We searched the island for the perfect location. We found this property in Palmetto Dunes. It has everything we could want, and all within reasonable walking distance. First off is the condo property. It is a quiet and private community with a crystal clean swimming pool, sun deck and tranquility pond that overlooks the neighboring George Fazio Golf Course. Just outside of the the gates of St. Andrews Common is a set of paved trails that connects us to a myriad of activities, shopping and the best beach anywhere!!
What makes this Condo unique
The most significant benefit of our location is that it is possible to drive in at arrival and park the car for the duration of your stay. We are located just inside of Palmetto Dunes plantation. Once inside the plantation, everything a person could want is accessible with a short walk or bike ride using the 25 miles of paved walking/bike trails (in season, FREE shuttle service also available within Palmetto Dunes Plantation) - golf, tennis, kayak/canoeing, biking, restaurants, a general store, and of course, the beach!! The entrance to our beach has the Dunes House - a beach house with restrooms, showers and a full service restaurant/bar.

Palmetto Dunes St. Andrews Commons
We really enjoyed our home away from away for the week. The condo was neat and clean when we arrived, very quiet and peaceful. We definitely would recommend staying here and we will hopefully be able to stay here again and again. Frank & Loraine

St Andrews Common is a very quiet complex with a beautiful pool area. You are within walking distance to the beach on beautiful walking/biking paths.
Definitely Not prime real estate
We were excited to stay at this HHI condo! The owners were kind during our initial interactions, we were told our deposit would be in our account 1-2 days after check out, and they even gave us a free night! However, we were disappointed at arrival. The condo was just shy of a motel 6. The pull out couches were so uncomfortable our children had to use multiple blankets underneath them to sleep; the living room carpet was thread bare in multiple places; none of the furniture matched; the appliances were rusty and the oven temp was off; and everything was very dated. When we checked out we followed all instructions AND took photos which were time/date stamped. We received an email days after check out saying that we left the place a mess. NOT TRUE!!! Everything was as clean as when we checked in. We were so glad we had the photos. Our deposit was held for five days and we did not appreciate the note. It was very upsetting to be accused of leaving excessive garage, soiled linens, and misplaced furniture. We gave two stars because the master bed was comfortable and the location was good for bike riding. The condo is about a mile fro the beach. We will not stay there again.
Although we are disappointed with your rating of our property, we nonetheless appreciate you taking the time to provide your feedback. We are always looking to improve our guest experience through investment in renovations and upgrades of our property. In the two-and-a-half years that we have owned this condo, we have targeted investments to areas that we believed were key to providing comfort to the areas that we felt each guest would consider most important. For example, the first purchases were for all new beds and bedding. Based on your feedback, the comfort of the master bed was realized by you and your wife and hit the target – for that we are pleased. As for the mattresses on the pullouts, these were also replaced as brand new with the highest quality available within the past couple of years. We regret that the children did not find these accommodations as comfortable to meet their needs.
As for other concerns: We agree that the lack of color match amongst the living room pieces is not optimal. Along with our concession, I would note that this fact is openly disclosed within the photos provided in our HomeAway listing. As to the floor coverings: we consciously maintain our carpets through our ongoing inspection and regular cleanings. We have not observed areas that are degraded as you describe. For the kitchen appliances… we concede that they have not been recently updated. However, we guarantee that they are clean, sanitary, and fully functional for their intended use.
Lastly, regarding our post-departure communications, I apologize for any comments that you found upsetting. Our intent was to respectfully share the results of our post-stay cleaning and inspections for your awareness. With this, I would clarify by stating that your full refund was issued in accordance with your signed Rental Agreement that states that security deposit funds shall be settled within seven (7) days following the scheduled check-out.
In conclusion, we remain grateful for giving us the opportunity to have you as our guest. We understand that our property did not meet your expectations, but hope that you will return to Hilton Head Island for future family vacations. Although our property aims at providing comfortable and hospitable accommodations at family-friendly prices, perhaps your expectations may be better met at one of the more luxurious resorts that Hilton Head Island has to offer.

It was the best time that my grand daughter and I have had on our travels. The place was very kept up on the outside grounds and the inside was very roomy and clean. I will be sure that I contact Mike and Anna for future trips.
