I live nearby in a local village with my family and grew up in this area and therefore have a good knowledge of where to visit and what you could enjoy on your holiday. My teenage children have enjoyed living in this area as there are many activities to keep them happy whether that be connected to sports or leisure activities. My son offers tennis coaching so if you would like to improve your game just give us a call!
Jenny purchased this Cottage in 2016
Why Jenny chose Deal
We chose Mermaid Cottage as it is full of charm and dating back to 1805 it has many period features. We particularly were attracted to the Conservation Area of Deal as it is very pretty and quiet with lovely cottages and just a two minute walk to the promenade. I have always loved Deal and surrounding area as it is a seaside town that has not been too commercialised and has retained it's Georgian charm.
What makes this Cottage unique
Mermaid Cottage feels surprisingly spacious for a cottage with a great extended kitchen and dining area leading onto the attractive courtyard garden which is completely private and sheltered and benefits from it's south facing aspect. The bedrooms are also spacious for a relaxing stay. The beds are all new from Laura Ashley as this is our first year in the holiday let business. We feel that Mermaid Cottage is ideal for anyone wanting a break in a seaside location in a town and area that offers the best of both worlds - relaxation and many places to visit. We live nearby in case you need anything during your stay.

Great location and well appointed
Very organised and comfortable. Worth noting access to upstairs bathroom is via bedroom but there is a separate loo downstairs. Recommended
Thanks for your review and glad you enjoyed your stay.
Four in a Bed review from Christopher.
Fireplace needs repointing
Needs brightening up - perhaps some pictures and ornaments on the walls?
Bed nearest window in front room - starboard rear bed-knob loose. Could cause
Wine glasses only hold half a bottle.]
Lovely old table - but potential hygiene problem?
Instructions for gas stove - we've been electric for years, but we managed!
Ice tray a beast -two good ones please
A hand held vacuum cleaner perhaps?
Would stay again - Yes Yes Yes!
Anne has mentioned extractor fan - but we did appreciate the double facility.
Lot of thought
Lovely cottage with quirky furniture just my taste. Loved things like harlequin glass sets. Well located in conservation area. Only managed a brief time in garden due to weather but would be lovely when warm. Comfortable ambiance and owners who were rightly proud. Loved the paintings as well - seemed like the same artist who did them? Well recommended.
Thanks so much for the great review and glad you were comfortable for your celebrations. Thanks for taking care of everything so well and the artist is me!!!
A pretty and cosy cottage at Christmas
A very enjoyable fortnight over Christmas. The cottage catered for all our needs and it was always a lovely base to come back to after the delightful walks along the sea front or around the town.
Would love to come back again.
Thanks very much for your good review of our cottage and so glad you enjoyed your Christmas stay. We would love to see you again!
Perfect cottage in great location and lovely owner
Where to start! Everything was fantastic. The cottage had everything you needed and was nicely decorated, clean, warm and homely. The courtyard was a suntrap, even in mid-September we enjoyed breakfast and evening drinks outside. The owner was great at communicating with us beforehand and gave us some local tips for us to fully enjoy our stay. She also met us at the cottage to go through a welcome pack. The bed was so comfy! We slept so well. I'm 36 weeks pregnant and generally don't sleep well anywhere so that was heaven! We often have weekend breaks away and I would usually never return to the same place as I always love to try new places but I would go back to Deal and back to Mermaid Cottage in a heartbeat. Thank you Jenny!
Thanks so much for your great review and glad you enjoyed your stay. We would love to see you again as a family of four next time! Wishing you well for October.
Lovely property. Very clean, welcoming and homely. Beds were very comfortable. Could not fault.
We stayed in Mermaid cottage for a short break. On arrival we exchanged keys with Jenny and Ray who were lovely. Tea, coffee and a bottle of wine were complimentary which was a nice touch. The cottage is very conveniently situated in Deal and free on street parking available overnight. There were other areas close by where parking was free all day. The cottage itself was lovely. It had a beautiful kitchen and lounge which included an impressive gas fire. The outside courtyard garden was also pretty and nice to sit in. The bedrooms were roomy and the beds were very comfortable. Towels and bed linen were provided. The overall feel of the property was so nice that we could have stayed a lot longer and we intend to go back next year. Deal itself was a lovely seaside town. We were able to eat in various pubs and hotels at a reasonable cost. Lots of nice shops including small independents . Coop, M&S and Sainsburys all present within the town for food. The town was clean and the people friendly. I would recommend it as a short break destination in the Summer.
Thanks very much for your great review and glad you enjoyed your stay. Look forward to seeing you again.
