A Great Place for A Family Reunion!

  • 5 of 5

We rented this property from July 2-9, 2016 as a place to gather our entire family together to celebrate our 50th anniversary. We couldn't have been happier with this decision. We had 14 people in our group, both adults and children, and the house could have handled many more. The home is a feast for the eyes, inside and out, both decorated beautifully and situated in a prime location with a 180-degree view of the valley and distant mountains. (I loved watching the sun rise every morning!) The owners have planned their home for families, providing plenty of activities for children, both young and teenagers. Our kids had a ball. I especially loved the large, well-stocked kitchen, with THREE sinks and THREE garbage disposals and TWO dishwashers. Everyone loved gathering at the spa or sitting around the campfire roasting marshmallows in the evening. The owners contacted us several times during the week to make sure everything was to our satisfaction. It was, obviously. As I said, we couldn't have been more satisfied with this venue.

The most gorgeous home on the hill!

  • 5 of 5

We just completed our 4-day family retreat and it couldn't have been a more wholesome experience. Everything from my communications with Mark since the time of booking until the last minute spent in this beautiful home has been nothing short of amazing!

The home itself is a masterpiece - from the unique antique wood to the small character details throughout, it's built to host the perfect family gathering with rooms on each floor to accommodate various accessibility levels and safe enough for guests of all ages. We truly enjoyed the open layout for the kitchen, which allowed us to cook together and share our stories after a day at the slopes and the dining table was large enough to accommodate all of us and allow us to sit together. Mark's cabinets are fully stocked with nice dinner plates and utensils, which made us feel completely as home vs the paper plates that are often provided in rentals.

We went to Squaw/Alpine for half of our stay and Sugarbowl the rest, and the home was conveniently located for both. It was also great to be able to pick up any extra supplies on the way home, as there are grocery stores at the base of the hill. Mark is an amazing host and probably the friendliest and most helpful I've ever encountered in my years of renting vacation homes. He gave us great advice on local restaurants, things to do, and even recommendations for hikes depending on the group's needs. He is very kind and welcoming, which made us feel very honored to stay in his home, where we were able to appreciate it and care for it as our own. Would love to come back in the summer, so we can enjoy the amazing views while telling stories around the fire pit!

Amazing place!

  • 5 of 5

This place has it all and has the most amazing view. They thought of everything when they built this place. It fit 4 families very comfortably although you could fit more. There are quite a few extra mattresses and pull outs. The kids loved all the ping pong/pool/air hockey table and the foosball table. Tahoe Donner is across the street but the kids (and dads) had just as much fun sledding and boarding next to the house and the huge spa was perfect after a long day in the snow. Mark is an awesome host. We lost power for a few hours and Mark called the power company immediately to find out when it might be back on for us. We had one other issue and his handyman was over right away to fix it. We will definitely be back!

One of the most beautiful mountain homes you will ever visit!

  • 5 of 5

The house is quite as impressive as it looks...400 year old french barn reclaimed wood floors, gourmet kitchen, luxurious bedrooms and living spaces with all the amenities, including a pool table and foosball. Simply put, this house is amazing.

The grounds the house sits on showcase mountain ranges and partial views of lakes and vista that goes on for miles and miles. One can see the camelback of Squaw Valley ski resort mountain, the slopes of Northwood tumbling down the mountain's side to inspire you, and the kitchen has a helpful plack that reads "Go jump in the Lake" if you need a reminder to get out of the beautiful house and enjoy nature's perfection that is Lake Tahoe.

Additional features include membership to private areas of the neighborhood community association including a Donner Lake beach area just for you, and a gym and pub at the base of the road to the house.

The one major asset not listed is the home owner, who could only be more helpful if he were a demi-god. He helped us in so many ways, and was so cheerful and easy to work with, we simply can't say enough positive things about Mark.
