Overview

About the property

Our home is a classic shingle-style beach house with tons of light, plenty of space, comfortable and classic furnishings and loaded with modern conveniences. The best part, however, is the location - just three houses from the water in a quiet safe neighborhood on a dead end road. Our beach is private and for the residents of our neighborhood, but since it is rarely occupied, you will likely have your very own private beach experience! The CT shoreline is full of beach alternatives, should you want variety; Hammonasset Park is a short stroll away. There is even a hiking/biking trail at the end of our street that leads to the Park if you are looking for more vigorous activity. Other activities popular to the region include hiking, biking, kayaking (3 included), paddle boarding, fishing, bird watching. The house has 3 kayaks, and 2 mountain bikes available for use.

The house has four bedrooms and an open loft, all fully furnished with all necessary linens. The master is a large room with water views, a new and super comfortable king sized bed, HDTV with cable access and a DVD player. On the same level is one bedroom with two twin beds and a second room with a full bed. The full bath is shared by these three bedrooms. A loft space above the family room offers additional sleeping for two on fold down couches. The lower level has a fourth bedroom with a full bed, and a sitting/play area with a double futon.

The kitchen is modern and comfortable for a group to gather and offers a breakfast bar for additional space. It is fully furnished and the stainless appliances are new. In the living room you will find space to relax. On cooler evenings, there is even a gas fireplace for your comfort. This is my personal favorite room to put my feet up and relax with the Sunday paper over coffee or to enjoy a glass of wine in the evening. Lastly on the main floor is a den with lots of light and French doors leading to the large deck where you will find a gas grill and outdoor furniture for dining al-fresco on a nice summer night. The house has a ping pong table, Wi-Fi, a Wii, HDTV, and streaming video. The house is also equipped with full washer and dryer.

Please note that our home is intended as a family home, large parties over 6 guests will be charged an additional $100 per additional guest per week.

What makes this house unique

Madison is a quaint New England town on the Long Island Sound which attracts a sophisticated mix of residents and visitors from all over the world. People are drawn to the town by its traditional New England feel coupled with breathtaking waterfront vistas. While downtown Madison is full of quaint shops and fine dining, nearby towns offer several alternatives - I’d be happy to be your guide to the shoreline while at the house! During the summer season, special events are plentiful and the quaint church greens and downtown areas come alive with concerts and other attractions. Additionally, Madison’s own R.J.Julia bookstore hosts an ongoing lecture series by world class authors while next door, in Branford, the Thimble Island Cruises take visitors past the summer cottages of the rich and famous, both past and present.

Madison is less than two hours from NYC and just slightly further from Boston. It is an ideal place to explore the beaches, shopping, fine dining, endless activities, in addition to the history of the CT shoreline. At our house, you can do it all!

Nice place

  • 5 of 5

The property was very clean and close to the beach. It was also close to the town of Madison and many fine restaurants.

Location, location, location!

  • 5 of 5

Location cannot be beat. You are a short walk from a very nice private beach, And at low tide, you can walk over to Hammonasett beach. You can bike over there at any time! The beach areas are great for any age. Young children can walk in shallow water and there is deeper water for adults. John has just about everything you need to make your stay great. Kayaks, paddle board, life vests, bikes for big and small and more. The house is fully stocked with towels and most everything you need in the kitchen. Some reviews have commented that the house is showing it's age and wear. While it could use some work, it was fine for our group of 10, ages two to sixty-two for our one-week stay.

Gorgeous home right next to a private beach!!!!! A Dream Beach Vacation!

  • 5 of 5

This was the BEST Family Vacation I could have wished for! We made some wonderful family memories here. John was the PERFECT host!

The house was gorgeous and fully stocked with supplies. We didn't need to bring anything except our own food to cook. His recommendations for restaurants and grocery stores were very helpful. Our adult children came to stay with us during the week, and there was plenty of room for all of us. We used the kayaks, beach cart daily, and the bikes for adventures on the trail. I would definitely go back to this house again. It really is STEPS FROM THE BEACH!

Great house close to the beach!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great 4 day stay over Thanksgiving! This house could not have worked out better for us as my brother lives 6 houses down the street, and we had great weather which was an added bonus! Plenty of room to hang out and the pictures online were accurate. John was easily accessible and we were grateful for the time with family. Everything in good working order. We will return!!
