the place.
What makes this Estate unique
The kitchen is a destination in itself. But then there is the Great Room, which is as big as some peoples' entire homes. And there is the private beach, the boathouse, the dock with jet-ski ramp, a swim platform in the lake, brick bbq patio overlooking the water, sunset deck, redwood patio across main house (lakefront) and brick great room patio with its row of adirondaks lined up to take in the view. It is like getting an entire resort at the price of a summer home. Sailboat rental, please ask.

Beautiful lake front home with great views
Great home on quiet lake front property and easy access to Cedarville, the Cape and Plymouth. The home has many great amenities with a gourmet kitchen and butlers pantry that serves as a bar for entertaining. We rented the home for a family gathering for six adults and hosted additonal family members for dinner one evening. There is a multitude of serving dishes and glasses to host dinner, comfortable dining area and kitchen and a great room for gathering. The deck area has great views of the beach with relaxing furniture. There is a small beach area by the lake for gathering. The owner contacted us to ensure we had everything and was accessable for any assistance we needed. This made for a memorable family reunion. We would definitely rent this property again.
Why is it that the guests for whom you do something above-and-beyond turn around and thank you with a disheartening 4-star review? Don't travelers realize that a 4-star review is not a flattering review? Consider that we allowed this group to invite extra people to the house -- at no extra charge -- and have a clam bake. After their stay, we gave them a 5-star guest review, because that is the polite thing to do. They have mentioned 100% positive things about the home as well as our attending to their needs, and even say they want to stay at Tamarack Lake Estate again in the future. Where did that other star go? We try to offer all our guests a 5 star experience and work very hard (and spend great sums) providing for the comfort of our guests. We would like to know what MORE we could do, because we very much value our 100% FIVE STAR REVIEWS, and hate having our rating knocked down for any reason, especially when all the comments are positive. Thanks, I guess, for being somewhat-appreciative guests.
Summer of 2017
A wonderful lake property with private beach. Glorious sunsets over the lake facing the property's expansive back deck and view. Several kayaks, a canoe, and sunfish are available for use on the 3-mile long lake. The private beach includes floating docks, a raft, and a small location for evening bon fires and s'mores! The home's interior amenities are second to none with a large, well-appointed kitchen, a large cathedral-ceilinged great room for games and relaxation, and 5 bedrooms to accommodate large families. Owners quickly reacted whenever issues came up, and were very easy to deal with. I would highly recommend this property to large families looking for a place to both relax and to enjoy a full range of lake activities.
We are so glad you enjoyed Tamarack Lake Estate. It was a pleasure to share our home with your family. Sailboat is available if booked in advance for an extra charge. Large families welcome up to 5 couples+4 children (or 4 couples +6 children, for example.) Larger crowds need more than 5 bedrooms and 3.5 baths.
Amazing Rental Property
Tamarack Lake Estate is a fantastic place to spend a week with a large group. The location is stellar, the house is beautiful and extremely well equipped, and the privacy is perfect. We stayed here with extended family after my son's wedding. We could not have had a better week with a multi-generational group. The facilities were excellent: a quiet terrace for the oldies, kayaks and private beach for the youngsters, and a great patio for bringing the group together to welcome the evening in. A definite gold star rating for this rental!
John from Arizona
I can't say enough positive things about this property. We were a large group of 16 people: 13 adults, one of whom was disabled, and 3 small children. We ranged in age from 70 down to 1.5 yrs.
This property is incredible and the furnishings and appointments of both the grounds and home exceeded our expectations. This was my first experience with VRBO and I was apprehensive about a sight-unseen rental but my concerns vanished the moment we stepped into the house--WOW!!!
The property and appointments reflect a care and thoughtfulness that are apparent throughout the house and grounds. I enjoy cooking and all I can say about the kitchen is BRAVO!!!-BRAVO!!!-BRAVO!!!. My friend from Germany commented that if he and his wife ever build another house the kitchen will be just like this. The only problem we had was trying to remember where everything went after we used it.😀 We really enjoyed gathering in the kitchen and chatting amongst ourselves as we prepared the various meals. My favorite was an evening meal with a light rain falling outside. We had opened the French doors and had soft music playing in the background. The cooking aromas, the wines, the quiet murmurs of conversation punctuated by laughter and the enjoyment of our common friendship made it a special memory for me
The Great Room was an added bonus for our "family gatherings and meals." 16 people all sitting at 1 table and enjoying the company of one another is a memory I'll always cherish. As a humorous aside, the butler pantry adjoins the Great Room and we decided to move the toaster from the kitchen to the pantry to facilitate the breakfast flow in the morning. Until we got the toaster settings dialed in we managed to set the smoke-alarm off several times and got to witness 3 small kids running for the doors as they evacuated the house. Thankfully it wasn't wired in to the local fire department or we would have been on a first-name basis with all the firefighters within a few days.
