Thank you for visiting the Ava Haus B & B listings. I have had the pleasure of owning and operating Ava Haus since 2011 and truly have enjoyed every moment. As a mother of four girls and a previous school superintendent, owning a B and B has been a breath of fresh air for me; thus the name Ava Haus: breath of life.
When looking for property to purchase, I immediately fell in love with the grounds and the comfortable feel of the property. Ava Haus represented the authentic heritage of what has been so lovingly preserved in the city of Fredericksburg. Also, the location was perfect for me. It was away from the center of town yet close enough to be in Fredericksburg in less than five minutes.
Ava Haus allows guests to enjoy the benefits of the country and still be minutes from wineries, shopping, restaurants and the natural parks of the area. Guests can have a true feel for the history of the region when they stay in an authentic German homestead complete with the original well, thick limestone walls and even the original root cellar where the pioneers stayed during times of danger. At Ava Haus we welcome your entire family to include children and pets.
We enjoyed pur stay. The bed was nice and cozy and the vottage was perfect. We will visit again.
We stayed in the small cottage. It was a very short drive outside of town, on highway 290. Easy access to downtown from there. The owners thoughtfully provided us some goodies for our stay - OJ, a pastry, coffee - which was a nice touch. I'd stay there again! The only thing to keep in mind is that the proximity to the highway means you get some traffic noise during the day. It does diminish quite a bit at night though.
My Mom stayed in the cottage & said it was absolutely wonderful. My son said it was the perfect cottage for a Grandma! We have already talked about our next visit and will definitely stay at Ava Haus again!
The cottage was so adorable and just perfect for the two of us and our dog. The ONLY thing I didn't enjoy was the tree branches on the roof. Made it a little tough to sleep soundly.
Location was great (you can see the stars at night, but you're only 8 minutes from the main part of Main St.). Look and feel was great. She provided snacks and simple breakfast foods. VHS (love it!) movies. Great patio and a simple grill behind the cottage. The only thing I wasn't wild about was the breakfast. The first morning, there was no extra pastry provided (which wasn't supposed to happen), but the second and third morning we had either a large pastry or a voucher to go to a German Bakery in town. It was enough to make us content, but it's not really a "blow you away" kind of thing. It's something that I personally could look past and I would definitely consider going back to stay again sometime.
