About Margene Mooney

Owners Michael & Margene moved from Ventura County in 1998 with the dream of starting a winery. Their successful Chateau Margene Cabernet & Bordeaux program then spawned the Mooney Family label, which produces Pinot Noirs & Chardonnays from the Santa Lucia Highlands. Their main home is on the estate as well, but far enough away to provide seclusion to guests renting the Ranch House.

Margene Mooney purchased this farmhouse in 1998

Why Margene Mooney chose Creston

This home is for those who are looking for a taste of staying in cattle and wine country, while being close enough to enjoy all the restaurants and special events Paso Robles has to offer. Enjoy seclusion or spend time exploring the Paso Robles AVA. Relax on the tasting room viewing deck, take in the sunset and sample some of the world class offerings while chatting with the winemaker.

What makes this farmhouse unique

On-site winery & vineyard tours and wine tasting.

Great escape to the wonderful and relaxing environment of the Creaton area

  • 4 of 5

Our family had a wonderful fun filled and relaxing stay at the Ranch House at Chateau Margene. It was an extremely peaceful and quaint property. We loved just hanging out on the porch, bbq’ng and exploring all of the attractions in this great area of the Central Coast. Our one daughter fell in love with the Ranch dogs and our other daughters fell in love with the fabulous wines. Would recommend this property for families and groups that want to unplug, relax and enjoy each other!

Perfect place for our family to enjoy the peace and quiet. Wonderful hosts!

This ranch house was the perfect place for our family to stay. As soon as we stepped foot on the porch, we felt like we were on vacation and the stress of our daily lives was gone. We were attending our daughters graduation from SLO which was a beautiful 30 minute drive from the property. The owners were very accommodating and allowed us to have a bbq with a few of our daughters friends the night before. This small ranch house is located on the adjacent property from the owners. It was very private and peaceful. After being checked in, we were given contact information in case we needed anything and then left alone to enjoy the home and the grounds. We were treated to some wonderful pastries and orange juice which we enjoyed for breakfast. The Krups coffee maker was well-stocked with a variety of coffees. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook and the bbq was great. The home was clean and the beds were comfortable. We stayed over the weekend and were treated to some wonderful tastings of wine at the Chateu Margene tasting room (short walk from the home). In the mornings, we strolled the property, coffee in hand, and enjoyed the rolling hills and grape vines. I could say so much more but I will end by saying that we appreciated the hospitality and could not have asked for better hosts. We highly recommend this property and will be back.

Beautiful environment

  • 5 of 5

This setting provided us with all that we needed. We particularly enjoyed the front deck and peaceful view of the property. Our stay was mid-week so the winery on the property was not open and we were unable to taste the wine. This was a bit of a disappointment but overall we would highly recommend staying here.

Charming, well-equipped and in the perfect spot!

  • 5 of 5

My friends and I shared a relaxing long weekend at the cabin and were very impressed by the entire set-up. Margene and her husband were gone, but their son John took great care of us. We enjoyed cheese plates on the patio, the bbq in the back, and walking over to the tasting room to play with the three lovely dogs and try some of the Chateau Margene wines (which are excellent). We were all sad to leave and hope to come back soon!

It is just as described " A rustic ranch house" with a great view of the surrounding rolling hills vineyard. The accomodations were clean and cute . The staff were helpful and very friendly. We had no complaints. We enjoyed having barbeque in the backyard and watching the sunset over the beautiful rolling hiss of the vineyards.

Thanks for a great experience.
