About the property

A 15th Floor Unit with 9 foot high ceilings which gives it a spacious feel. A queen murphy bed with a 12" thick plush pillow top mattress was just added. Two elevators are about 40 feet from the front door. Enjoy a low traffic building with the front desk and check in next door at the Phoenix East.

This is truly a special spot on the beach. Fishing from the bank at the pass is legendary. The abundance of the fish draws all kinds of wildlife to feed. My daughter came back excited after watching a mother dolphin and her baby swimming around chasing fish. I enjoy watching all of the pelicans and other birds feed. Early in the morning you can often see schools of fish swimming close to shore at the beach. There is always something to see at the pass especially with all of the fishing boats coming and going. Just feel the tension leave your body as you relax on the balcony and listen to the waves come in. I can’t think of a better place to unwind from the pressures of life.

About Frank (Mike) Tolbert

I grew up a military brat, moving every few years. We lived in Fort Walton for 4 years when my father was stationed at Eglin AFB. That is where I developed a love of the Gulf coast. After I graduated HS in NY we came to Alabama to visit grandparents for Christmas. We left in a snow storm and it was 70 when we arrived in Alabama. When my parents returned to NY I stayed and knew I had found 'home'.

Frank (Mike) Tolbert purchased this condo in 2014

Why Frank (Mike) Tolbert chose Orange Beach

I have vacationed at Panama City Beach, Destin, Pensacola Beach and Orange Beach. Orange Beach is a true gem with less traffic than most other beach resort towns. The Phoenix 10 is where I thought I wanted to buy my own condo until the real estate agent showed me the Phoenix East II. I fell in love with the view and all the fish and birds and boats at the pass. There is always something interesting to watch at the pass.

What makes this condo unique

As soon as I step onto the balcony I feel the tensions of life leave my body. I love the view, the relaxation and the good food at Cobalts, The Oyster Bar, Fishers and The Shrimp Basket just into Florida.

There is something for everyone in or near Orange Beach. The Flora-Bama is one mile to the East. Charter boats, boat rentals and jet-ski rentals are close by. Dolphin cruises are on the other side of the pass. Zip-lines, para-sailing, a water park, putt putt and a go cart track are to the West. The Warf offers you shopping, the Rave Theater and restaurants close by. My favorite restaurants are The Oyster Bar Marina at the pass in Florida, the Shrimp Basket in Florida, Cobalts on the other side of the pass from the condo, and Fisher's at the Orange Beach marina. Tacky Jacks across the street from Fisher's is a fun place to go and has a great observation deck overlooking the bay. Tanger Outlet Mall Stores are located off of Gulf Shores Parkway near Foley. There are plenty of golf courses near by for husbands while their wife is out shopping.

It wasn't too bad, but it was as good as other times we had been there and used your facilities. I would suggest the owner invest in some better furniture in the Living room. The kitchen was good and the bedroom was also good. The room did smell a bit old. Overall our stay was fine. We were able to get away from some stress and relax for a few days. That is all we wanted.

Exactly what we wanted....

  • 5 of 5

This was our first visit to the area and the property definitely delivered. Top floor, unobstructed views of the beach and gulf...the pictures were accurate folks. We are a family of four with two small boys and the Murphy bed worked great. Had slight concerns when we booked that the unit would be too small, it was never at all an issue. Kitchen was nicely appointed and because of that (and the views) we chose to prep many of our meals in the unit. Washer/dryer was very handy and all of the furnishings fit well and were in good shape. Although we spent almost all of our in unit time on the was awesome. Kids loved the boats cruising by, storms out on gulf at night, pelicans fly right by this unit on the regular. The location of this unit makes the patio almost private. Was clear to us that most folks here were not first timers and everyone was very friendly. Great family place, gulf beach with limited waves, great sand (wife considers herself a sand connoisseur and was very impressed), dolphins, loved it. Did appear that this building was lower traffic than some others we walked by which was nice. We would definitely recommend.
