Villa Cervarola is situated on a hill just outside the little town of Villafranca in Lunigiana, in the centre of the Lunigiana, a historical region of Tuscany, divided between the provinces of Massa and La Spezia. This area, between the mountains and the sea, has been for millennia crossed by peoples from the North and the South and so is full of history and culture waiting to be revealed. From the pre-Roman era up to the 18th century 160 castles were built, of which more than 30 are still active and inhabited, the rest are ruins and remains whose traces can be seen everywhere throughout the area. The house is not far from the Tyrrhenian coast and Versilia and from the famous Apuan Alps and the Cinque Terre. From here you can organize many historical, cultural and naturalistic itineraries to visit ancient borghi (Pontremoli, Villafranca, Sarzana, Fosdinovo, the towns of Massa, Carrara, Lerici) and castles (Verrucola, Malaspina, dell'Aquila, di Terrarossa, di Pontebosio, di Bastia, etc.) or else you can decide for hiking trails, cycling or horse riding.