We had a couple of very minor issues that were immediately addressed but they in way impacted our enjoyment of this stunning property. Robin has done an exceptional job with this property and conducts her business with the highest professional standards. I would recommend this property to anyone and hope that we'll be able to come back someday.
What a beautiful home. Perfect for our ladies getaway. Nothing like enjoying a cup of coffee out on the porch overlooking the lake in the morning. Cozy and comfy rooms, outstanding kitchen, and spacious meeting areas and enough bathrooms to accommodate our group. Loved the great room! Would love to come back again some day with the family. Definitely would recommend!! Thanks again Robin for a wonderful stay!
Our Spring Trip
What a lovely, peaceful, picturesque location. Every room is so tastefully decorated and inviting. The home was way to big for us, only my husband, myself and our little fur baby Bodie Boy but what a wonderful time we had. The bed was super comfortable and we all slept like logs. My husband decided to throw his line in the water off the dock one afternoon and wouldn't you know he caught a huge perch! If it was warmer out we would have ventured out on the lake to do some fishing. Great location, away from busy roads but yet close to shopping, historical sites and places to eat. Would love to come back one day, thanks so much Robin!
The location is ideal. Situated at the top of Cape Cod, just north of Sandwich before you cross the Cape Cod canal, you have the advantage of staying out of the traffic backups, and being on vacation while others are parked on the highway. Sandwich is 2 miles to the south, and Plymouth center is 15 miles to the north. Plymouth Rock, the Mayflower, and the incredible Plymouth Plantation (which is like a trip in a time machine) are appealing destinations. Charming Sandwich is also two miles away and has a Glass Museum and Heritage Plantation and a fine antiques auction on alternate Saturdays. The area has many fine golf courses, antique shops, and historic homes -- some of which date to the 1600s. The Cape Cod Canal offers great biking paths. A 30-minute drive away are the ferries to Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket, and 50 minutes to the mansions of Newport. Other Activities: Cape Cod Bike Path is very close, and FUN! Golf galore. Golf: (Actually, while there are great golf courses nearby -- at Pinehills, White Cliffs, and throughout the Plymouth and Cape Cod areas, we thought we should give you more details on the house. We can provide more information for golfers should they inquire:) The master bedroom has a lake view, a queen-sized bed, a graceful soaking tub, tile shower, and wood-counter vanity with vessel sink and Grohe faucet. The middle bedroom has lake view, 2 full-sized beds with antique cannonball headboards. The 3rd bedroom has a lake view, 4 twin beds. The 4th bedroom is courtyard side and features two single beds. The main floor bedroom (just off the Gathering Room and mini-kitchen/wet bar) has a queen bed and adjacent bathroom (grab bar installed in tub wall) and is perfect if you have an older family member in your vacation party. And there is more. Tamarack has a private boat dock with jet ski ramp, a sandy beach, a boathouse with a bunk-bed and all-glass boathouse doors, with the lake lapping at the edge of the boathouse -- a breezy shady place to sit a spell. Plus, for those considering accessibility, most of the home's features are at-grade. The slope down to the water is an easy stroll, and there is a secondary driveway down by the dock that enables access by car should there be a special family member with particular needs. The circular driveway allows multiple vehicles to navigate through the park-like setting. Lakefront property sometimes has a sound amplification effect from the hillside and lake making it easier for neighbors and guests to hear one another. As this is a residential neighborhood with year round neighbors, we ask that our guests be courteous and aware of how sound travels. We do not allow children to scream unless they are in danger ("a scream should be followed by "HELP!") and we honor a quiet time after sundown so that all my enjoy this tranquil and beautiful environment, For those that want to make more noise, please check out our OCEANFRONT properties where sound travels out to SEA.
