Overview

About the property

Villa on the hills of Lucca, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 1 sofà-bed Sleeps 5 people

Completely renewed, inside the house and outside, on January 2017.

Charming treasure trove within our rustic Tuscany. A villa belonging to 18th century with its perfect proportions and fascinating structure. It has been renovated maintaining the original characteristics and re-furbished with autenthic, original furniture. The elegant style and attention to detail, create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The rustic villa is situated within an olive grove, surrounded by the sounds of nature- but nearby, about one hundred meters far, the owners are living. Lucca is a medioeval town, full of history and surrounded by unique, centuries-old walls. The house lies 11 km. from the centre of Lucca and is ideally located to take day trips to Florence -70km., Pisa -20km, Siena and S.Gemigmano -90km. The Lucca region reaches as far as the mediterrean coast in Versilia, where the famous Forte dei Marmi is situated. The elegant beaches and fine sand are renowned within this area. If one day you remain at home, you can enjoy the view of Lucca from the terrace.

Why Massimo chose Lucca

The charm of this house and of this place will enter inside your heart.

What makes this villa unique

A piece of real Tuscany : completely absorbed among about 300 olive trees, an enchanting view over the city of Lucca and over the old church of the village.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you Massimo, for an extrodinary experience in your family home. It was just as the photos showed us and more. The hills offer a magnificent view day and night. The flowering trees and daffodils greated us on the approach up the road to Toninos place. We were so happy in this peaceful and elegantly redesigned farm villa. Daily trips to Lucca a pure joy and the food and quality of wines to choose from a dream come true. We loved it, and will be back next year.

Thank you

One of our best vacations ever. Highly recommend this. The views are extraordinarily beautiful.

  • 5 of 5

My wife, mother in law and I stayed in Massimo’s Tuscan farmhouse overlooking the beautiful midevil city of Lucca. Although we took day trips to places like Siena, Cinqueterra, Pisa, etc we could easily have spent our 15 days in Lucca and the surrounding area to get a wonderful Tuscan experience. The nearby village of Montecarlo and its vineyards are well worth visiting. We enjoyed the local Montecarlo Rosso even more than the Chiantis. Many days we just spent on the patio enjoying the sun and the vista while enjoying the local cheese, wine and bread. Cant wait to return. Massimo is the best. We will miss his friendship and his wonderful slice of heaven Tuscan farmhouse.

Fantastic hospitality in a superb location overlooking Lucca

  • 5 of 5

The hospitality provided by Massimo was excellent - from meeting us in Lucca to show us the way to the house, to the bottle of wine, bread and pasta as a welcome gift.

This house is lovely, and with such an amazing view from the terrace, it was a struggle to tear ourselves away to explore. The house is beautifully decorated, and very well appointed - the good water pressure in the showers was a very pleasant surprise.

The house is perfectly placed for exploring Lucca and the lovely villages around. It’s also close to the Garfagnana, which has some lovely walks.

We would recommend this house to anyone looking for somewhere away from it all, but with access to the city, the hills and the sea.

A little Gem: Serene and Peaceful with Stunning Views

  • 5 of 5

Massimo's place is a little gem. We recently spent a week there in April. it is beautifully appointed with a cozy kitchen and pot belly stove (which we used due a couple of chilly nights, M provides the wood), comfortable beds and two showers with great water pressure (a surprise in such an old farmhouse.) There is a Simply grocery store down the hill and the nearby restaurant M recommended (The Marvelous) was great. Lucca is less than a half hour drive -- there is free parking just outside the walls. We biked the walls one day. Stunning. I found a great hiking path on the last night at the cottage and wished I had time to explore it further. I also drove to and walked around the local church that is visible from M's place. It is the peaceful quiet and the stunning views that makes this little gem so special. Yes, the drive up is a little harrowing at first, but go slow, use your horn and pull over for locals. Massimo met us just off the highway at a McDOnalds and we followed him up on the first day. We cooked and used the barbecue. This is a perfectly romantic spot for a couple.... We did have friends visit for three days and the house comfortably handled two couples, (I wouldn't go more than that as the kitchen is cozy... and little crowded with four, but definitely manageable.) We drove to Florence (next time we'd probably take the train) and Pisa. But for me this wonderful little cottage was the highlight. Thanks Massimo for being such a thoughtful host.

Charming! Peaceful! Excellent Property!

  • 5 of 5

The house is exactly as it is pictured. Very charming and beautifully decorated. The only surprise was just how beautiful the view is of the valley below and the town of Lucca. Pictures just don't do it justice. In the two weeks I spent there, I learned a great deal of how everyday life is in Italy. The house was very clean and everything was in working order.

I would highly recommend this property to anyone wishing a lovely setting to relax the day away. Lucca proper is very beautiful town to visit. It is also accessible to many other towns for day trips.

Massimo, the owner, was very accommodating and always available should you have need. He is a good source of knowledge of how to get around not just Lucca, but Italy in general. He is also a very, very nice person.

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

  • 5 of 5

Arriving at this wonderful Tuscan Farmhouse was one of those moments! The view that met us did take our breath away.

Everything about this house, inside and out, was magical. The house is furnished eloquently..rustic/chic, and one feels instantly 'at home'.

Massimo met us at Lucca so we could follow him to the house, very much appreciated, and when there, he explained very fully regarding the running of the house etc. Massimo lives locally, and it was clear that if we had any problems, he would attend immediately.

I cannot really find adequate words to describe the beauty and uniqueness of the area surrounding the house, it has to be experienced, and I will remember and treasure this experience forever.

The city of Lucca boasts some wonderfully charming urban spaces: the most famous of these is surely the Piazza dell'Anfiteatro, built on the ruins of the ancient Roman amphitheatre by the architect Lorenzo Nottolini, a unique architectural marvel. The main artery running through the historic centre is the narrow Via Fillungo, a medieval street lined with the city’s most prestigious shops. Some of Lucca’s other picturesque squares include Piazza San Michele, the city’s historic fulcrum, and Piazza San Martino, the centre of religious life and the site of the renowned Duomo di San Martino. Its immense historic-monumental opulence has prompted a recent proposal to include Lucca’s historic centre – which also comprises a historic playhouse, the Teatro del Giglio - in UNESCO’s world heritage list.
