A recently refurbished peaceful estate in a beautiful garden setting on an acre in the exclusive Seahaven neighborhood of Inverness near Shell Beach. The old-growth landscaping is magical, and has been included on the Inverness Garden Club tour. On the property is a two bedroom (with queen beds) and one full-bath Main Home that sleeps four, a Cottage with full bathroom that sleeps four (one room with a queen bed and one room with a twin trundle bed), a writers studio with bunk beds for two, and a one bedroom apartment with full bathroom, kitchen and living room that can sleep four (one queen bed and one pull-out couch).
You are required to rent the Main Home, and can rent the Cottage, Writers Studio and Apartment if available too. We rent the Apartment separately as it has a private entrance and grounds so that is not always available. If you rent the Main Home then the Cottage and Writers Studio will be used by your group alone, and you will have undisturbed access to the grounds.
$800/night for entire property, $240 cleaning.
$575/night for Main Home, Cottage and Writers Studio, $160 cleaning.
Some information on bed configurations:
Main Home (sleeps four) - two private bedrooms with queen beds
Cottage (sleeps four) - two rooms separated by a curtain, one room with queen bed and one with a trundle bed that has two twin beds in it
Apartment (sleeps three) - the bedroom area with queen bed is separated but without a door so there is not complete privacy between the bedroom area and the living room which has a pull-out couch that sleeps one person.
Writers Studio (sleeps two) -there are bunk beds, one is a double and one is a twin
We are a happy family people splitting our time between San Francisco and Inverness. We like to have like minded people enjoying the property to its fullest.
Belinda Meadows purchased this estate in 2014
This home will ultimately become our full time home. Until then, we are happy to share it with you. Inverness has always been a magical place for us, reminding us of Scotland where my husband is from. We have started a family now and this property is perfect for kids, fenced in with a play structure and play house. We look forward to building a family here, like the previous owners did.
There are multiple structures on the property so the property can cater to different groups. There is a gorgeous Main Home, a Cottage, a Writers Studio and Apartment. This year we will be hosting a friends wedding here, the garden is so gorgeous and the property lends itself to large groups.
Walk to Shell Beach and Tomales Bay State Park from your front door. Located at the gateway to the Point Reyes National Seashore, we are only minutes from restaurants serving extraordinary locally sourced organic meats, produce, and seafood.
Walking, hiking, kayaking, and biking are all encouraged and enjoyed by visitors; a car is useful to travel to nearby shops, restaurants and libraries. Cars can be parked in driveway and bikes stored in garage.
You will fall in love with the garden immediately, so much life and areas to explore. There are birds flying, pecking and roaming. Huge hawks swooping. Amazing old trees talking to you. Apples, pears and lemons to eat in the summer, just pick them off the trees. This is such a sunny valley, always hotter than the coast, but so green due tot he natural well on the property. We spend so much time on the huge deck basking, talking, reflecting, being.
The kitchen is great for cooking, all there is that you need including a six burner stove. The BBQ is always an option too.
What is also great is that there are multiple structures on the property, so everyone has room to themselves for a bit of peace. Or you can pack the kids into one area and let them be.
Oh, and don't forget the hot tub after a long day of hiking and exploring.
Guests will be provided as much or little interaction as desired. Hosts will be available throughout stay to offer directions, tips, and local advice.
Thank you Maddie for making this the most perfect anniversary treat and sharing your new home. Every year we take off for our anniversary with our kids and friends and this was the third year in Inverness and by far the best place we stayed. All the touches were appreciated by us-the new towels and linens. The light is fantastic and we enjoyed being able to pick our herbs from the garden – silly I know but us city folks miss such things. It is clear that you put so much love into refurnishing the place and we did our best to keep it perfect…………… which with 5 kids in the group was not easy. My youngest asked me today “who will play on the play-house when I am not there?” – so cute. Of course I told him that it would be waiting for him for next year.
First time in Inverness and Point Reyes Station. Hiking, horses, elk watching, wine tasting, eating and more hiking. Next time we plan to stay longer so we can have more downtime at the house, too many busy bodies in our group just to relax.
Thank you so much for hosting us. The property was exactly as described but even more gorgeous in real life. The gardens and views were spectacular and it was 70 degrees in February! We spent a lot of time at the home instead of partaking in all the activities in the area - it was just so magical. It was very nice to be able to let the kids run free as the property is fully fenced - they explored and played in the playhouse and on the swings. We ate many meals on the deck on the huge table and enjoyed the brand new deck furniture just put in. We look forward to booking again next year for our family gathering. Wish we were still there!
Inverness is just a few miles from Point Reyes, near the coastline on the west coast 1.25 hours north of San Francisco. The area is mainly Federal land, protected from development. There are a plethora of National and State parks, great for walking or getting into nature. Point Reyes Station is a famous landmark.
In Inverness and Point Reyes there are choices of restaurants, bars (an old saloon), a few grocery stores, a butcher, coffee places, a couple of art galleries etc.
The area is full of small towns to explore each with their own charm. There are wineries in driving distance, a popular choice for the traveller. And so many oyster eating options too.
Naturists will enjoy the elk farm, bird watching, spending time on the water and more.
