Complaints and action
The property was upto my expectations but on arriving on the weekend we found a few problems. We didn’t have a toilet seat in the main bathroom. No lock on the bathroom door, the outside terrace lights came on in the morning not in the evening. We visited the property agents who passed all the details to the owner. We had a call to say the faults would be dealt with on the Tuesday. The toilet seat was repaired on the Wednesday, the outside lights weren’t fixed at all. The owners reason for no lock on the back room door was that it was for health and safety reasons ( I don’t get it) Apart from all this
it was a lovely villa and we had a wonderful time in the resort.
was a lovely villa and our stay in puerto polensa
Great location, but noise issues at night
We were looking for a private villa but close to the centre of the port, and this was pretty much the only option, so we booked it despite there being no previous reviews that we could find.
Starting with the positives - this is a fantastic location - a couple of hundred yards to the beach. Bars, shops and restaurants literally around the corner, and 5 minutes walk to the marina. The property is a good size for 4 people, the walled terrace is lovely, very private and catches the sun in the afternoon, and despite being so close to the sea front it's really peaceful during the day.
But unfortunately there are some negatives. Firstly, having been quoted the price and completed payment, we were then told that we had to make an extra payment direct to the managers for a local tourist tax. The tax is legitimate, but per homeaway's rules this should have been notified to us at the beginning.
The beds were very uncomfortable. We like a firm mattress, but these were the hardest we have ever slept on, and were also covered with noisy, sweaty plastic mattress covers (which we removed as they were unbearable).
However, the biggest downside is that the property has an alleyway down the side which provides access to the rear of a restaurant, and after the restaurant closes at night they drag wheelie bins down this alleyway to the road. At around 5.00 a.m., a lorry comes and empties the bins, then they get dragged back. Since this is a ground floor property this happens right past the bedroom windows, and the whole process is very noisy.
What made this problem much worse was that the air conditioning didn't work when we arrived, meaning we had to leave the windows open at night to keep the bedroom cool. We reported the air conditioning problem on the Monday but it took until Thursday to fix it, by which time we were suffering sleep deprivation which spoilt the holiday for us.
If you do book this for the location, check the air con as soon as you arrive, and maybe take ear plugs to use at night.
Just back from a week staying here. One word, wow! We were worried that it wouldn’t live up to how good it looked in the pictures, we were wrong. In real life it was just as good, if not better. The house had everything you need from WiFi, toaster, juicer, tv and plenty of towels. The sun hits the terrace from 11am until the sun goes down. The beach is approx 20m away with the main bars and restaurants at the marina a 5 minute walk along the beachfront. Like the previous reviewer, we did not find the safe for a while and also struggled with it. However, the house felt very secure so we didn’t bother in the end. The place was cleaned midweek with a change of bedding and towels. Would highly recommend and would love to go back one day
Excellent location lovely house. Maybe could have done with some instructions on how to use the safe. Only found it on day 3. We had a great holiday very relaxing
