Wonderful Labor Day Weekend!
My family and I stayed at the Cozy Lakeside Cottage over the Labor Day weekend. It was perfect. The house, particularly the kitchen, had everything necessary to cook for a house of 8. There were no complaints regarding the beds and their comfortability. The dock area was lovely. Fair warning, as the other reviews mention, the hill to and from the dock is quite steep, so try to bring everything down in a single trip or two. My father docked his bass boat here for two of the nights. Very convenient if you have or rent a boat.
All in all, my family and I really enjoyed our stay here. The owner was extremely responsive and easy to work with. Best of all, I was able to bring my dog. This was a huge bonus!!! Would stay here again!
Thank you so much for your very kind review. It pleases us tremendously to know that others can enjoy the lake while staying at our home.
We had a great time at the lake renting this house. Lots of amenities close by and good fishing. House had all the things needed for a nice weekend away. Will definitely be back!
You're very kind and we are glad that you enjoyed your stay! We've made a number of improvements to the property and have more planned during the off-season.
Affordable, Great Spot on the Lake, VERY steep hill
The owner was very responsive, polite and fast in correspondence. Getting to bring your pet on vacation is such a plus for us, and our dog had a blast! Furniture was cozy, dock was lovely, deck box was very convenient to use for the week.
The kitchen is dated but completely adequate for all of your cooking needs; the oven was hit and miss a few times, but I think it was more user error than a problem with the oven.
I would really like to stress that the hill to the dock is VERY STEEP. We have been staying at SML for over ten years, and this was the steepest hill we ever encountered. I was with my in laws, and unfortunately, we found the gravel path more treacherous than just taking the grass down, as my father in law fell on the gravel pathway the first day. After that, we were a little more cautious with the hill. My husband and I (late thirties) were fine, just a little winded. This hill is maybe not a good fit for your older family members. It might be a wish list item, but stairs would make a world of difference!
The beds were a bit old and it was hard to get a good night's sleep; for the price point, I wasn't surprised, but fair notice: I can fall asleep pretty easily and found the beds to be uncomfortable. A little upgrade here would go a nice way!
TL;DR: Overall, you can't beat the value and the location on the lake. By land, you are so close to the grocery store, trash dump (you have to take your trash to the dump; there is no pick up) and restaurants. By water, you are even closer to boat rentals and things to do. This was a prime spot on the lake and we really loved that. Beds could use an upgrade, downstairs isn't air conditioned (we had a cool temp week and were not bothered at all; ceiling fans worked well) and the hill to the lake is VERY STEEP. Would not recommend for older family members or very young ones either.
House is comfortable, meets your needs and overall, you will be in for a great week! The owner is a great and very responsive. Would recommend for anyone who won't have trouble with the hill.
Excellent week at SML
My family spent a week at SML in August. The home was clean, and everything worked properly. We spent most of our time on the deck and dock; both are relatively new and comfortable. The bathrooms have been updated. The kitchen is a bit dated, but very functional. The owner is extremely responsive. All in, a great value and a great week.
This is a nice, clean, well equipped home. Great for a stay at the lake
The home was clean and well equipped. There is a monster hill leading down to a really nice boat house/dock facility where we spent most of our time. Plan well when you go to the bottom, because the hill will take your breath away going back up.
The dock was really well set-up, with areas for shade and areas to get some sun. The cove was lovely, some activity, but not crazy noisy.
The owners have done a nice job rehabbing the cabin, and it was very pleasant place to spend a week. I would go back in a heartbeat!
Beautiful views from the deck! Nice newer dock. So nice to find a place that allowed our 2 dogs!
We enjoyed our stay at the cottage. The recent remodeling was very nicely done. It would be helpful to have better access to the water. The slope is quite steep and slippery especially with the rain we had. Some type of walkway would be much appreciated! Updating the tvs would be good and providing some wireless internet as well.
